i've ran i tin a lil bitty sealed box, and it's by far the best 8 i've ever owned...cv vega and rf hx2 being the other two...period. great sq and gets loud, even in the lil bitty box (.17ft^3 sealed) i'd imagine it will really come alive in ported... with an expedition, i'd recommend at least 6...lol but for real, why not get a pair of rl-p 12's or 15's? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

hmmmm....and the bigger the box the higer the impedance rise? my 6ft ported @ 23 peakes at 3.3ohms. wonder why that is? mostly because u've actually tested urs..lol chinny is going by the bb6p graph. he's trying to figure out the best box available and bb6p at the same time. i think he'll be more thne happy with the 3.8cubes, and then he should actually measure the rise and see how close bb6p was. but still yet, ur box is a touch larger then mine (and yeah, given the varibles, more efficient subs, wired differently) and yet, ur impedence rise is quite a bit lower. so, that brings me to this question(s).. does the impedence the sub(s) are wired to, make that big of a difference with the inbox impedence? (as far as the spike is concerned) does the efficiency of the sub(s) matter? box tuning? port size? if more volume tends to spike higher, how can it also make the sub more efficient? hopefully, u see what i'm trying to get at...it seems as though the more efficient subs are spiking lower, yet they are in a larger enclosure. so if i can make the s18x more efficient with a larger enclosure, shouldn't i also help the spike to lower a bit? and with the new box is coming larger ports (for comp, they will be quite a bit larger, and shorter..lol) looks like i gotz some testing ahead of me...lol wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

pretty much sums it up...i already had the rl-p when i got the xxx... already had the sealed box and the power (750wrms) at the time... everybody (well, not everyone) cried foul because i didn't put more power on the xxx, said that's why it suffered in sealed. did a trade with nick (njccbflo) to acquire my orion 2500d, gave both subs the power (1200wrms and 2500wrms) and got almost the exact same results... neither sub wanted the full blunt of the orion, both loved 1200... and yep, for all the ball baggin, noone offered up anymore power....but thanks to nick, i got it anyway. but in reality..i think the rl-p stacks up well with the sx or xxx, except that i believe they will both handle a bit more power and in doing so, they have the ability to have a bit more output. i'd believe the rl-p would wipe the floor with any re offering below the sx. the rl-p is truly a great sub at a great price, offered by a company/guy with great customer service. it's that hard to beat when u add those things together. but hey, that's just my opinion....lol... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

hmmm...lol.... power rating means what? in all honesty, it's just a guide, nothing more, to the thermal handling of the VC. does one with a higher rating necessarly mean a better sub? if so, then visionik, pyrimid and legacy have some of the best subs on the market. teh xbl^2 vs the underhung is where it's at. and how the subs perform. they are indeed quite close. like i've said before, the rl-p was just as clean,just as responsive, kept up in the spl department and in teh sealed box, was able to get quite a bit lower. what is the determining factor is this, ur application. more then 1200wrms and all the roomin the world, money not a problem get the xxx. up to 1200wrms and very little room. and u've got a realistic budget..get the rl-p, u won't be sacrificing anything (maybe a db or so) wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
