DD 9515e or 2-12" RL-p's...
kicker's spl monster...and $700 for the 18 is cheap..they retail around $1700....i got mine for $750 (well, free at first, but i decided to buy it) u'll like the rl-p..lol...the solo can't hold the rl-p's jock when it comes to getting low, loud and sounding great doing it. the solo's get loud first, low second and don't get to sounding great...lol...but can sound good. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

DD 9515e or 2-12" RL-p's...
there's like three ppl here (more i believe) that own that sub...ss3079, njccbflo and tirefryr..give them a pm, or ask in the sub section. they'll give ya the answer ur looking for! which is a good one! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

12 or 15 ?
while the 626 has a decent trunk and will fit the 15..i used to own a 98...the 12 will give ya some left over space. also, it gets loud, loud enough for a 4 dr car..lol. i have a single 12 in 1.25ft^3 sealed in an 04 grandprix off the factory hu and 750wrms rated. even after the factory hu attenuates the bass it's loud and sick low. i love the lows it plays..lol.. so it's really up to u, the 15 will take up more room, but will could potentially yield more output, though u could get real close to a sealed 15 with a ported 12...and they use roughly same size box. also, teh 12 will save ya a bit of money... so..how is ur budget? space? desired output? those will help answer ur question..and again, the 12 is enough for a mid sized car. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

lol, as i listened to the MAG, i truly realized that my midbass is lacking that much. potential project? maybe. as to real subbass, i will definitley stand in line to say that the MAG LOVES to play sub bass. from about 45-50hz down, this thing is STRONG. get real low, in the 20-30 hz range and this thing just reaches. alot. i can only imagine how much stronger it would be down low in a slightly larger box, say 3ft^3 tuned low 30's...shake a car to bits! and ur right, it didn't do spectacular in this enclosure, but it did real well. handled tons of power and like i said earlier, was amazingly clean. was a little slow, but only on the really fast stuff. but u called it, it's a large box sub. at least ported. i didn't even get the kind of excursion aaron got from the 12, even with 2500wrms rated. i really believe the box held it back on the output end of things. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm almost done here.
i know this isn't going to change ur opinion, but oh well... why let someone dictate to u who's forum this is? in reality, it's nobody's, because it's everybody's(save for mark, lol, the owner of the place). we share in it equally. don't let one person decide what u should do. unless that person is u. and in the very least, like dennis just mentioned, at least drop into IHoP and wh0re it up a bit every now and then. and at the risk of sounding rude, don't be selfish and bail. man up and work thru the issue. there is a compromise here and it's simply this...this forum is big enough for everyone. even in the same house. and thanks for the knowledge u've shared. (not too mention, mentioning me by name..lol...i appreciate that.) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

DD 9515e or 2-12" RL-p's...
well... the two 12's will have more cone area, and the potential to get louder. however, DD's are known for getting loud. rl-p's have fantastic sq, whereas with my limited experience with DD's has lead me to believe that sq isn't the strong suit. it's decent, but not great. but then again, none of the installs in which DD's were used are necessarly geared towards sq either. i think both are extremely capable of getting low. the rl-p 12's are the most impressive 12's i've heard (save solo x's) for getting insanely low. while this is mostly a toss-up...my vote is for the rl-p wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

i think i found a way to do a fiberglass ported box it'll be 2.9ft^3 net @ 34Hz w/ 3-4" ports. per sub w/ a 4th 4"port that has some sort of plug so for a comp i can unplug it for 2.6ft^3 net @ 42Hz. hey kent if you could, double check this for me. 2.9ft after all displacements 3-4" ports @ 34Hz....how long do you come up with? i get ~26" using this calculator, which is the one i use all the time , i get ~27 3/8". so u're not too far off from me... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

si d2 15 proto
welp, review time. first, thanks to nick for letting me play with it a bit. i appreciate it a bunch. now on to the nitty gritty... clarity. this sub plays clean. the only time i could get it to distort was with 2500wrms and even then, it slapped more then it distorted. my rl-p is about the only other sub i've heard play this clean. response. using dimmu borgir, i forget the song, tom? ,the MAG had some trouble with the really fast double kicks. while it wasn't bad, it was noticible. switching to ac/dc, i noticed a lack of upper freq's. after listening to several different songs and artists, i came to the conclusion this sub just didn't want to play them loud. but throw in lil john or ludicriss..wow, this thing can sure go low! it loves the low notes, alot! again, my rl-p and my solo x are the only subs i've owned that liked to go this low. output. while this is mostly box dependent, and i don't think my box was big enough, i'll say this. i think it has great potential, and in the right box would be quite loud. however, in this box, 2.5ft^3 tuned to 34hz, it was "just" loud. i had to adjust my settings to get it up to the point i thought it was respectable. don't get me wrong, it was loud, just not as loud as i think it should have been. again, i believe this to be more of a box issue, not sub. adn again, while not the loudest, it was definitely one of the cleanest getting loud. be it 1200wrms or 2500, it was almost impossible to get it to distort. overall i believe this to be a nice sub. this one having a motor issue (chrome on the inside where it didn't belong) probably held it back some. being in too small of a box didn't help it on the output end of things. it is clean, very clean, impressively clean. it handled all but the fastest transients well and with some adjusting, got respectably loud. this is definitely an sql driver and a fine on at that! i wouldn't hesitate to recommend this sub to ppl looking for a sub capable of bieng loud and sounding clean doing it. again, all listening done in 2.5ft^3tuned to 34hz with 25in^2 of port. the sealed thing didn't go thru as the box was sold. nick, i've got the sub packaged, just gotta get it shipped. will try for later this week. thanks again for letting me play with ur baby. it was worth it! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

in theory ported will gain u double the output..or 3db. yet even with that, in ur vehicle, u'll dtill go deaf quite rapidly...lol.. as to the sq, that's up to ur taste. which do u prefer? and also, why not do a 'glass ported box? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

how many cubes for 1 12" rlp off 500 watts
it will play lower in the larger box, also decrease the power handling some.. try the 1.25ft^3 box, u won't be disappointed. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

SS compared to SI 15"
the rl-p is designed to get loud and sound amazing doing it. and it accomplishes that job well. it isn't designed to be the loudest sub on the planet though. denim is mostly right.(only wrong in the idea that the rl-p is an sq only driver) IMO, the rl-p is one of the finest sql drivers u can own. and i've heard/owned/played with some of the best...including teh SI proto mag in my truck at this moment. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

how many cubes for 1 12" rlp off 500 watts
yep, the 2ft^3 ported box does sound amazing with the rl-p. yep..the 1.25ft^3 is after displacement....try 14x14x17.5...assuming 3/4" mdf. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

rl-p w6?
tom is correct..that's SS's rl-i8 (the very first one sold to the public) holding up a funky pup8.. and 600wrms is plenty on an rl-p...plenty. u'll love it with that power! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
can the rl-p be reconed?
mike has mentioned recones before, i can't remember the pricing, but i know he'll do them. rl-ps (the 12's) love 1.25ft^3..lol....mine does! make sure u give us a ava vs rl-p review...damaged or not..lol wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
SS compared to SI 15"
weeeellllllll... the 2 12's would be louder, in theory, due to displacement. but enclosure will play a big part. bad thing is, lol, the rl-p's can and will get nasty low. but they will sound damn fine doing it. i currently have the new MAG proto in my truck, and it does like it low. but for what ur after, i think the rl-p's will be a great choice. but like denim said, both are good subs with good ppl behind them. but i vote rl-p. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

My RLPs in my tC - PICS!
nice install...i'm loving the enclosure! and steve....tom beat me to it..lol.... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

How much can the Rl- i8's handle?
ur not going to mess them up with 600wrms. they are rated for 500..lol...and a pair would be awesome of 1200wrms. .3ft^3 sealed per driver would be nice wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
