Pulled the cover off of the IROC today. Started it and backed it out of the garage and pulled it back in. I really just wanted to hear it. And so it begins.

It's not ... but if he goes with the 30" he'll have to replace the TV stand. Just = more $ spent.

I'd just go with the 27". Spend the extra on the more important things you mentioned ... school, new vehicle, etc.
