Why do all the Q magnets crack!?!?
I completely agree, in retrospect the Q wasnt for me. I wanted something that sounded good but my hunger for volume took over and I got gains happy with improper electrical, and the Q is not meant for that. I got a stinger sp1700 as a second battery and I'm looking into an irragi alt before I turn anything back up again.

Why do all the Q magnets crack!?!?
I voided the warranty a long time ago when the coil burnt from a clipped signal. Even if that had never happened though the magnet cracked after a year of owning the sub. All I can do is fix it up myself until it is beyond all repair, which shouldnt happen unless it completely shatters or burns up. Wow fifufme that looks oddly familiar (Besides that ridiculously messed up coil) Was your center pole piece stuck to the magnet because thats what happened to mine.

Sub caught on fire?
is that a 15 or an 18? The basket and motor are still fine and quite tempting

I LOVE my 12" BL
Ive been wanting to get a 12" BL for a while now as an upgrade/downsize for my 15" Q... What options did you get and what are your box specs?

Why do all the Q magnets crack!?!?
Ive had it for almost exactly a year now. The coil blew a month or two ago because I was overpowering it and/or clipping it for a while because im an idiot, then this magnet ordeal. I dont expect every Q to do it but its just an odd coincidence that both my brothers and mine cracked bad enough to bind the coil, and within 2 months of each other.

Why do all the Q magnets crack!?!?
We didnt have to take his apart to fix it only a small portion of the magnet had shifted, so I dont know if he had a missing screw.

Why do all the Q magnets crack!?!?
I know its not all, its more that nearly every cracked magnet ive seen from natural causes is on a Q, it doesnt happen much, but they seem much more prone to it then any other sub I know of. Fifufme that sucks with the BTL, I couldnt stand to be subless for more than a day or two so I had to fix it myself lol. I believe your screw was missing because, well, mine was and I gots a picture.

Why do all the Q magnets crack!?!?
First my brothers now mine and I've read of several others... So of course I had to go about fixing it... Had to shim the gap to respace it evenly, and you can see the bottom left screw isnt there and that lines up with where the crack first showed up A little innovation and lots of epoxy fixed the magnet Looks kinda artsy if you ask me If youre wondering about the 18 ga wire coming out of the sub those are my leads to the coil since I blew that a few months ago and rewired my own Just thought Id share my most recent headache with the Q, but its back to beating and sounds pretty good so I cant complain a whole lot, or maybe i should and try to get a discount on the 12" BL ive been wanting

Bad weekend for the Fi Q
And the project is over! The wire... 18 awg high temp copper Shiny basket! Haha empty basket in box it looked cool Everything drying up I guess in my excitement I forgot to take pics of the coil... I coated it in epoxy and my dmm shows it at .9-1 ohm, so not too bad. Glued the dustcap on and went to testing in my 2.3+polyfill sealed box... Well before I put the cone back in I noticed the new coil is significantly heavier... Now when the bass hits there isnt a tight beat but a smoother thud, still really loud and the lows seem a bit more accentuated. I havent put it back in my ported box yet nor will I be able to for a while. The sub is ridiculously stiff I dont know how much it will loosen up over time but overall I guess this project is kind of a success... just doesnt sound as good as fi can do it.

Bad weekend for the Fi Q
So this last weekend I came home for spring break. I have a 15" Q and my brother has a 12" q. Saturday night my sub quit playing and I was a little drunk so I didnt worry about it. On sunday we built a new box for my brothers new truck(he unhooked in perfect condition 3 weeks ago) and by the time we installed it we realized the top magnet was cracked all the way around and shifted about a 1/8 inch, so the coil was grinding and sounded awful. We ghetto fixed his by beating the magnet back into place with a rubber mallet and siliconing it in place, now it sounds fine. The next day I went to diagnose my problem. I blew the sub when I was drunk when I turned my deck and bass knob settings up too far and now the coil is burnt. Im going to try to make a new single 1 ohm coil since I was running the dual 2-ohm at 1 ohm anyway. Its retarded I know but it can't hurt anything and if I fail horribly I'll look into a recone. Nothing wrong with Fi at all, none of this was any fault of the company and I still love them, it was just a really bad weekend

How to make/set crossover
Well M5, Im set on the equipment, especially since I custom installed the 3.5's at the bottom of my pillars... So Im stuck with those but I figure the extra 3.5 will just give a little fuller sound. What are good crossovers and slopes to get a balanced sound? If there's any extra info you need please let me know.

How to make/set crossover
Thanks man thats a really helpful site... What do you think the best crossover frequency would be with 3.5 2-ways in the dash and 6.5 midbass in the doors? I have no experience with this and dont want it to sound too awful, I was thinking around 400 or 500hz but I also get the feeling thats too high.

How to make/set crossover
So after much searching throughout the internet I still cannot figure out how to make a crossover. All I want to do is put a 12db/octave high pass on my 3.5" 2 ways at 500hz and a 12db/octave low pass on my 6.5 midbass at 500. All speakers are 4 ohm. I dont know if I need a capacitor and an inductor for each crossover or just one for each. Can someone please help explain how to do this or hook me up with some site links? Please and thank you in advance.
