  1. woot woot..got the rl-p 12 in today. ..and WOW , that puppy carries some weight! SO..gonna work on teh box more tonite, and my last box question is: Is there a certain amount of distance, or 'minimum amount' there should be between the bottom of the magnet, and a wall of the box?
  2. There is a st500d memphis on ebay, ends tomorrow, current $ is about $150. I dont find any spec sheets online for it though. The auction says it is 500x1 @ 2, but, sometimes you get bad info in the descriptions. Is it truely a 500x1 @ 2?
  3. cool, thanks..back to watching auctions.. oh the joy..
  4. ..oh, and are eclipse amps decent, or stick with memphis..?
  5. ok, one more opinion poll here..looking at the memphis mch1300 (i know, way out of my original price range)..but, this amp is LONG,which means I would have to offset my sub to one side, making things "un-symmetrical" (sp) in the back end. SO: 1. screw the looks, get the one amp to run everything.. 2. looks matter, make both sides even looking..get 2 amps.. 3. that rl-p will make my passenger rear sit lower than the driver side...dont do it. I'm still watching a few aucitons on the 1000d too..what I dont know is what is a good $ for a good used one? I dont even know what they retailed for, since there is not a memphis dealer within 100 miles of me..
  6. true.. thanks!
  7. hmm. I looked, was it in the classifieds, or the main site..musta missed it..
  8. Cool, thanks. I was looking at that MTX, read some good reviews on that. back in the day, I used to run the orion stuff, but I think with my size limitations, those might be too big. Hopefully have a decsion by this weekend. On another note, I took some time off work today, and went to 4 diff. stereo shops around here. What a dissapointment....I guess I'll be internet ordering.
  9. We have 40" and 80" width 'trunk liner'. The 80" is un-backed, the 40" has a latex backing. 40" retails for $11.49, and the 80" is $19.99 yd. We do have qty. & shop prices too though.
  10. true that. Appreciate all the fast help from you guys! MattB
  11. yeah, I really dig that style. Not too sure about the indo audio dude though. I remember reading something a while back on the12v bbs, or sound domain site..
  12. I like the looks of that one, personally. The trick now is finding a memphis dealer around me. I'm gonna research some more online, and then hit every stereo shop in town this weekend. MattB
  13. ..dang...instant replys...this is better than AIM! MattB
  14. So far, so cool. I have looked at the eDesigns stuff, but the nine.1 is on back order. I have considered memphis and hifonics too, but I was worried about getting a 600 or 700 rms (or even 900 on the eDesigns) on a 500w rms sub...but, didn't want to underpower it either. ..another note, an installer at a local shop told me a few months back about 'breaking in' a new sub. (he was referring to some Diamond's. Is there such a thing? First Ihad ever heard that. MattB
  15. Ok, I have 1 RL-p 12" d4 en route to me right now. I have a 1.4cf sealed enclosure awaiting its arrival. My task now is to select an amp for the beast. I see the rms watts listed for the sub @ 500. Should I be looking for an amp that produces less that that (300-400 rms), or is the 500-600 range rms gonna be ok? I have certain size restrictions, as the amp cant be much over 14" wide. I am open to really any model, I guess I dont have a preference. This is my first dive into 'real' equipment, as in the past, I have only used, what I would call entry level stuff. I have considered phoenix gold, mtx, planet audio, hifonics..but, I dont know what by todays standards, is not 'entry level' equipment. I mean, I dont want this badda$$ sub, with some cheapo amp, and people wondering why I am using that amp. Any thoughts would be appreciated. My price range on the sub amp would be not more than, say $350ish. MattB e-Autotrim.com
  16. Thanks for the compliments. Wait unitl you see the full laid out pics..it looks tight. MattB e-Autotrim.com
  17. Guy from Phoenix Gold said that the dig. cable would control the signal and volume, but, depending on if my head unit converts my am/fm to digital or not, would determine if I needed rca's for that. He also said that people are using this amp just for its 5.1 feature. He said most customers use a separate 4ch. amp for powering loudspeakers. The amp is rated at 18w x5 @ 12v., and 50x5 @ 13.8v. (rms), and peaks at 100 x5. Is 50w too little for the speakers? I am planning on a 400x1 sub amp. MattB
  18. The amp has the digital input AND rca input. It is a Phoenix Gold Octane-R 5.1MT. http://www.phoenixgold.com/2004/octane-ramps.html I sent Phoenix Gld an email, but no reply so far.. MattB
  19. ANyone done this? How much of a pita is it? Seems like that schutz gun would get it everywhere. MattB
  20. Appreciate the thoughts. I ordered the speaker yesterday, so may be able to finsih this weekend. Looks like I'm gonna be close on the mounting depth, might have to jack the top up just a little, we'll see. ...and no, clear tails just aren't my thing. Since I'm not doing a jdm theme, they had to go anyways MattB
  21. I have a JVC KD-Dv500 head unit. It plays everything, including dvd's. It is dolby 5.1 ready, w/ the digital toslink output. I am looking at a PhoenixGold 5.1 amp for everything except my sub, that has the toslink input. SO, my question is, it I hook up the head unit to the amp with the digital cable, would I still need to use RCA's, or does the digital cable take the place of them? MattB
  22. ..and sorry for the big arse pics.. mattB
  23. Ok, well here are a couple.. rear speaker pods I molded in. dash area, 7" tft molded in by me stereo is jvc kd-dv5000 dvd /cd/am/fm..yadda yadda.. I like it, and I can close the door on the cubby hole to hide it. (well, now you all know where it is, so out with that.. Here is a pic of the scion after I got the rear bags installed. I actually changed shocks in the back, and it goes another 1.5" lower. Here is a pic of the box so far. The center plate, is just for reference for the angle of the sub. The 2 sides will be where the amps are mounted. Then center area will be 22'wide. You see the big notch I had to build for the tanks... MattB
  24. It is a scion xB. The reason my space is limited, is because I have 2ea. 3gal airtanks for the bags back there too. I am able to get a 1.5' box in there. Thanks for the response. MattB
