Welcome to the IHoP
Probably could. Since I doubt they have more than a millimeter or two of Xmax, it wouldn't take much...wooden phase plugs installed in the center of the driver would help with off-axis response too. Those are in pretty sorry shape, I've seen FC's for sale on Ebay for a lot better.

Welcome to the IHoP
Yeah, but they probably kick ass. The amps look good, even if the drivers look a little worse for wear. Field coil drivers were pretty common up to the '50s...not a lot of Xmax, but they're extremely efficient.

Welcome, tadpole. I'm sure you'll like it here a lot.- Welcome to the IHoP
Then it wouldn't need to be very rough, would it? 220 grit would make emos cry.- Welcome to the IHoP
That's rough, man...that's like having Death as a father-in-law or something.- Welcome to the IHoP
STICKUUUUURRRRZZZ!!! teh w1n.- Welcome to the IHoP
What do you call people from Spain?- New RL-i 8.....
I'll probably seal mine. Don't need a lot of output.- Welcome to the IHoP
I think it would be - considering that you'd probably be running into some clipping, but since it was tubed you could get away with some clipping vs. a solid state amp, also depending on what kind of tone you like to get. You can find refurbished/restored monoblock amps with or without tubes off Ebay for so cheap...it's crazy. If you really want a conversation piece, I could put you in touch with the guy who's building my integrated amp, using a 2A3 power triode for each channel, with a tube rectified power supply. I'm sure he'd build mono guitar amps, after all, the concept is the same if not simpler. Decware also makes a modified version of their Zen amp for guitars, and having owned the stereo version I can tell you it's a very cool little beast. Pretty low powered, though...EL84's running in triode mode, so only about 5 watts in mono.- Welcome to the IHoP

Is she hot? Stop wasting your time and post some pictures of her.- New RL-i 8.....
doooo it. And the 8" is small enough you can fuss around with the enclosure (which you will have to, with a TL ) and not really worry about it. A proper TL for a 15" or 18" will be much more of a headache.- Welcome to the IHoP
but triode-strapped EL34's would give you around 12w...killer practice amp, at the very least. push-pull you could get that number up to 30-35w.- Welcome to the IHoP
Add a quad EL34 amp to it, and it would be sweeter or 6L6's...if you wanted tetrodes...- Welcome to the IHoP
That would be sweet.- Welcome to the IHoP
Yeah, I think I'm getting rid of the TC9 soon, if this local guy gets back to me... The little sub would probably go with the tube/high-eff speakers, and I'll put the Rava on main HT duty.- Welcome to the IHoP
It's either the RL-i 8" or an Eu-700, but I'm less than enthused about ordering...yeah, you know.- Welcome to the IHoP
I'm thinking of picking up a new RL-i 8" when they come out in September...I have the perfect app for one.- Welcome to the IHoP
I like actually having money that's available to spend on audio gear... It's just a very fleeting experience...because I know I'll be back to my starving-student-audiophool mode in a few months
