  1. alright cool. from what ive been reading, ill be ok even IF i do upgrade to a true 1000 watt amp, with 4g. thanks guys! any replies to the speaker wire?
  2. im looking to do the big 3 in my truck. i was wondering if i could do this in 4awg instead of 1/0 since all im running is the setup in my sig and not even 1000 watts. i have no plans of upgrading in the near future, so i figure why not. im gonna be using knu for the wire, and their 4awg is a lot cheaper per foot then the 1/0. also, i have everything i need for my sub and amp and everything, except speaker wire. i was also looking at knu for this. i was wondering what you guys which speaker wire from them, and which gauge you guys would recommend. if you guys could give me some links that would be awesome. THANKS! for any info you guys can give.
  3. im from central Indiana. all the people around here have hard-ons for MTX, Alpine, Kicker. the local shop told me to stay away from things like Fi, SSA, RE. My buddy has 2 15in type-r's, said hes gonna get a MRP-500 hooked up to each and enter some competitions...
  4. i have the 9884. its my first aftermarket hu. i like it. i think its a little hard to get around the menus and stuff though. if i were to do it over i would get either the 9886 or a comparative Pioneer Premier.
  5. I have a Alpine CDA-9884. I got this in January, and used it until about 2 weeks ago. I got a different vehicle, and now have the hu in my 1998 dodge ram 1500. its been in for about a week. now the issue: when i have the hu on the CD player or iPod, music is only played out of the speakers in the back doors. The truck is a quad cab. On the harness, the factory hu had a black ground, i was told to clamp that with the Alpine black. And the blue/black from the Alpine i clamped with the blue/black from the truck harness. I left the reg blue by its self since i dont have a remote wire ran for an amp right now. I hope i did that right. My questions is basically why is it on the regular tuner (FM), music comes from the tweets and all the door speakers, but on the CD player or iPod it only plays from the back. I put the fader to the front, thinking it was just off, but when even when i did that nothing came out of the front mids/highs. Everything worked perfectly fine in the first vehicle i had it in, so i dont understand why it doesn't now. ANY help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
  6. on the wattage of what the headunits put out, what is the the purpose of peak? RMS is what it will do continually correct?
  7. yeah i like how on crutchfield you can get the install stuff free, but i guess if you find what you want on a ebay for cheap, you can get the stuff with the money you saved. i told him stick to something like Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood. thanks for the info!!
  8. im lookin for a headunit for my buddy. all he needs is 1 set of RCA's, and just the basic headunit with CD/MP3 playback. he doesnt wanna spend more then $250. thanks guys!
  9. cant the BL take A LOT more then 1200? my ssd will take that...?
  10. yeah too bad. thanks though!
  11. alright thanks.
  12. yep. except i only need it for 1 12, and it needs to be on the drivers side.

  16. alright cool! thanks. im takin everything out tomorrow and gonna redo all the settings and see what happens. ill let all you guys know. btw what part of Indiana are you in?
  17. NEVER! because i dont wanna ruin on my alt or drain the battery.
  18. yeah they do when i go higher then 20 on the volume.
  19. i've had the box for almost a month now. should i still smell it? how much of an effect would you guys think my set-up is having on my alt and battery? i keep it between 15-20. i plan on doing big 3 as soon as possible, but until then, should i baby it more or what?
  20. alright thanks guys. i just was confused cause i have smelled glue before and it didnt smell like glue, it smelled like wood.
  21. yeah i've read that 2 other times. my question is if its normal to smell what i think is wood from the box, and also if that has anything to do with clippings, and if my settings on the hu/amp other then the gains are ok, or if i need to change them.
