Fi owes me a new windshield.
Yes it was sir.

Fi owes me a new windshield.
box is 26.6 cubic feet with 420 sq inch port. tuned to 32 in the cabin/38 on paper. The real trick is getting the right airspace and the right distance of the rear wall from the windshield and subwoofers.

Thanks guys! it will do an easy 162 in this format I just never made it to that before the window let go. It was super hot out and I was doing all out demo's for like 6-7 hours before some of those runs so I went into the lane with warm gear to say the least and still did not cook a single item except the windshield.

Sad that the windshield imploded before I could get a full burp out of it and show what it can really do maybe next time. So far I have had a IASCA and now a USACi SQ judge say they have never heard music so loud and so clean. Makes me smile all this hard work and tweeking is coming around. Also you will notice I did closed up scores Next time I will do it the official USACi way. Look at the scope below, I was just getting it starting to ramp up when I noticed the window let go.

Thank you, you taught yourself something today.

N3's playing some music.
So what your saying is they drop off in response very fast above tuning? Thats GREAT! I cross it over under 50 for a reason, so it sounds better. There is NO more peakiness in this subwoofer crossed over at 50 hz than any other subwoofer of this power handling like the smd. Don't make me graph a response too show you that as well. I like smooth level bass from 20-50 and this gives me that. If I liked peaky responses I would have tuned to 55+ and crossed over at 80+hz.

N3's playing some music.
I had to show it could play ANY music, I hate country too but it made my point.

N3's playing some music.
- My new SQ subwoofers
Well after the fifth burp they are starting to come into their own. Here is a power vs spl graph, you can clearly see these N3's will keep loving more power. OK This is the Fifth burp on the new N3's. 161.1@44Hz. Amp current Draw 1179 Amps, Amp Start Voltage 17.6v dropped to 14.37v. [email protected] after rise. Vehicle still off for test. After I had a chance to do all this I sat down again after and listened to the music, adjusted crossovers etc.....I would give this another .5 on the lows. The more this thing breaks in the sweeter it sounds. I can virtually play ANY music from god forbid country to my taste of metal and bass music and it produces it flawlessly. I have my subwoofers crossed over at 50hz so if theres any issues with sound above that I have not tested it yet, but why if I will never use them crossed higher than 50-60. Anyway the break in continues to make them louder and sound even better. These go lower than the chaos, and dare I say mayhems as well soon.- My new SQ subwoofers
Well after the first day of breaking them in I can say for certain that this subwoofer is not PURE burp. It peaked lower than both the mayhem AND the chaos by 3 hz. 160.2@44hz with approx 11kw and gets louder after each session by a few tenths. It mixes not too bad with the front end, some work with the enclosures will tweek that right up. It does have a higher impedance rise than the chaos despite being louder right out of the gate. It kept up with Rock, Metal and easily hiphop. Once blended with front end this will be a killer sounding subwoofer. Once I am sure the subwoofers are settled I can begin the RTA response curve, and power, imp, and spl curves. But so far they are very similar to the mayhem right out of the box with the edge on lows going to mayhem and the edge of spl and transients going to the N3. Once its broken in this will be a decent subwoofer. I would have went without the aluminum sleeve around the coil as it rarely got hot and I prefer open air coils over forced air cooling. But its fine and I am still looking forward to playing some more. Marks of the AA/Fi subs I have personally tested so far after day one of the 15" N3 Break in Mayhem -SPL=8.5/10 -Lows=9/10 -Transients=8.5/10 BTL N3After 3 hours break in time so far. -SPL=9/10 -Lows=7/10 Transients=9/10 Chaos 15 SPL=7/10 Lows=9/10 Transients=7/10 SMD 15 SPL=6.5/10 Lows=10/10 Transients=8/10- My new SQ subwoofers
wow, you do realize music is a combination of tones right? But anyway, I started the break in on them and so far they are just what I expected.- My new SQ subwoofers
- Hey Rob how are things going.

hey man, thanks for the xplanation, this really does help clear up a lot o fthings. I want to be SQPL!!, but that sounds like a lot of dinero So is it at this point, where equipment plays a huge/bigger role within the installation when chasing to become SQPL? Yes if you are going for that you generally don't see dozens of tweeters and mids because that only causes peaks and cancellations throughout the sound spectrum and its very difficult to control due to a very far spread in the distances that the tweeters are from one another and this also applies to mids as well but not as much as you drop in frequency. I had 8 pair of 6.5" in the doors and found problems with cancelling so I dropped it to only four closely packed pairs and I think this is limit to where the problems begin so I stuck with four pair now. I will have to get better speakers and more power to keep the same abilities but it will pay off in the end. Obviously one pair of tweeter, midrange, midbass per channel with subwoofer crossed 50hz or under would be the best with active crossovers but then you run into not being able to do the SQPL part that your after, so you go with a close arrangement multi speaker set up per side and then the time alignment is alot better to deal with for imaging than say a door full of speakers. I hope that helps understand it a bit better.- comment on fi btl n3
So you really think that you will have SQ with 4 subs made for burps???? Well I have not tested them and I will know soon enough if they can blend well with a decent front stage or can't. If I can't modify the enclosure build to make it happen or change front end I guess we know. I have not found a decently made subwoofer I could not make sound good, its all in the enclosure and application. If this is the first one that I can't make sound great with a front stage then it will be a first for me. I will also be testing out a MS-8 JBL processor later in the year to see if it improves on what I can already do. As for the 4 subs they really only see alot of power during open door demo's, and competition if I ever find a show that I don't have to officiate.- Hey Rob how are things going.
PM sent, sorry for the late reply I was doing a string of dB drag shows that kept me busy.- comment on fi btl n3
I hope this helps you, I know alot of people new to the industry could learn alot by understanding more. ""SQL"" - Is a bad term, and generally means lots of mids and highs with alot of bass. Normally lacks imaging, tonal balance and/or proper crossover points. Just a mess of sound all playing at once very loud with no regard to placement or imaging. SPL - Pretty self explanatory Sound Pressure Level, SPL systems generally have no high end and just burp. SQ - Sound Quality at moderate to low sound pressure can reproduce any music amazingly and do it with better warmth than the original recording sometimes. Generally systems like these are 145dB and under, once you start getting into the 145+dB your moving into the SQPL area. SQPL -Sound Quality at a High Pressure level. Has proper tonal balance, imaging, etc.... It could compete in competitive SQ competitions as well as SPL events. Not generally known to beginners who usually do just SPL or SQ. Theres very few of these systems left but they are making a comeback.- comment on fi btl n3
SQPL is not the same as ""SQL""- Hey Rob how are things going.
Just checking in with ya how everything is going. I am holding off ordering the wire until I know what you got planned for me.- Lost a coil on an N2 today
What location was the woofer in, Bottom passenger side? Post a pic or pm a pic of the box inside behind the woofer that went bad. Also when you put the reconed subwoofer back in, put it in the top drivers side location. - My new SQ subwoofers
