need to break in 4 spiders
0.5ohm dsr paralleled 2.0ohm dsr series if you series the coils, and the sub is as strong as you say, in box the sub should love the wall! remember, it's not a low note it's playing and if you are watching it, it'll do alot towards breaking the sub in compared to what you are doing now. i wouldn't do it paralleled, lol. i think it would pop the breaker anyway. but damn, what a show that would be!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
the 250k sounds about right, lol. and he would only run it on specific tracks anyway. if it wasn't flat, it didn't get ran. words straight out of his mouth. i can remember the first time i talked to him. i lived about 3 doors down from where that truck was built. i went to the yard to inquire about a radiator for my truck, and while talking to rodney, they fired that damn thing up. OMG!! i wet my pants, and it wasn't piss, lol. i was a good 50 yards away and the ground just rumbled. of course i had to see what made that noise. and i met todd. kind of a nerdy looking guy, but jesus, he builds some badass rides!! tiny mite (the brown s10) has terrorized the town for years, lol. was a dually for a while, then went tubbed. but as far as if he even runs it, you got me. i haven't been to rodney's garage in years. i know that their scrapping business is still doing well as rodney has done nothing but expand and add new shit all teh time. i can only imagine what todd has been doing. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
awesome, congrats Steve and you got 31 with the 5.7? DoD? Thanks! The MDS was kicked in the entire trip ... with the exception of a couple downshift passes and a little too much pedal pressure that sent the car sideways for a few feet better than I'd guess, but I guess that MDS thing really does help been test driving a few new chevy trucks with MDS, funny to watch a truck get 99mpg, lol. and while i don't know about dodge's, i know that the chevy's is pretty seemless when the MDS kicks on/off. i've read all those stories about how one can feel it, but IMHO, it's jsut wasn't there. didn't feel any different then anyother computer controlled engine/tranny. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Good box for an RLP-12?
that box size/tuning has gotten great reviews for the rl-p. it really seems to shine in that box. i am one of those who like the higher tuning though, lol. but i think 2ft^3 is where the sub is most comfortable. tuning is per listener's ear, taste in music and overall system goals. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Amp for Soundsplinter rli-8 4Ohn (single coil)

Good box for an RLP-12?
when you go smaller box and drop tuning, you need to make up for it with port area. smaller boxes aren't low tuning friendly, per say, compared to their large box counterparts. that said, personally, i liked the rl-p in 2ft@34hz, and it did just fine in 2.5@32hz. ok, enough rambling, lol. it's never a waste of time to build another enclosure if the current one doesn't sound right to you. build the new box and let us know how it goes! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Welcome to the IHoP
the mains from a line boat, or tug as you put it, are the same as a trains main. some as little as 8 cylinders and 500hp, others as large as 16 cylinder and 4khp. and yep, him and rodney scrap out alot of them. jonesboro giving away land?? lol. well, then again, with our county goverment, enough money will get ya jsut about anything. so did the chicken motor come out of teh funny truck? i heard he had gotten rid of it, sunk a crap ton of money into building it. the brown truck never did over 750hp as i recall. like 750 isn't enough, lol. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Amp for Soundsplinter rli-8 4Ohn (single coil)
well, alot of people will run a higher power amp, then gain down so that the amp/sub will never see clipping. and with such a minimal increase in power, one wouldn't have that option. with similiar power ratings, one would have to look at input signal to make sure the amp isn't reproducing an already clipped signal. and with you mentioning the peripheral unit, i would wager that at higher volumes that is what is happening. you are better off turning the loc "gains" down some and making up for it with the amp gains. the best bet is to use a 360 or cleansweep and up the voltage cleanly, if one is wanting to keep the stock h/u. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

**raises hand** only if we can do cars too i'm game. where we gonna be located?? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee If I was getting out I'd say Long island...............lots of people there with too much $$$ and nowhere good to waste it. J I was thinking around Anna, IL. thats where my boss's son is (Todd Suhling), and close to Kent, lord knows Todd has tools if we don't have something, plus he has a hell of a lot of cool toys. close?? lmao, same damn town. Todd Suhling is his name? he actually lives in jonesboro. which is attached to anna, but nonetheless, about 3 miles or so from where i live. did he happen to build a funny truck? a s-10 bodied funny car? <<< over 2500hp iirc and have another little brown s-10 he called mighty mite? <<<< 750hp and street legal that name surely sounds right. i'm out for a few wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yep, he also has a 700hp 67 firebird that is his play toy. Yea, he built Tiny Mite and Mighty Mite. I think that shit colored S-10 is the same one he started racing in highschool, his dad has some stories. i've not seen the chicken, but have seen the two trucks. i've talked to Todd a time or two. he's supposed to have a shop of all shops. pretty much build anything you want. he is, or was, a partner to a fellower named rodney wright, adn they did a bunch of scrapping for money. well, that and auto repair. small fucking world. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Better amp for rli-8 s4
did they change the ratings? i was going to mention the sundown in the original thread, but specs on the website said 400x1@4. eventually i want sundown power on the icon and on whatever mids/tweets i can grab from the forum. just gotta sell my other shit first, lol. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Amp for Soundsplinter rli-8 4Ohn (single coil)
that's a minimal increase in power, but still well within what the rl-i can handle. not sure if it's going to be any cleaner. how is the current amp set? gain, boost, xover? wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
need to break in 4 spiders
what will final impedence be? what is the subs rms rating? 2-3 seconds tops at a time, unless it's just a beastly sub. my old id spls went for about 30 seconds free air before blowing (which is what we were after). but doing it in box will help. and take vids!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

need to break in 4 spiders
depending upon your subs vc configuration, the 120 wall outlet is roughly 3500wrms@ 60hz and 4 ohm (iirc, might be 65) in any case, it would work. drop sub in box, wire as you for your amp(s), plug it in and go. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

TC going belly-up
That right there just goes to show the kind of companies that have forums here at SSA. Kudos to you for being willing to stand behind your product no matter what the reason. J if you had ever dealt with mike, you wouldn't expect anything less. that's all mike as ever been, all about the customer. it's amazing to think my rl-p is 4 years old, lol. i've never owned a sub that long! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

3 subs
the three amp idea would be the best, especially strapped. or one larger 5kwrs amp. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

will running a universal sub with a non-universal...
Fi offers two options with their subs: 1. Universal: the tolerances in the gap are designed so that the sub can be reconed with either the D1 or D2 coils. 2. Non-Universal: the tolerances in the gap are designed specifically for a D1 or a D2 coil. To the OP, there will be very, very small differences between the two. Not something to really worry about, in my opinion. lol, thanks. i was wondering i f i had drank too much today..or been reading at da shithole too much. one or the other. i am a Fi no0b wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
