Thank you. Update. I got a used rotor and I am taking it to get turned this afternoon. I put the driver's side back togather and it works beautifully. I hate packing bareings though. My hands still have greese on them. Even after washing with that orange soap with sand in it. I tried washing my hands with 10m Sodium Hydroxide (lye) but it would start burnning too much before I could reall get in and scrub. But it worked while I could stand it.
  2. How would you keep the engine running though? you need some sort of inertia to compress the gasses and you still have to turn the cam shaft and have spark, unless you wanted to use an F1 style injection/valve train/and ignition...which would be rather expensive. *EDIT* After rereading I get what you are saying. Similar to what Ramos suggested. Superb idea IMO. A Briggs and Statton 1cyl 12hp motor with the head remove would do the trick. Attach it's output shaft to the output shaft of the transmission. Would take some serious planning and fabrication so that it doesnt vibrate the link apart, but that is an excelent idea.
  3. Adrian, The answear to your question is no. 1.) frequcinies below 20Hz in dB Drag are not allowed and Mechanical noise inducers are illegal as well. the "enclosure" also is illegal, even in the extreme class I do beleive. Kent, your idea for a spider is much needed I do beleive, If the cone goes up like \ then you arent reaching maximum displacement potential. A good spider would do wonders. I really think a thing, wide tire would do the trick for the surround. Be a primative high roll surround and surely will have greater structural integrity than some innertubes. Would be an expensive surround, however. They main design flaw in the surround they used is it was pulled tight, granted thhey had to have it do that because it had no spider, but that is ultamitely what caused it to tare when the beast started becoming extremely non linear.
  4. LMAO NP: Whirl of several computer's fans and harddrives....featuring the blow of the AC. Nifty site Kickin'
  5. NP: If I Was President - Wycleif
  6. And if you reproduce that and beat the mythbusters you would pwn. You now know how NOT to make the surround and linkage and where the car is going to fail first. Multiple layres of MDF with a tire as the surround sandwiched in the middle perhaps?
  7. I will tell you from experence the faster you go on a washboard road the better. I do 50 down the road that often washboards by my GF's uncle's house. Then agian I have the suspension to do that semi-safely.
  8. NP: What It's Like - Everlast I dont know why... My GF put it on my computer. Not a bad song at all.

  11. Nothing complicated. Simply post NP:Example - Example Band And a short comment about th song or band if you wish. Just seeing what people listen to while surfing the net.
  12. I urge you not to buy something just to buy something. I have had thoes urges and followed through...If I hadnt I would be hundreds of dollars ahead right now. I've learned my lesson.
  13. What made it not a woofer? Not a traditional woofer, but it was a woofer non-the-less. It's design was simply to move air which is exactly what a woofer does, albeit by electromechanical means and over a desired frequency range. The only means they had available to change frequency was the Engine RPMs. Also, linearity would have no effect on pressure levels, just distortion figures. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, its a woofer, I was kidding around. They make mechanical noise makers similar to that capeable of extreme decible levels. A little less barbaric though.
  14. sheet metal is stronger than aluminum. my guess is that the alu cone would break first. titanium, cf, fg cone ? anyway, the mythbusters have limited time to build, but the result is admirable. local cable company might be broadcasting with some delay compared to the us. i hope i won't miss the episode. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The cone didnt fail, the surround and pushrod linkage did. If treated pulp cones can handle thoes kind of levels I'm sure 1/8" aluminum could.
  15. why do thoes motors look so familure to me?
  16. I may be back in. Used rotor for $25 FTW. I just need to inspect it.
  17. Yes, that "woofer" could use some serious refinement. Not really a woofer though, Mechanical noise pressure inducer? If they had better set it up for the forces involved and it held togather for serious test trials, using higher frequincies and vehicle resoncance I beleive that "design" is more than capeable of 180+dB. If they used some sort of spider to get more linear movement, a better surround and pushrod design and a lighter cone (Aluminum?) I beleive it would be possible to shear sheet metal assumeing all of the windows held in untill then.
  18. Correct for people up north...down hur we say "des-ible" or jusr "D-B" lmao
  19. Either way that is a good read. Delete everything else and I will take it to PM if the need be.
  20. And I am extremely displeased at my topic being locked over something people wont even listen to me on and think I am a complete moron. Listen, Google, and then reply. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Warpe...G=Google+Search http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml you can hit "I'm Feeling Luckey" and get that. Warping and Uneven ware are two entirely different things. If I sand half of a 2x4 does that make it warped? no.

As I said. Google it. There are several technical articles written by engineers far more experenced than anyone on this forum. The brake surface becomes un-even, yes, however the entire rotor does not warp.

Gonna get a used one if I can.

untill you reach a brakeing point where the pads start to emit gasses...then drilled rotors are better. Slotted...ehh not so much. Tomarrow I'm going to call the junk yards...
