Deciding on a Box and Position
i ordered a 15" Q with BP and a Red Dustcap. and its dual 2 And my setup would look identical to that bmw with the 15" Q firing thru the armrest in the backseats. im going to seal off the trunk so that if u open the trunk it wuld just look like a normal trunk just smaller and then if u go inside the car and fold the seats down it'll be a big wall with a sub in the middle and idk where im guna put the amp.

Deciding on a Box and Position
i dont have room right now for a ported box.. i need my trunk so scratch any ideas with that... and im not giving up my back row for my subs... then id only have 2 seats???? and that first video is the same thing i was diong, he just has his seats folded down. mine would be down whenever im not driving ppl around but up when ppl are in the backseat but put the armrest down to have an opening into the cabin area.

Deciding on a Box and Position
i was also thinking (depending one cost) to make it so when u open the trunk there is a wall of fiberglass so u can see the magnet part of the sub... maybe not the whole wall but atleast part.. i think that be cool.. then maybe neons later down the road

Deciding on a Box and Position
Yesterday i received the amp wiring kit and the 10ft of power cable for the "Big 3". Today i received the 25 ft of speaker wire and the headunit. The sub and amp should be coming in shortly and then ill be installing it... so now i gotta decide quickly on my box ideas. I have decided to get a sealed box... i guess about 2.6 cu.ft. there is only one thing left to decide --- which way the sub faces and where to put the amp... in terms of sub direction/placement, i was thinking of doing something like like having the box in the trunk and when i open that armrest thing the sub will be facing towards the cabin....i was thinkn like when u opened the trunk itd be like sealed off... like a wall... so basically the trunk is just not as deep and there is a big wall which is the back of the box and then if u go inside the car and lay the seats down there is a big wall with the sub in the middle... does this make sense to u guys??? how would this sound? thanx in advance. w/o you guys i would not have made it this far!

how much room would i have left if i put a box about 3.5 cu ft or so in my trunk (1999 volvo s70). I may port this sucker if i do i am aiming for about 3.5 cu.ft. and tune it 30-32hz?? idk any suggestions.

yeah i just saw some cars similar to mine with a 15" Q ported and theyre car is gettin torn up so i think im going to seal it this time and go from there.... so how should i have the box made so that i get more sound into the cabin with less trunk rattlin'?
-
My System
i think im going to either seal it at 2.6 cu ft but idk how im going to do the box... or im going to port it at 3.5 cu. ft. and port it through the middle armrest whole in the backseats with the sub facing either up or to the trunk and tune it 30-32hz OR port it to the side with sub facing up but wouldnt that rattle the trunk alot? so out of those 3 options what do u think would be the best idea... for someone that likes it loud and listen to mainly all rap/hiphop. but i dont want it so loud i cant stand it driving. i also dont want to tear apart my car yet, thats why i wanted to seal it now and maybe this summer or next christmas get a new custom ported box....

From: My System
im afraid i dont have that kinda trunk space to sacrifice right now... at the MOST probably 4 but i think im going to seal it first and then port it later down the road.... now i gotta figure out how to make the box and how i have it set up to be the loudest...?
-
My System
i just read some more stuff on 15" Fi Q's and i think ill seal it this time and maybe this summer or something port it if im not happy... so for a sealed box.. how should i set it up to get it as loud as i can will also keeping SQ.. apparently my original plan would keep alot of sound out of the cabin and make the trunk rattle so i dont want that.

ok one question... what did u mean when u said.."I'd say sealed facing ported ONLY if you will have the seats up." that didnt make any sense to me (sealed facing ported???) but i think ported would be better for my kind of music.. and i have a 1999 Volvo S70 but idk the alternator size...
-
My System
how would these options work... 1) sealed with sub facing backseats 2) ported with sub facing trunk and port going thru the backseats 3) ported with both sub and port facing the trunk
-
My System
so what if i had the sub face the trunk but ported it thru the backseats? would there be less trunk rattle and more sound in the cabin i want the least amount of rattle and i want a loud system but to still retain good SQ.
-
My System
two questions.. 1) how does it seal all the bass into the trunk any differently than a normal sealed box 2) when u say fire into the cabin i assume u mean like have a port that aims thru the middle armrest thing in the backseats?

I caught it an NONE else did........ really? If it is a 2ohm DVC, that is dual 2 ohm coils. wired in parallel (sp) it brings it down to 1ohm. But then he had it right? O_o woah man you scared me haha.

fishers will do a custom box for about $150 sealed for the size i need... but it wont fit flush to how my trunk looks... it will just be a box right?

I'm having second thoughts about the box... im thinking maybe i should port it... here are my reasons for both: SEALED: - accuracy/ tight bss - might already be loud enough - save trunk space - not tear apart my trunk as much lol PORTED: - even louder - i listen to mainly hiphop/rap - im gettin a custom box already so might as well port it Im stuck.. a sealed would be 2-2.6 cu. ft. and i was going with a 2.6 and a ported would be 2.8-4 but idk if i could fit a 4 cubic foot box in my trunk and still have enough room for my stuff. btw, its a 99' volvo s70. Any thoughts? suggestions? ideas? advice????
