Secrets to box building
X2 with the flush bit!! then use a 3/8" roundover bit (even with carpeting) for that ultra profressional look. as too the bracing...there is such as thing as too much. for spl purposes anyway. u should just brace enough to stop any flexing/resonance. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

spl subs
all out spl and 1000wrms? the re sx in about 2.5-3ft, tuned upwards of 40hz, that should just about make u deaf. while the ss rl-p's would indeed hold their own, i wouldn't recommend them. why? they are an sq sub that can get loud. they aren't designed to just thrash all day, though in the proper enclosure, they will. the re se's, i have no experience with, but again, i'll refrain from suggesting them. why? while two twelves have the potential to be louder, u mentioned the weird layout of the vehicle. u also made mention of buying 1.8ft^3 boxes. so that tells me space is limited. so instead of trying to put two twelves in a space that might be good for sql, that could potential starve the subs for spl, i'll suggest the one sub setup. especially since that one sub is known to get loud. it'll make install alot easier, IMO. so again, i say grab the re sx, find/build/buy a 2.5-3ft^3 enclosure, 40-50in^2 of port, tuned in the 40-44hz area... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

anyone want to help out a n00b with box design?
what exactly is ur current setup? playing around, i've got the best looking graphs to be about 4ft^3, tuned to 35hz, with two 4" round ports...ur lowend roll off starts at about 40hz...it's at -6db at 30hz, not counting car transfer funtion. anyway...i used 1kw as total input power..and the t/s specs from pioneers website... i'm sure we can do better with a bit more info.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
actually, supa has a good idea man...just make a new username....pm the ppl that u feel need to know...and go on with it. or jsut leave ca.com....falk 'em.....that place will never grow up. it's the laughing stock of the car audio community. used to be different....jlaine, ramos and zane all hung out there...bigbassman, rangerman and a few others have all left. there really isn't a want for a mature, intelligent person to be there. if ur not on the bandwagon, ur a nobody...lol... oh yeah..if ur system can't hit 16000000dbzzzzzzz, u gotta suck..lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

15" RL-p in a teensy car
yep, my bad! i was thinking 12..u have a 15.....sorry bro! i agree with mike..aim for about 2ft^3 sealed, inverted or otherwise. no loss of output or sound quality by going inverted. if u go ported, aim for 2.5-3ft^3, tuned in the 30-34hz range. 30-45in^2 of port.... and if u invert and go ported, like scott mentioned, make sure u account for port displacement... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

15" RL-p in a teensy car
inverted or otherwise.... 1.25-1.35ft^3 sealed... 1.75-2ft^3 ported tune3d to 30-34hz...25-35in^2 of port.. if u go inverted, all u have to do is the math to figure out how big the box will be with no sub displacment. ported, u'll just need to figure in port displacement... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Just receieved my new RL-p
with a 1000wrms on tap reza, u really need the 2ft^3 tuned to 32-34 hz ported enclosure. anywhere from 25-35in^2 of port will work just fine. i ran mine in ~2ft^3, 32in^2 of port tuned to 34hz and wow...that sub rocked! loud, low and responsive! from 750wrms to 1200wrms, the rl-p in that size box is a dream! if plans are what u need, like finebar mentioned, get ahold of aneonrider (scott), who will be more then happy to design and provide a cut sheet...if dimensions are all you need, i'll be more then happy to help as well... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

the alero install
and away we go... PG xenon d4 10", ~1ft^3 tuned to 40hz, kicker 400.1 with a birthsheet over 500wrms..... the embossed bos design on the left came from a pic of another box he saw...the one around the ten is because this box was originally built for a pr10..teh xenon is quite a bit deeper... teh white flakes in the trunk turned out to bethe remanents of hiw rear infinity 6x9 cones...lol...they just literally fell apart.no reason. been in the car about a year or so, off factory power, now sony hu power..lol...they never noticed a difference in sound... the memphis subs are my old 10" hpo's. i wish i had them back... the still pr0n of coins jumping and the cell phone about to take off, best i could get with my camera... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
