I would avoid them. If you're trying to find amps that are worth it, I would look for used Alpines, RF's, PG's (Titanium & Tantrum series in particular for your power needs), etc...maybe older Soundstream and Orion as well, but nothing of the new stuff. Even a JBL BP1200.1 that's a few years old would do the job...

I would try to find something used either on the forums or Ebay. Heck, I bought my Tantrum 1200.1 for around $300, and that was several years ago...

For $200, I would find something else.

Well, in my case I never had rear speakers to begin with, but yes...there's absolutely no point in upgrading rear speakers if a decent soundstage is a priority. Think about it. At a concert, the band is in front of you, generally speaking. Why would you want a guitar or vocal part to come from directly behind you? I've never understood the "it's for the passengers" argument, either. In Dave's Camry, heck I preferred the rear seat because you could sit in the middle and listen to everything centered with the time alignment off No problems with not hearing anything then... Now, if someone doesn't care and "just wants to hear the words", that's different... lmfao i was going to bring up this point but i didnt because i wanted to see how long it would take someone to say it..also think of this way..when you at the theaters or if you have a home theater system do you only have the speakers in front? no they are besides you and behind you...so the argument can go both ways..i guess if you got the money then do the whole car/truck if your on a budget..i guess theres worse things you can do then just doing the fronts.. You're talking about surround formats, which are a totally different issue 5.1 surround is very different than 2-channel stereo...because they have discrete channels that are specifically encoded for those surround speakers. With two-channel stereo playing on four speakers, all you're doing is playing the same material in different places.

Try plugging the receiver in with a "cheater" plug, one that turns the 3-prong plug into a 2-prong. If the noise goes away, you have a ground loop on your hands...it's not safe to run it permanently like that, though. Or the receiver's sub outs are hosed...

The voltmeter is only telling you one component of the output power. If you put a true RMS clamp meter on one of the leads going to the sub, you'll have the other that you need...the actual current being sent to the driver at that specific frequency. And if that shop doesn't have one of those, it's time to find people that know what they're doing Cone movement is going to be at its minimum right around the tuning frequency. By cutting off port length, you increased the tuning frequency, so the driver has more of a chance to unload below tuning...

Saying "everyone in my town wants to rob me or be me" is a pretty interesting statement regardless of your age.

I don't think it looks stupid...yes, it some installs it's nice cosmetically to have all of them the same kind, but if they're integrated well I've seen multi-brand amp setups look just fine too...technically there's no reason for not doing it. Because otherwise any semblance of a soundstage gets ruined... ?

Why two sets of mediocre speakers instead of one set of decent ones? And for $120 I bet there are better used amps out there...like an older Alpine, RF, PG...etc.

For that price, you're basically going to have to run active, or deal with extremely compromised passive sets... It's not the price, it's how it's installed

High pass filter? You mean low pass filter, yes? Does that shop have an oscilloscope?

I have no idea what would have the most output. When I listened to the Mag, that's not what I was listening for...however, I think the Q has more potential, especially with some of the options offered, to be happy with a higher power input. Certainly to the point where the new Mag would be unhappy... Now, in terms of sound quality and not output - would have to come between the new Mag and the Icon.

Sounds like you might be getting a ground loop...have you tried plugging the amps into different outlets?

What have you currently done with the midbasses? Once you start getting the subwoofers playing the higher-frequency kickdrum parts and such, you're liable to have the stage pull back and the sub starts getting localizable...

Isn't that good that it's weak above 50Hz or so? That's where your midbasses ideally should start, anyway...
