Uh Oh.......
i gave it 1200wrms...IMO, more then enough. and personally, i think it excelled with that. but then again, i don't think it needs a really huge box either. 2.5 cubes tuned to 28hz + 1200wrms + 12" RL-s = really big smile on my face! i would think 800wrms in a 3.5 ported affair woiuld be really sweet. but then again, maybe i'm just a basshead who doesn't know sq when it slaps him in the face...lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

SI Mag D2 vs Soundsplinter RL-P vs A/D/S 312rs/4
i agree....i'd knock the A/D/S off the list as well. nothing against them, but SI and SS are hard to beat. that said, as was mentioned by denim, the new RL-p's only come in d4, so you'll have to find a used d2. again as was mentioned, effendi has a slightly used one in the classifieds here. IMO, one of the best sql subs going. i run mine in 1.25ft^3 sealed (most of the time)and love it to death (off a rated 750wrms). currently it's in 2.5ft^3 ported, tuned to 28hz, getting 1200wrms. it's niiiiiice! while i have no experience with the old MAGs, the new ones are another top notch SQL woofer. like the RL-p, they will drop low. and get loud. as to whether the new ones are worth the extra money over the old ones, well, i'd say that with so many previous generation MAG owners , who have bought the new MAG, so easily seperated from their old ones, tells me that the new ones are indeed that much better. also, like tirefryr stated, your enclosure is going to play a big role. a sealed box, in the 1.25-1.5ft^3 range, with the power you have would be the enclosure i'd suggest. if you crave a bit more output, i'd suggest a 1.75-2ft^3 ported affair, tuned in the 30-34hz range. that will gain you some ouput, get plenty low and maintain a really nice level of sq. let us know how it goes!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

RL-p not impactfull enough
inverted shouldn't affect anything. i've read that when u invertert, that u wire in reverse polarity. (i have also read it doesn't matter). so first thing i'd suggest, is wire it up using reverse polarity (if u already haven't) and see if that helps. second thing, is try going even a touch smaller with box size. first i'd use drop the sub in normal (if u have the depth). that'll take the net volume down to just over 1 cube. if u like that sound there, then u know u have the right enclosure for u. if u still want to go inverted, just slug the box (2x4's, scrap mdf, whatever u can attach inside the box) to take up the extra .18ft^3. hope that helps... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Guess what i got....
looking good... and real quick, those scuffs on the basket are my fault...the mounting hole in my box wasn't big enough. oops... :ban: and on low power in the big sealed, jelly, what do you mean you've heard better? output wise or sq wise? because in all honesty, in car, IMO, both of those boxes are too big. kinda cool though it can handle 800wrms in 7ft^3 sealed or 6ft^3 ported..lol. i bet not too many twelves would like that. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
good morning i've got to go build a box that will do a 156, hopefully...lol...payment for said box? if it'll do the 156, four, yes four, memphis mc4000d mojo's....will the said box do a 156? probably not drop in, but oh well...lol...it'll be fun anyway. i've still got my fingers crossed. if it does even louder, he might throw in a pair of kicker kx (or sx, whichever) 2500.1's.... hehe..wish me luck... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

RL-s early review
sounds better to my ears, but isn't as distortion free. the rl-s does everything the rl-p does, only cleaner. as to output, that's going by ear. i will put it on the mic though. no, ounce for the ounce, the rl-s is a better woofer for the guy wanting it all. ultimate clarity, great output, killer looks, really big power handling and smooth transistions, that is the rl-s. great clarity, great output, killer looks, big power handling and smooth transistions, that is the rl-p. kinda like the good, better, best thing. sometimes there isn't much that seperates the three, but there is always something. in this case, it's the clarity and power handling. the topology is super clean and strong. and that's what puts the rl-s just above the rl-p. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

My new babies!
solid core = more resistance, correct? isn't that something a person wants to stay AWAY from? aren't most interconnects solid core? round sure, but solid anyway. so how does rectangular differ from the round, other then shape? as to speaker wire, shouldn't one just look at strand count? surely one wouldn't want solid core in this, or am i misreading something? and if it's stranded, shouldn't one just look at strand count, like power wire? i'm not saying that wire won't make a difference in sound, i know it will in output. but like psycho, i want to understand why it's going to make a difference. i'm sure stuff like purity of the copper/silver/gold is going to make a big difference, as well as density. but is that all there is too it? is that what makes these tara cables that much better? i have read some on the website, but again, like psycho, i don't want the smoke and mirror marketing explaination. i'd like the "bare wire", if you will, necessities of the subject. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Home > Car ??
me? HT pwns ca, by alot. but i'm a basshead, so my car has got to boom, staging is less important, but i wnt everything to atleast be clear and clean. so my goals in car audio are easy to attain, well, not all goals. i still have to hit 150 legal in my truck NW. but u get the point. HT doesn't have to be expensive. except maybe power. but as far as the speakers/subs are concerned, there are so many options, there just isn't a need to drop a crapload of money. for what i have in my truck, money wise, i could easily build a HT system that would literally tear my house to pieces. and sound awesome doing it! brad, i say get the car sounding liveable. then build ur HT. there isn't any reason why u can't have both. u just have to focus on one at a time. and i believe once u get the HT where u want it, it won't change as much as the car. as soon as my truck gets done, the house is in trouble...muhahahahaha wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
