  1. if you keep the black anodized cones I'd go with a black or silver logo. I think that would look great. I was never really a fan of the orange.

Now for a little review. Overall, I am very pleased with this sub. The Sq is awesome so far, but my front stage really cant even try to keep up when the subs wangin. I plaid hotel california on it a little while ago and it was tight and crisp. No distortion whatsoever at very high volume. However, I had to open the trunk and listen to it from there to know this because my car rattles so much when its playing that loud that you cant tell if it is completely distortion free from the front seat. Very different sound than that of my old diamond m6mkII 10's in a sealed box. Just as "quick" so to speak, but just different. Its a little more "full" if you know what I mean, a little deeper and stronger so to speak. So it has sq, but does it have spl? ABSOLUTELY. This thing is LOUD. It shocked the hell outta me and all of my friends. I was expecting a small step up in output from my diamonds considering the cone area was a little less and I was going to send it 500w less, but there is no question that this is way louder. I drove up to wienerschnitzel today with my music up very loud playing 50 cent candy shop. I parked about 40 ft away and when i went inside one of my firiends just had this look of awe on his face. It soon passed and he told me that the whole restaurant was shaking from my bass. lol. Don't bother lecturing me on how terrible this is because I really never do this kind of thing. I know that noone wants to hear me, but what the hell its new and I want to show it off. This is just an awesome sub that can get loud and sound good doing it. If you are looking into getting any subs I would definitely recommend soundsplinter. I can attest to the quality of the rl-p and have heard nothing but good things about the rl-i and the customer service really is second to none.
  3. If he already has it though he might as well use it. Just use the gain setting formula and set that thing for 1800w or less and you will be fine. There is no point in getting a new amp when the one you have will work fine.

I installed the rl-p a little earlier today and holy sh*t it is loud! My car is going to fall apart. Overall, it sounds great for rap, which is all I've listened to on it so far. IT plaid late night tip flawlessly and with authority. Something my 10's were never able to do. Pretty much anything by lil john is actuallly painful. lol. I'll work on getting a video and some pics up pretty soon.

I'll probably carpet it next weekend. I still have to use some filler to fill in the holes where all the screws are. i also need to get a terminal cup.

Wait till you see how the rl-p fits in there. There is not even a mm between it and the baffle.

I finished my box today for the rl-p. It took awhile but came out pretty nice. All I have to say is that computer guided tools kick *ss! I know the pictures suck, but what do you expect at 12:30 at night.
  12. Just to make you happy, pics are on the way.
  13. The box is complete and it is damn near perfect as far as looks go. Who knows if it will sound good but it looks f*ckin awesome. I can guarantee that you have never seen more perfect circles than the ones I cut, or rather that the computer cut. Details and pics will come tomorrow.
  14. Well, I'm off to get the wood and make the cuts. Im going to use these numbers because they seem to make sense to me. Hopefully I'm not off. If anyone notices that i completely f'ed up within the next 30 minutes or so give me a call (949 295 5897) so I dont destroy my box.
  15. Also, I added 3/4" to the sides, top and bottom so that i could fit in a double baffle w/o affecting internal volume.
  16. I realized those numbers were off and I came up with these. I think we are going by different assembly methods. I just assumed i would piece everything together as it is in the picture. Do these new numbers look okay? (2) 17 1/2 x 16 3/4 (Sides) (2) 28 3/4 x 16 3/4 (Top/Bottom) (2) 26.45" x 16 (Double Baffle) (3) 12 1/2 x 16 (Port Walls) (1) 28 3/4 x 16 (back)
  17. I decided to use a double baffle and flush mount the sub. Befor I get started can somebody double check my cut list? HEres the box Heres the cut list I came up with. BTW, I added 3/4" to the top, bottom and sides to account for the double baffle. (2) 17 1/2 x 16 3/4 (Sides) (2) 28 3/4 x 16 3/4 (Top/Bottom) (2) 26.45" x 16 3/4 (Double Baffle) (3) 12 1/2 x 16 3/4 (Port Walls)
  18. Should I use a double 3/4" baffle on the box? The sub weighs about 35 lbs. Thanks.
  19. Don't worry, I will. It might help to build a box first though. On that note, I am planning on building it tomorrow. I have access to a table saw but it is in a smalll workshop and has been modified to only accept smaller pieces so I may need to have the wood cut at home depot and then fix them on the table saw if they are off.
  20. Yes, after an ENTIRE day of waiting it arrived Don't you jsut hate those long waits. I can't wait to get it installed and finally hear what it sounds like. All I know so far is that it is sexy as hell and soundsplinter has the best customer service ever.
  21. heres what I have planned. let me know if this looks good. [
  22. Hey. I just ordered an rl-p 15 and now I need a little help designing a ported box for it. After talking with Mike, I have decided to go with 2.5 cu ft net tuned to 28 hz. I would like the box to be about 30x17 1/2x??? Also, mike recommended somewhere between 35 and 40 sq inches of port area. Thanks. Eric
  23. I like... cant decide if it is better than the plain black. They are both too dam sexy
