  1. I was thinking two inner tubes with a woven cloth sandwiched in between for structural reinforcement . Double baffle at least, to support it. Then another baffle on top with bolts, and washers running throughthe perimeter of the surround. That much power, and heavy cone . I don't think one inner tube by itself can hold it. Also think it would be beneficial to have some kind of cylinder around the piston shaft / pole piece Just some kind of guide to keep side to side movement in check . Think they did an awesome job in all areas except those two . Would love to see them revisit the myth, and tweak their design . It has potential i agree. i think this "myth" and their design has alot more potential then they had time to really take advantage of. you gotta hand it to them. while we all agree that the sub could be better designed, it was designed well for the time frame they had. they are smart, i'll give them that... ryan...come on down bro..lol..always looking for a good person. and i don't know if we'll actually get around to doing this. we are pretty busy at the moment, but who knows? maybe i can talk scott into it..lol.. adrian...maybe an extreme class? problem would be is motor rpm. must organizations that allow the motor on don't allow over ~1200rpm. maybe rig up a seperate motor?? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  2. strips of aluminum sndwiching the intertube and thru bolted... also, thinking about using a second, smaller intertube and actually making a "spider"..... there is alot more, but i don't wanna type it all out and then us not do it...lol.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  3. very clean!! (well,it has the potential..lol) i like it alot..good job! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  4. are you looking for a set of plans? with layout and all? you might want to email mike directly for proper size and application as he has actually used the rl-p in home i believe.... with the proper sizd box, poly fill shouldn't be necessary, unless you are going for ultimate sq in which your wnating to cancle internal standing waves... bracing will need to be on all long panels...especially with that power and at that tuning...lol...that's going to be a ground shaker.... wish i could help you more, but i think mike himself is the man to talk to on this one.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  5. that's actually a pretty good box you have there for what you are after... what exactly is confusing about it? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  6. and it was an aluminum cone... and it is a woofer..it produced 16hz notes...spin the engine faster and it'll produce those frequencies as well...lol... we are toying around with the idea of redoing that experiment at work...with the same model of car as well..lol.. btw...ROE has the episode up for those who can't watch it otherwise....18 minutes of it... and the washboard was 8" apart, 4" tall....according to the episode..but they were probably measuring at the top... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  7. lol...mini speakers....go big or go home!!! whomever thought of that hasn't heard a true serious system....you need to send them a pic of a folded horn...lol... steve..what's with the nasty taste? ramos..it's all good, 16-17hz...at 161 dbs, either one is insane!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  8. depending upon the size and shape, that isn't a bad price for a FG enclosure. lots of labor go into a FG enclosure to get the look that everyone likes..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  9. you are welcome aaron. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  10. no isolator, and the inverter is wired direct to the front battery with 8 gauge. it's got it's own ground as well. but all the rca's run by it. i've tried a noise isolator on the rcas from the xbox to the h/u, but that only cuts it down some, doesn't get rid of it. we are at a loss... truth is, we've had a run of noise, all involve memphis rcas. we've changed nothing else about the way we install, yet we are getting alot more noise issues.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  11. they called it busted because the car didn't fall apart. after the sunroof was destroyed, teh massive destruction stopped. i agree ramos..they didn't really have the time, nor do i think they really thought this kind of stuff could happen, to design a proper sub. in anycase, with this particular car, i don't think the results would've changed. well, they might have gotten a 165...lol... denim, it will be reaired... 12. i thought wayne said 16..but oh well..lol...in any case, that's jsut awesome!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  13. very simply put, and take this how you will.... when a rotor's surface becomes wavey from uneven pressure or the adding of the material from the pads, and they do indeed do this, that is a warped rotor... maybe the terminolgy is incorrect, so what? that is what is commonly referred to as a warped rotor. leave it at that. i didn't close the other thread, but i'm closing this one. and quit with the pm's already. everybody is allowed their opinion, we'll only step in if they cross the line in harrassing the other person, not their opinion. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  14. true..lol..but it worked... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  15. we actually do this quite a bit...and have seen no ill effects as of yet. and we don't use the isolation thing either, jsut a second fuse in front of the second battery. and that is only to protert that long run in case of short... yeah, get rid of the cap. with the larger battery designed for this, like the batcap 800, you get the best of both worlds.... an example for the naysayers.... 2000 maxima, 4 gauge wiring from front to back, yellow top up front, factory alternator. in back, a pr100.4, ma audio hk4000d and a svr battery. even on huge bass hits, according to the volt meter on the ma audio, 11.5 is the lowest it's dropped..and yeah, the pr is ran at 2 ohm and the ma audio the same. also in this car is three screens, a 600 watt power inverter and a xbox 360. while i'm not saying it's the safest route, it definitely works and we have had zero issues with the car to date. (other then the inverter introducing a shitton of noise. we know it's the problem because the noise goes away with the inverter off. any ideas on how to cure this?) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

however, the surface is the rotor and thus it's warped. end of arguement. you just caused your own defeat, in a sense. this is done guys. otherwise send it in to mythbusters, let them settle it. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  17. unsure of where to put this, i'll do it here... with wayne harris himself onthe termlab, mythbusters proceeded to bust the myth that spl will destroy a car immediately. by building a ~50" speaker, attaching it directly to the driveline of the MB diesel and revving the gas, they proceeded to do a 161+ @ 16 hz legal on the tl. in the process they popped the sunroof completely out of it's tracks. the slow motion camera was cool as you could see the sunroof move in and out with the aluminum coned sub. they called tghe myth busted, along with wayne, because as was easily pointed out, when the sunroof popped, all damage really ceased. the air pressure was allowed to escape. was a neat show. 161 @ 16hz..lol...that's going to be hard to beat... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  18. da list top... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
