new towers for me questions
ok, i've got the high end covered...with these planars, thanks ryan but i need help with the mid and sub....i want to do a three way set up. here's some idea's... these for the midbass/range these for the subs i have no idea about the crossovers... i want to do either a 10 or a 12 in each tower (or a pair of something) and either a 5.25 or 6-6.5 for the mid. i don't want to spend a fortune, but i want to thrash my 14 year old set of pioneer towers.... Stage 1.
elias, it looks to be a trim panel....go back to page two, towards the top he has two pics.....one where u can see all around the sides of the amp and then one when u can't. going by that, he just cut and carpeted a trim panel the same size as the front of the enclosure and screwed/braded it to the baffle (my guess is screws, so as to make it removeable). as to cooling, the majority of hte heatsink is exposed, and the trim panel won't be sealed, so i would guess that unless she drive's it hard constantly, it should cool just fine. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

A few advice needed on making a ported enclouser
the problem with bb6p is that it doesn't figure port volume for slot ports correctly. it's a good program, but it's far from perfect. with ur dimensions, i get 4.09ft^3 net BEFORE sub and port displacement....which means ur going to be on the smallish side. however, with a tuning of 35hz..u should be fine.... assuming ur subs are going to displace about .15ft^3 each (rough guess), ur at 3.39ft^3....using a port 12.5t x 2.5w , means it'll be 17" long to get ur tuning to 35hz...that'll leave ya a ~3ft^3 net box..which is on the small side, but should work. another thing u could do is use a couple of round ports. in which case, u won't need as much port area and bb6p can figure the lengths and internal volume pretty darn accurately. besides, on the mic, round is louder..lol....(though u probably won't be able to tell a difference). if u go this route, i'd recommend trying two 4" round....which means u'll need two 4" sch40 pvc ports 15" long for ~35hz tuning and a slightly larger box, 3.1ft^3.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
got some work to do tomorrow... move my dad, make a crate for a xxx to be shipped in...and i've got to start my boy's bookshelves. i've also got to decide on what mid bass and subwoofer to use in my own towers. the planars i got from ryan are going to handle the hogh end...but i'm not too for sure on the rest....definitely want a 3way setup..and 10's or 12's for the lows..(current towers are 14yr old pioneers, with 12's) suggestions? like to stay around $400 or less.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
