no no EVERYTHING is a dirk Original Dirk designed ALL of the boards. He just sent the designs overseas for the merlin and is just wanted to clear that up

erm i belive the I/S line is imported from china, but designed by dirk. your are correct about the AX line. pretty crazy, the toroids are hand wrapped here. edit: the merlin line is now completely bein made here in the USA to tell you the truth, i dont think it matters who builds the amplifiers, its the design and the quality of the parts that matters IMO. I hope that clears things up a little bit

Well i jut got off the phone with Dirk Ecker (the engineer) and he gave me some info on the new amps that are going to be unveiled in January 06 at the Consumer Electronics show in vegas. Oh speaking of CES, the USamps booth is going to be at: Las Vegas Convention Center North Hall 2419 so whoevers in vegas stop by and meet Mr. Kim! Basically they are coming out with 14 new versions of amps of the AX line. This is what he told me: 3 new Stereo amps: AX 600, 1000, and 2000 these amps are going to be more advanced, more up to date, of the current models and are going to have a "special feature" in which i am not at liberty to say, but trust me its gonna be awesome 2 Newer versions of the 4/5 channel amps: AX 4300 and 5600 4 Models of the tube amps: AX TU-300, 600, 1000 (that sounds like a monster), 4360. All are going to be improved and updated with Crossovers this time Sub Amps: All of the AX DE's are going to have new circuitboards, more advanced, up to date, and they are going to be Bi-polar (someone help me with that term :) and that "special feature" might be present within the DE amps also. Thats all for now

The MD1 and MD2 look identical inside, as do the 41 and 42 (the difference is in amounts of FETS fitted and turns on the toroid. The AX DE3000's look very nice - a design starting to mature. I had the first 2 "mk2" DE3000's off the line back in 2004 and they were great amps other than they didnt quite do the power.....the 4 torroid ones were good but blew up. I have faith that dirks creating something good here :D Dirks always creating something good go for the TU600 if you're planning on powering a set of components ... Wow! Those boards look clean. I heard the New AX amps will be the most powerful out every. Plus, I was told you could link as many units together {10/20/100 or as many as you need} to a single speaker. {patent pending} Other companies can only link two, as master and slave. That is bad ass technology. They are the same PCB. Its just different amount of output fets. To save you hassle. Compare to MD1D As you can see - same board different sink all fets filled (1D has 2 outputs and 4 psu missing.) got some new merlin 2 pix: top: MD 22 Bottom: MD41 MD22 vs a Viper 1200.1 that does twice the power of the merlin. well those old usamps the USA/VL series are soon gonna start to become collectors items now that the new lines are out. I cant find any stats on that amp tho. maybe someone with more knowledge on the history can help me out lol
