it's gonna be somewhat tough to find a quality amp that will do 1500 rms @ 2.66 ohm's for under 500. I guess the pg tantrum would be another option though since that one does around 1400 @ 4 ohms and its regulated. 1kw is actually a decent amount of power for them imo. It wont strain his electrical system as much and it should still get pretty loud. I'll try and talk him outta jl though. I'm not a fan of it either. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The memphis 16-mcd1500 is rated at 1500@2ohm with 13.8v, at 14.4v I would bet it is close. Orion 2500D will put out that power, finding one for the price is another story. i just talked to him again. It looks like hes gonna get a jl 1000/1. They are giving it to him for $500, which is pretty good. Only other amps I could think of that would be nice and do 1kw + are the memphis mcd1000, mtx 1501d and the rf 1501bd

my friend just called me about finding an amp for his 3 cm3's hes gonna put in a sealed box. His "professional installers" are trying to sell him a jl 500/1 or jl 250/1!

ummm..no. they are rated like 1100wrms @ 13.8 volts or something... at 14.4 they do something like 12-1250wrms...adn if u bench one, it'll do those numbers and probably a bit more. my last st1000d benched in the neighborhood of 1300wrms at 14 volts. whomever told u that is wrong and knows nothing..lol....unless he/she has got the paperwork to back it up. memphis is definitely one of the best mainstreme amp brands on the market, period. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee <{POST_SNAPBACK}> good to hear. me too. i'm so over it. I haven't gone to physics in 2weeks and its the only class I actually enjoy at times, but people are so stupid that it pisses me off. I am very impatient when it comes to people not understanding simple concepts!

autos can spin like no other! Before I put a 100+ pound box in my trunk I could spin my jeep no problem. Just go fast and turn sharp or turn the wheel as far as it will go and floor it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not dounts, burnouts <{POST_SNAPBACK}> oooooooo my bad. Donuts are fun too though. With my jeep you gotta stomp the accelerator with the break all the way in until the tires break loose then they just spin freely after that. I have chitty traction at all times though so that helps.
