1 year really isn't that bad, you hear about some builds closing in on a decade

that's pretty easy to do just back off the timing a bit, and it'll sound chunkier

you guys were guessing about 450 hp in the 'bird right? I wouldn't be surprised if it hit high 11s if it could hook

yikes, but I guess that's not terrible when you need to replace body panels and want a good black paint job

Sweet, glad to see it on the road I won't deny there are a few things I'd change if it were mine though

The linc and the 22in shoes
They were talking about rotational inertia which is not the same as mass, and plays an even larger effect on the vehicle's ability to stop.

L7 and 18" BTL mix.
6.5" drivers play a different frequency range than the subs do, thus allowing them to both play without interference once again, it is an extremely poor idea to use both kinds of subwoofers at the same time

Pretty much... Exactly Story is so long its got chapters Exhaust #1 "The First Mistake" Got the Gibson exhaust, the guys F'ed up installing it and it looked and leaked like shit. Took it to another shop and asked them to weld everything tight and they recommended just going with a new system since this system hung low and hand some problems with pipes rattling together and I really wasn't happy with the highway resonance anyway *Warning* this is the beginning of the story where I will have 4 different after market exhaust in a matter of 24 hours... Exhaust #2, "The Big 'Fix' " True dual 2.5 with 12" dynomax bullets no x/h pipe. Had it on my old silverado (single 3", no cat) and liked it so I was excited. It was the loudest f'n exhaust I had ever heard. Nasty crackle at anything over 2K (sounded like I was slapping pistions). was actually quiet cruising and screamed like a scalded ape at WOT, but the crackle had to go so I took it back to the shop. Guy at the shop told me it was the loudest system he had ever heard on a truck as well and knew I would be back. Exhaust #3 "Same Shit Same Day" So I asked for and h pipe and they said that things were so close an h pipe was really out of the questions so the recommended 2 single chambers. Exact same problem Exhaust #4 "Works for Me" Hope is running thin... The guy at the shop was at awe on what to do so he recommended a DI/DO Flowmaster yuck for flowmaster, but I really need an exhaust that is daily drivable so lets go with it. Got it installed and its sounds very good. Low grumble and sounds good on accelleration. Felt good on highway with lil resonance so this is where I am currently at Exhaust #5 "The Future" If more mods come along I will probably switch for a magnaflow because I think there's is designed to flow much better and I believe I will enjoy the sound a bit more the Flowmaster should flow plenty, but if you like the sound of the Magnaflow more, then go for it

Have you looked at www.digi-key.com? They have friggin everything. I've bought twice from them and they are very good and timely. Or Mouser, Jameco, MCM, maybe Antique Electronic Supply for the really obscure pots/multi-stage variable caps... If those places don't have it there's a good chance it wasn't made I'm not replacing a part. It's for my senior design project. Need a linear or log taper? Not sure yet.- Welcome to the IHoP

100$ for the brand new water pump from the Cadillac stealership, 50$ for a rebuilt one from an autoparts store but everything I read said nothing but a brand new one works... Another 25$ for the specialty tool to get the actual water pump out, 15$ for the new belt and cover plate gasket. All in all I ended up spending ~200$ and 3hrs. The book time is 3hrs so it isn't to bad, hate to see what a dealer would charge to change it. The actual work is fairly easy, I took plenty of time and didn't hurry anything. I could have been done in almost half the time if the back bolt holding the cover plate on wasn't hidden behind the biggest wire bundle EVER. In order to change it you have to pull a belt cover off (its driven off the front bank's top camshaft), loosen the belt, pull the tensioner pulley off to remove the belt. Next you unbolt four bolts to get the front plate off, insert your special do-hicky thing-a-ma-jog tool into the hole, get 'er lined up and push like hell; it's an 1/8 turn cam-lock on the water pump. After that it'll just pull right out, clean the plates and o-ring spots up, stick the new water pump in the same way it came out and bolt it all back together and your ready to run. $100 for a GM water pump isn't terrible, that's cheaper than one for an LT1 Thankfully they didn't do something as stupid as putting the water pump right above a damn optispark... lol, no kiddin'....- Welcome to the IHoP
does any one here know of a good source for potentiometers? specifically a 0 - 5k ohm one?
