  1. actually, that 2007 GT 1000 is right up jim's alley, IMO. and it's not a bad looking retro look either. and with 992 twin cylinder worth of ccs, that thing should move along quite nicely as well. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  2. those are pretty sweet, but not really jim's style. if he ducati... that 250 scrambler would work. i also like every one of the monster's. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  3. so you had to say it 4 times?? lol (i deleted the other three) sorry to hear about this, that sucks bro. hopefully you can get it squared away soon! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  4. Very good point, works out as I'll have more cash available by then, anyway. What I'm looking for in a bike is...something not outrageous in price, something that'll last for a long time, something that's slightly quirky and oddball in a crowd The newer Triumphs look like a very good option, but they're still slightly over my budget (in the $4k'ish range). I realize something older is going to be more finicky and tempermental, but it's not like I'm going to be depending on it to get anywhere, and a goal of mine this summer is to finally clear out some space in the basement at my folks' place so I have a nice organized indoor area to do maintenance or if I need to fix anything. triumphs have always been kick ass. $4k for a good scoot isn't a bad price, and for that, there's lots of options as well. are you just shopping locally or looking online as well? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  5. Don't need a garage, either, I did mine outside, in the snow But I don't recommend it... Waiting for BM'ers to pop up for sale around here And nobody I know is into European bikes, all the people I know here who ride are Harley folk... and beemers hold their value like a harley as well. sad thing is, it's the wrong time of the year (especially with current gas prices) to be looking to buy a scoot. everyone is out riding, lol! late fall/winter is the time to buy. noone wants to pay for something just sitting in the garage. why beemer? i can see you on a 1200 sporty, and those can be had cheap. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  6. damn wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  7. i just got done talking with Mike and he let me in on a few things that he has lying around. limited quanities for sure, so get them while you can. 12" RL-i drivers. dual 4 versions, $180 plus shipping. he has 3 or 4 left Overstock 8" drivers. yes, 8" drivers. similiar to the vaunted RL-i 8, here's the specs, Qts - 0.405 Qes - 0.442 Qms - 4.778 Fs - 34.289 Hz Re - 5.25 Ohm Ls - 12.16mH Lp - 4.053 mH Rp - 25.46 Ohm Vas - 5.031 L Mms - 214.1 g Cms - 100.6 m/N Bl - 23.39 T*m Sensitivity - 78.44 dB ~17mm Xmax The 8's are built on the TC2+ motor, and the only appreciable differences between the RL-i8 and the Overstock 8 are the use of a paper/kevlar composite cone (no logo), and the lack of a copper shorting ring. Asking $165 + shipping on these. he has about 70 of these available, and i've requested pics. if anyone is interested, shoot mike an email, [email protected] and let him know you saw this thread. you'll be glad ya did!! also, there is a timetable for the return of the rl-i8 and rl-p18. it's not set in stone, so i'll only mention that they are coming back and, fingers crossed, soon! hopefully we can get mike to drop in (he's been pretty damn busy) and clarify a few things. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  8. the rl-p is a bit more geared towards a ported box, it just does well dealed. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  9. damn.. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  10. care to elaborate? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  11. oh wait!!! I GOT IT!!!!!! IB means..... wait for it.... IN BOX so that explains it! he ran his legacy 10's InBox, tuned to 30hz and ported..... though i'm a bit confuzzled over tuned to 30hz AND ported....aren't they the same thing? WAIT! prs tuned to 30hz and then ported maybe?? maybe?? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  12. lol, i'm laughing so hard i can't think of anything smartass to say.... damn you dave!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  13. well, duh! he tuned his IB setup, with a port... hehe, sorry, had too. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  14. at the time the rl-s came out, it's coil technology could only be done in single 3 ohm. it's the first production LMS driver available. you'll have to check out the SSA forum here. it's an 18, but i dunno what they are going to call it or if they are going to include it in the ICON line. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  15. yeah, they are good. bankrupt, but good drivers nonetheless.... lightning audio eclipse early stereo integrity soundsplinter just some of the names that tc sounds OEM'd for... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  16. np..and i don't think you'll be disappointed with the choice. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  17. IME, teh Rl-s doesn't need as big as a box as people think. it did real well in a smaller ported box in the trailblazer, lol. real well!!! but the 3ohm coil is a bitch, hehe. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  18. i choose setup number 2. mark and jacob are stellar guys you can talk too right here jsut about everyday of the year. maybe grab the 1500d instead, lol but that's definitely teh route i would go. nothing but good reviews about both places!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  19. cool. SIU is all of 20 minutes away, lol. though seeing and hearing some of my work might be hard to do. unless the stang is done...or i put something in either vehicle. but still get in touch. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  20. should sound at least decent. tuning is right around a good DD type of tuning. a good battery up front with a larger alt and the BIG 3 should suffice with the power. a second battery wouldn't be needed with those upgrades and just 1200wrms. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  21. the rl-s is the overall better driver, but it does come at a premium, especially compared to the rl-p. also, less wiring options. the rl-p 18 would be a good choice, though 2kwrms might be a bit much. another option would be the SSA 18s that are coming out. if i had to choose the best sub from those three, the rl-s would be it. the rl-p and SSA driver would be tied at a very close second. the rl-s is a monster when it comes to sq and output. not knocking the havoc, but i have no experience with it, or the new SSA driver. i do own an ICON, and it's very comparable to the rl-p, IMO. it does have a bit more power handling then the rl-p. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  22. should sound as good as the install allows. it's truely hard to say how it's going to sound, especially without any idea of how you plan to run the setup. as far as the combo goes, dunno why it wouldn't do well together. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  23. looks good, should be decently loud too! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  24. i think so. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  25. both are excellent drivers. in a sealed application, i would lean towrds the rl-i, from my experience. though you wouldn't be hurt by running either or. like most a/b amps, i'm sure the sundown is only stable at 4 ohm mono. might run at 2, but dunno if jake will warranty it, lol. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
