us amps/kicker amps
The Kicker. Nick's amps that he had in the truck impressed me, those things took a beating.

Welcome to the IHoP
When I was in HS, we had an Ethiopian guy teach one of my calc classes for half a year...he's run Boston and NYC, placed in the top 10...that guy was crazy. And where you live I've got two friends that just got their CS degrees and are working for Goldman Sachs...great starting pay for sure, but apartments and everything else in NYC don't come cheap... I think the average starting salary for BIT majors from Tech is somewhere around $50k...although I know I won't be making that whenever I finally graduate...

zapco/arc audio eq's
Could you work an Audiocontrol piece into a center console somehow? Or maybe something hidden in a glove compartment...

Fi Bl 18 setup
12awg would be fine. Knu's stuff is durable and a good value.

to brace or not to
You want to put braces perpendicular to the longest unsupported sections of the enclosure, those are the parts that will need bracing the most. I assume this isn't for a pure competition setup? If you're chasing every last tenth of a dB, extensive bracing might not be as good of an idea. But if you're only casually competing, it shouldn't be an issue.

Oh, c'mon, being around a battery in thermal runaway is fun

The whole idea that they're new or innovative is a little annoying, but his craftsmanship seems to be alright.

Welcome. This is a different place, though

How to contact AA?
Well...he could, he'd just need to find a surround that wouldn't restrict travel at all 8" surrounds are pretty easy to find, but I'm not sure if they'd let the suspension cover the full range that the original one did.

My hair's almost to that point. Psych grad students are fun, though

FI's accomplish dual duty?
Transmission lines are very adaptable for different drivers, but I'm not so sure one built for a DD is going to work very well for a BTL without some modification. Is this mass-loaded?

Crossover points
Depends on the Xover slope, but if you're getting popping noises with a 125Hz HP, something is up with the install...because that's already way too high of a crossover point IMO I've got the Memphis 6.5's down to 50Hz with a 24dB/oct slope, and the only time I can get them to complain is with very kettle-drum heavy material, John Williams in particular makes them very unhappy. But for everything else I don't get any noises.

Welcome to the IHoP
I've been trying to find a price for a Scheu outboard motor...although all it really is is a good quality DC motor with a speed controller. You're the EE, come up with a programmable controller PCB for a motor Then you have to get a good quality bearing - the good ones are inverted bearings with a kind of a oil sump in them, so they continually stay lubricated and can take some pretty massive platters. From Teres Audio, it costs $300. A Rega RB250 tonearm can be bought new for $250.

Welcome to the IHoP
Not really, I'm just not prepared to lose a couple hundred dollars for this one Basically, "good" turntables start at $350ish new and go up from there.
-
Welcome to the IHoP
SSA price would be around $750 plus shipping.

Welcome to the IHoP
Heck, you're a lot closer to Rega in the UK than I am, a Rega P3 has a different plinth design and motor but the tonearms are identical Actually there are a ton of good European turntable manufacturers...Clearaudio and Scheu in Germany...Rega and J.A. Michell in England...Verdier in France...

That has no universal meaning. Best bet is to get input from people who have generally the same tastes as you...

No truth to that. As for whether they'd be accurate enough for you, that's something only you can know for yourself...

Welcome to the IHoP
Oh my... Details ? It's a VPI HW-19jr, upgraded armboard, counterweight, record clamp, dustcover and manual included though they're not in that pic. Absolutely no marks on it, just looks dusty with the light. I'd be a little scared of shipping it that distance, though...
