  1. http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi...5%CArt_id%25%25 Maybe something will pop up on there sometime. Some nice stuff on there right now.
  2. Sentimental ... that's the one - thanks!
  3. "Not only is this award of monetary value, but of _________ as well." How would you finish that off if you received a memorial award? I really can't think of the right word.
  4. Kick 'em in the teeth.
  5. umm bothell, WA. he took me all around WA for fun though, even went over to vancouver to his friend's house. bought me a louis vuitton wallet too so i'd say it was a damned good summer job. reason i dont want to do it again is cuz i feel bad doing it. it just seems like he's paying me extra cuz i'm family and i dont wanna do that to him. Tell him to pay you $8 or $9 / hour, then If you enjoy doing it, I'd go for it. Better than being stuck working at McDonalds or cleaning bear chit out of a cage for the summer.
  6. And, Jim (or anyone else) ... do you know anything about the amp? I can't find the manual (go figure, after ~ 30 years) and searching Google I've still come up empty handed. Maybe I'll open it up after and take a look.
  7. Good review, Kent. Thanks for taking note of the upper freq. stuff.
  8. Where in WA? Go back up there and do that again. Should be an easy $2000 summer, no?
  9. All depends on who you know and what you like to do. Here's my little story from the summer of grade 11 and 12 ... way back in the day. My friend knew a real-estate agent who has a very wealthy client. This wealthy client owns a bunch of large buildings locally, as well as an apartment complex. The guy needed some work done, so the real-estate agent called my friend. Was too much work for him to handle, so he called me. We went up to this guys house and did the work (mostly bitch work, but some drywalling, flooring, etc). Anyway, the next day I got a call from this guy. He asked me if I was willing to work for him during the summer, and it would be just me, as I was a much better worker than my friend. My friend was the one female doging and complaining ... whereas I was the one working my ass off trying to make an impression. So, I painted his apartment complex and painted another 6000 sq. ft. building project he had going. Wrapped insulation around pipes in a basement, pressure washed the outside of a couple buildings, cleaned a couple apartments, used the carpet cleaner and cleaned quite a few places, put tar down on a roof, drywalled and learned how to put up walls, and learned the art of throwing scrap 2x4's from 135ft up into a dumpster below. Some of it was just bullchit work, but I didn't care ... I was making money. And at $9 an hour (remember, was a while ago), I sure as hell didn't complain. [/ counsellor Steve] Or, you could go work at McDonalds. Or cut lawns. Or work at a golf course (there's good money right there). Etc.
  10. The only good I see in that is being able to spend the late afternoon and night with your family ... as opposed to 6-6 and later where half your night is shot when your kids are still young / younger.
  11. Ideally, as of right now, I'd like to keep it under $200. If it makes a HUGE difference, you can bump it up to around $280. $20 x (4) 7" = $80 $15 x (4) 5.25" = $60 $30 x (2) 1" = $60 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=295-335 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=295-330 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=264-527 ^ = $180 + $42.51 shipping Then I'd need to buy all of the components for the crossovers.
  12. hey

Welcome to SSA! Looks like quite a nice system you have listed there. Any specific amps you're looking for (+ price range) ?
  13. Holy christ those are bright I like your shifter knob
  14. I think they would be nice in my office. Just need to get the drivers, get the parts for the crossovers + build them, and get an amp ... as the 'ole Akai likely wouldn't cut it Thank you. I'll get on filling the holes x2. Stuffing it with XBL^2 enabled mids (a la Creative Sound drivers) and ribbon tweets would be creamalicious, although it would blow any semblance of a budget away The Dayton Aluminums are a much more practical idea...although Dayton ribbon transducers would still be teh sweetness The XBL^2 stuff + ribbon tweets would be awesome, but it's just not in the budget at this time unfortunately. I could wait a while and gain a larger budget for different drivers ... but then I run into crossover design, which I don't do ... just solder the components I'm told to use off of a schematic It sucks having to buy so many ... whereas if I had just built a basic two-way with two drivers ... But, I wanted something larger with a good amount of output, so here we are. Thanks
  15. So much to do this weekend. Don't know how I'm going to fit it all in.
  16. Looks great! And that has to be pretty darn loud *Awaits for a corny "Hey, they're TC's in a TC" joke from Kent*
  17. They'll likely sit down here in the basement for quite a while. They would match my office at work really well, so they just might wind up there. I might go with the (aluminum?) Daytons from PE ... unless someone else has any other suggestions in a similar price range. The Daytons are really cheap, and I've heard that they perform decent for their price ... so I'd need similar if not better performance and a very similar price - unless clearly justified by a eleventy billion x wow factor with a better driver. Buying 4 x 7", 4 x 4.5", and 2 tweets is sucky - my fault, though.
  18. They're up now.
  19. Update: Added the solid black walnut trim pieces. They're ripped from 4/4 solid boards, no bullchit fake crap for me. 45's on the corners for aesthetics. 3 coats sanding sealer, 5 coats lacquer ... polished with furniture polish and extra fine steel wool. Topped off with two coats of furniture wax. Well protected, fairly glossy. Jim might know this one:
  20. x3. Uncle should = free chit or great pricing, either way.
