Welcome to the IHoP
what year? i owned a 1975 cb750k4...first year of the 4 carbs IIRC. of course it got slightly modded and could spit the 1/8 in about 8-8.5 seconds @ 85mph. not hte quickest, but i was still tuning on it when i decided i didn't like the look anymore...lol...i could run with all the new rockets except the big boys (1000cc or bigger). it was neat. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
WHAT????? actually, i traded a rice cruiser in on the train. and the dealership sends them off to an affiliate dealership, they don't keep them on site. but at this stage, i'd roll a crotchrocket again just to be riding... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
we actually talked about that, but the dealership isn't set up for it. they are in the organizing phase of actually renting harleys, but unbtil them, i's assedout. hell, i'd take a sporty jsut to have something to ride. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Automotive Slang/Jargon
in illinois, you have to double clutch to pass the CDL test, and they watch for it! and you have to double clutch whether upshifting or downshifting. you also have to downshift twice before each stop. double clutching in older trucks is real work, some newer ones, not too bad. but it's a crap ton easier to "slipshift" (matching revs and not using the clutch) then it is to DC. waterbox= spot to get the tires wet before a burnout at a dragstrip tree= the starting lights nomansland= the end of the dragstrip where it's all brakes and prayers. and if your prayers aren't answered... sandbox= where you go after nomansland trailered= where you go after losing at the strip puckertime= that moment before you know something bad or on the edge is about to happen whiteknuckle= gripping the steering wheel extremely tight, usually associated with puckertime holeshot= leaving the starting line first, usually by quite a bit hole= starting line wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
sup? i have a freaking summer chest cold and it's driving me nutz!! it's been low 80's here the last week and i can't enjoy it. all i do is cough and hack up phlem (spl?). it's getting really old. to top that off (this is where i get the king of pwned title), my scoot still isn't fixed. 70 year old lady owns me, causes wreck. 3 weeks for just an estimate owns me. bent frame owns me. not wanting to wait 6 weeks for basic vivid black tins owns me, so i lose my barbed wire paint. (would have been two weeks longer AFTER getting bike back to get that done). constant great riding weather owns me while bike is in shop. all my bro's are riding everyday, some even ride by the house and torment me. all of this since february 20th. going on 8 weeks, monday the 17th will make it 8 weeks. go ahead and hand me my crown. right now the only thing going for me is a couple of sweet installs done (at least IMO). wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

fan in monoblock......better??
what denim said. there is alot of amplifier experience on this board and a few companies who make them. so it's natural for the board to wanna lean towards those companies. but bias? not here. closest things to bandwagons here are SI and SS, and even then other subs get recommended right along side of those. but the simple truth remains, you should take all advice given, throw away half of it and take the rest with a grain of salt. for while our ears and experience tell us one thing, yours will tell you something else. we can guide you, but you have to do the walking. leaning towards RF, nice. either great the old punch stuff or the very new stuff, stay away from everything inbetween (i've got a blown 800.2 in my garge. $12 worth of parts will fix it, but because of RF's board design my guy can't fix it. so $150 or so to fix it? nah. it'll be a paper weight.) but that's my experience and what i get from some serious competitors. i work with a world champion everyday damn near. my choice? memphis first. but they are outa your price range new, unless you go ebay and then you get no warranty. orion is a great choice. i absolutely love my 2500d. hifonics is a nice choice. the nemesis that usually pushes the rl-p has been flawless except for the name not glowing, which i care little about. ma audio. wow, big power, but big current draw. kinda reminds me of jbl in that sense. more advice? listen first. not just to us, but to the producets if you can. go to stores, playwith the amps. look at features. weigh what you read with what you hear. can't hear the amp you want? don't just research these boards, look into the crapton of sites that are strictly for reviews. google the amp your after, your sure to find a review site in the results. look up termpro and see what the competitors are using. that's always a good indication, but beware. some of those guys run modded amps or more then 14 volts. all in all, this is one of the trickiest parts of car audio.alot of good technology out there, but budget is going to limit one to just what he/she can get. and, IMO, here (amps) more then anywhere, you truely get what you pay for. good luck and keep us up to date! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Dash kit...
usually won't fit that way. in 99% of all kits the radio goes above the pocket. now the resource ful can reverse them, but i've seen times where fitment became an issue. somtimes with the radio on bottom it hits something inside the dash or the trim doesn't fit. but hey, give it a whirl, it's not like dash kits are expensive anyway. if you mess one up, you can replace it way too easily. and don't forget... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Amp for a SS RL-p15
because we can!! lol..but for real, i'm just too lazy to put the actual amp for the rl-p (hifonics nemesis nx750d, yeah a rated 750wrms @ 1ohm) into the truck. i used the orion when i demo's the rl-s and jsut left it there. but your right, they don't need 1200-1500 wrms. 500-700 is more then enough. i do like the idea of having the headroom to add another if ya wish. just make sure impedence will allow such a purchase. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

RE SE12 Change to RL-i
with the 8's u'll end up with a little less cone area then the 12, and an enclosure just south of the same size (assuming about 2ft^3 for the 12, you'll need about 1.5^3 or so for the eights)..so i'd imagine pretty close performance wise. maybe a slight edge to the se. with the 10's you'll get more cone area in roughly the same sixe box, same assumption as above. edge here easily goes to the 10's. even if the se has more throw, the tens have 40in^2 more cone, or so. all in all, it's a close call. box is going to be the biggest factor in determining the rl-i's (either size) performance, especially compared to the se, which isn't a slouch. my choice? the pair of 10's. whilest i like the 8's (do i ever love my rl-i 8!!) something about 10's is just cool too. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

best sql vehicle
but sql is so acceptable now. and it's a fairly accurate term. so why the peeve? and x2 and the second part! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee The peeve comes from the fact that I think n00bs come to think that having 140+dB of substage is somehow "SQ"...when it fact it's just noise. You can strive for both, but you're going to compromise on both ends of the spectrum to meet somewhere in the middle. The term also implies that SQ setups have no output potential - which is obviously false. Just IMHO. aww, understood. and actually, agreed. however, i do disagree that a 140+ system is just noise. one awesome example comes to mid.. 1995 or so accord, loaded with jl's best equipment, including the w7. easily took first at QOTR 2004 in the rookie (i can't remember the exact term, but basicly no0b) class. did a 137 legal. yeah, 137 isn't 140, but had he ran outlaw, he'd been over 140...and had he ran ported..well, you get the idea. i mean, 140+sql is possible. but i beileve, like just about everything, it's the internet "experts" who actually give sql a bad rap. all boom and no actually staging isn't sql, i'll agree. and i'll quit here...time to start a new thread perhaps? anyway, i agree with ramos too...most of the pleasure, at least for me, comes from teh building process. to prove someone wrong, or like the 71 impala build, to make someone happy. buy the car you want, we'll help ya build the soundstage for it. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Help with Rl-i8s
waht he said! the rl-i 8 doesn't need huge room....75 to 1ft^3 per sub would be plenty. heck, the rl-i8 in my boys room is in .17ft^3 sealed and it shakes things.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

1971 impala build
well, thanks for the compliments folks! i really appreciate them. anyway, for tom...the car in all it's glory... and for you late 70's to mid 80's muscle fans....a malibu thrown if for good measure while the body on the malibu needs some work, the drivetrain does not. the car is stout. i might be doing some trading involving that car... has to the 71 imp, while it looks good in pics, the paint is shot. solvent pops and bondo pits all over it. they tried to sand some of the orangepeel out and did a crap ass job of that too. the car started life yellow.... enjoy, and thanks again!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
