install in truck
just finished putting a memphis pr10 in a 1ft^3 box, tuned to about 37-38 hz ( i lenghtened the port 3/4" ofer the recommended, which would have been 40hz), being pushed by a memphis pr140...yep, a whooping 70 wrms!! anyway...ummmm..WOW! while not a spl monster, it is loud! i am definitely going to have to find a 200-250 wrms amp and see what happens! some pics soon...i didn't take pics of the build, but i will take some of the semi finished box ( i will carpet it gray in a week or so).. it's also very musical.i am indeed impressed. maybe it was thinking how loud it wouldn't be,it is just 70 wrms and check my sig to see what i'm used too, that i set myself up for failure...but it has impressed me in a very short amount of time i have gotten to listen to it. ( about 2 hours..lol) gain halfway, h/u sub setting on 9 outa 15 and the bass boost switch on ( will play with it more tomorrow)... like i said, nothing that will win a competition, but it's loud for what it is! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

REVIEW SoundSplinter Rl-p12d2
i can't say enuff about my premium 12. i all but lay in the trunk and listen to it. it's so clean and crisp..i honestly can't get enuff of it. i will put money that with 1600 wrms, mike will suggest a pair of 12's, more then likely sealed. he likes to recommend on the cautious side. though he might suggest the 15 in a small, like 2-2.5ft^3, for the 15. all i can say is this....a pair of the 12's, with 1600wrms, in 1.25ft^3 sealed each...wow, that would be awesome! of course, 1 15 in 2.5ft^3 with 1600..hehe...... but 2 15's....wooooowhooooooooo...that would be the bomb..literally! don't forget to let him know i sent ya...i mean that ur from a car audio forum..that way u'll get the discounted pricing(the price still posted on the website...it's suppose to go up soon)!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

those with sound ordinance problems
hey, a friend of mine almost got popped for a sound ordinance violation, lucky for him, he's in school to be a lawyer.. here's some advice he gave that helped him get out of the ticket.. 1) check your local laws, know exactly what they say 2) if pulled over, don't argue. make known the fact that you are going to contest the violation, politely 3) ask how loud you were. " i could hear you 50 feet away" is almost certainly a "dismissal" it's on the state/county/city/township to prove how far away they were...and they have to be able to prove it. 4) if they do conduct a sound metering test, make sure the meter has been calibrated within a year(<--generally, a good rule of thumb). have them prove it. 5) being heard fifty feet away isn't against the law, as talking can be heard from fifty feet. there as to be a minimum db that constitutes the sound violation. did you break that minimum? don't use test tones or burned cd's above 128kps. 6) did you break the minimum? don't get worried yet. now you have them on discrimination, on the grounds of youth (most people who get pulled over for this are under the cop's age, and are probably a minor) and/or ,in my friends terminology, prejudice. why prejudice? have them test a harley (or any bike with no baffles), a car with flowmasters(or loud pipes period), a neighbor's lawnmower(make it an old crusty one, lol). see how loud they are at 50 feet. chances are at least one of them will be as loud, if not louder then you(especially if you are in a trunk car). 7) now do some research.....how many harley's (or any other type of motor vehicle)have been pulled over for the same violation? it's a matter of public record, so getting the files will be simple. might cost you a litte money, but to prove a point and /or save your audio equipment, it's should be worth it. chances are slim that you'll find any. now see how many violations have been issued for car stereo's. there will probably be more of these. now you see the discrimination based on prejudice? (has almost nothing to do with a person's color, though in an extreme case, that could be used as well) the police were prejudiced against your stereo..especially since most cops own a harley, hot rod or have a friend that does. do you believe they will give themselves, friend or family member the same ticket for their ride? 8) now you have a solid case, if still convicted, you have a civil suit. if you wish to persue it. chances are, if they haven't pulled over people for loud exhaust, tire noise (yep...listen to a set of boggers going down the road) or firing up their lawnmower at 6 am...you'll be let off, more then likely with a warning. now this isn't a "get off scott free" ticket. you still need to boom responsibly. my friend was pulled over going home from school at 11am (lunch..hehe). he was sitting a intersection from the school to a local highway. no homes, one gas station and easily 1/2 mile (2640 feet) to the actually school facility. he was about 600 feet from the school's new gym/pool house. the cop was leaving the gas station and pulled up behind him. so he was only about 25 feet from him. so please don't go around at 10 pm thru your kodasack with the system blaring. if you do that, you deserve the ticket. btw, the friend's car and system? 2004 accord...rActive cat back exhaust, 17" wheels, lowered 3 or 4 inches, small wing on back, big stereoone decal in rear window...8w7 in 2.5ft^3 vented(the box looks that big..hehe, not real for sure), jl 1000/1..loud as hell for what it is. anyway, i hope this helps.... again, do some research..be responsible and must of all, comsider the financial end of this arguement. it could get costly to fight this fight..weigh your options before you proceed. he was able to do it for free due to his course of study, criminal law. of course alot of you are in college..use the library to it's fullest potential. any other tips or comments..please post. we've got to stand together to keep the right to boom! i will post this on the other forums i frequent.. let's get it together! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I finally got a car
like the shape of that dash, i just really looked at a dsh for a n rx8 the other day.. kinda reminds me of what ford did in the taurus.... give peripheral some time...they'll have a harness made that will all the retention of the factory crap playin thru the audio...it's almost gm like, with the onstar, factory info system and door dinger ll playing thru the speakers and run thru the radio...i paid $80(retails for $100) for a harness to plug my alpine in..i imagine ur's will be up there too.... the reason why? i was told by a chevy service manager friend of mine that it's due to the fact they are trying to make the wiring simple....ie: less plugs and connections. so everything has to do more then one job......don't ya love how they are trying to make technology "simple"? anyway..good luck with ur dash george...it's all downhill from there! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
