i was speaking to eric and he said that a dmm would be good enough, i might just pick up the xx zeus and save the hassle. i hear that the xx generation amps are slightly under rated.

the only reason i went for the hercules was because it costs as much as the xx zeus that does 1600x1 at 1ohm rated at 13.8v, but i guess ill decide on that.

Yeah, the HiFonics BX2005D does 2000x1 at 1ohm... but idk about hifonics, its like a hit or miss. Again my budget is $500
