Exactly - however, there are no jobs around here because 'on-strike' = no money = businesses cut back/lay off/close = no jobs = 3 homes for sale on my street already = pissed off employees who aren't going to give a chit when we go back to work.

Right now it's a terrible thing ... the union is screwing us over big time because they didn't bargain hard enoug right from the start. I just got paid yesterday ... mandatory 3 weeks picketing before you start getting paid, now I get $60 checks once a week from here on out - that is just plain insulting. When there is a contract and you're working unions are a good thing. They'll cover your ass if you don't like what is going on at work and you speak up ... plus, your boss can't just walk up to you and fire you - if you're non-union/staff, you could hit the road at any time. I don't care if I'm in a union ... they only reason our section is in the union is because of the benefits. Although I'd probably make more in this town if I wasn't in the union.

The car is great in the winter handling wise ... 155/80R13 tires + FWD so it's fine in the snow. I don't know about the mileage - every other vehicle I've owned does the same thing, but not quite as bad.

Should do a chart for the truck - good 'ole 12-14mpg Terrible in the city, good on the highways.

Nope Company only wants to talk under certain conditions ... one of them is that they don't want a mediator present - they won't solve anything that way, which is how they want it. They don't give a chit about the employees - they're selling power and still making money so we won't be going back for a while. Oh well, I've been on the phone with people from Calgary and Lethbridge ... exploring the possibilities for next year.

Wish I could get better mileage out of the Mazda in the winter. Looking over my book here ... from January to now I've only had to fill it up once a month - mileage in the winter was only around 250 km/tank ... weather warms up start to touch 300/tank ... May/June/July/August/September 280 miles / tank. I love the Mazda in the warmer weather because everything works. When it gets super cold here with tons of snow a lot of the electrical things decide not to work. A signal light here and there, door chime, heh. It's not a matter of wanting better mileage in the winter, due to the strike it's a matter of needing better mileage.
