  1. I actually meant just the screws that hold the sub. should they go through both pieces? sorry it sounded different in my head ;P
  2. Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but I have a front double baffle that I'm about to screw an sx 12 to and was wondering should I try and get screws to penetrate all the way through both layers or the first layer. I was kind of wondering if it barely makes it through the first layer that there may be separation between the two pieces.
  3. sounds like a plan to me thanks for the input
  4. ah gotcha i've seen that name thrown around here a few times
  5. if only there were a few cs57cf
  6. true i just don't want it wailing one day and then blam the dustcap ruptures and something happens to damage the coil or any other part of the sub. i mean if it wont do something like that then i wont hesitate to bump it.
  7. its worth a shot as long as it doesnt come apart on me one day on a bump
  8. i planned on one day down the road to add some audiocontrol processing.
  9. is the dustcap on this something that i can do with a knife and some parts or is it something i need done by a seasoned sub builder?
  10. haven't made the final decision yet you guys have brought up some good ideas so im rolling those around for a bit.
  11. Any other suggestions than silicone. Is it really ok to use silicon to fix this situation. It wont settle in and crack again after it hardens?
  12. so the sundown is a clear front runner here but that boss on group buy is peaking my interest especially the price. But does it really have enough power to run what i want?
  13. Buying a 1996 Lincoln Town Car I'm replacing the stock speakers of course but not going overboard this time so I was thinking for the front doors a set of Focal Ca1 # 5" x 7" Access Series Car Speakers # Power Handling: * Peak: 240 watts per pair / 120 watts each * RMS: 120 watts per pair / 60 watts each # All weather woven fiberglass cone woofer # Butyl rubber surround # 1" Aluminum inverted dome tweeter (TN44) # Stamped steel basket # Humidity resistant cone # Rotating tweeter # 4 ohms impedance And the speaker rack in the back a set of Focal 690 cvx # 6" x 9" Focal Polyglass 2-Way Coaxial Speakers # Power Handling: * Peak: 320 watts per pair / 160 watts each * RMS: 160 watts per pair / 80 watts each # Polyglass cone # Butyl rubber surround # Adjustable aluminum inverted dome tweeter # Frequency Response: 50 - 20,000 Hz # 4 ohms impedance # 1-1/4" Voice coil diameter # 1/2" Voice coil height # 3-1/2" Magnet So my question is what 4 channel should I go with, my main selections are the Audioque 4x90 and the Sundown SAX-100.4 so let me hear your opinions or if you may have any more suggestions. Thanks for any information fellas.
  14. sorry i didn't for some reason wait for the images to finish.
  15. So my ex had a cat and my subs suffered for it that will teach me to leave them lying around (haven't even used them yet). It's a RE SX 12 from about 2005-2006. Is there anyone that can rebuild it or am i looking at a loss. Its not been used so everything is good just not the cap that was punctured. Thanks for any advice toward a fix. I want to use the set in a 1996 lincoln town car I hope at least.
  16. I think he is talking about noise cancellation from the sound waves reaching each other at the same time. I listen to a good combination of everything no jazz or classical really. One per door and leaning toward active since I will be running a few audio control devices.
  17. I’m looking for a bit of knowledge from the bright minds on the forum which is all of you guys since I’m sure you all have a great amount of help you can provide me with. I have an 1998 Chevy Blazer I currently am using two Alpine Type-R twelve’s but want to start building a system leaning toward better SQ. I know the basics about how I want to hook it up but looking forward to some advice on a few components. I am fitting four six and a halves in the doors and two tweeters I am thinking of going from my twelve’s to ten’s for a little better response. From what I see there are a few brands that look good from JL, Focal, Cadence, Seas, Alpine, etc. Now for the subs I was thinking again JL, Alpine, Sundown, SSA, Fi, and I know there’s more so that’s where you guys can support me with a few ideas. And if there is a thread about this topic then throw it at me but I checked around in the search and haven’t found this topic. Thanks again guys for any information I can use. By the way my money range is about $500 or so somewhere in the access to poly range from focal is where I think I am at. I have room for twelve’s if you think that it’s as feasible for as good as ten’s for response.
  18. May make a change in amp back to Sundown maybe to Orion im not sure. And I've been looking at the Focals but man they seem a little on the pricey end
  19. why is that? i heard MB is are great for SQ.

  23. i do enjoy some body rattling from time to time
  24. BTW the RE's are dual 2 ohm so wiring down is limited to 2 ohms if im not correct. I cant get a 1 ohm load is what I'm getting at unless i wire both subs together and run a single larger amp.
