Hey how thick is that plexi on there? Or is it lexan?
  2. Damn. I never thought about how easy that'd be to hide a blowthrough to return a truck to stock. I'd be a cock ass and do a blow through. Unless you need your bed. and crew cab beds are pretty short already.

What? You guys don't cushion your lows? I like to put my boxes on tempur pedic mattress pads. Makes those lows extra comfy.
  4. i got 139 in my moms Cadillac SRX. Felt like i was driving the thing at 80 minus the wind noise. And no she wasn't in the car or i would've lost my nuts and my keys.
  5. Well i just found out how simple it is to lift the rear seat of my truck which will give me chittons more airspace. HOORAY! Here is a potential box design i will use. http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/genera...r-seat-box.html With that down-firing design I would get approximately 1.55 ft^3 before sub displacement per sub chamber. or about 3 ft^3 for total airspace. If i reworked the design and made it up-firing, it would bring the total enclosure volume to about 3.6 ft^3. So with that amount of space to work with, I want more SQ than SPL but still like to bump from time to time. I used to have 2 RE se12s sealed.(Loved em). I listen to all kinds of music. Budget - hoping to keep it around $650 for sub/subs and amp. Could be talked into spending $850 but don't really want to. One problem with equipment recommendations - This new stuff is replacing my last stolen system. So i'm dealing with a replacement firm who can get me almost anything i want except not from companies who sell directly like say from their own website. Thanks for the help guys. Lovin this site.
  6. What do you guys think? 2 12" RE SRs sealed at .88 ft^3 each VS. 2 8" Re REs ported in .88 ft^3 @ 35 hz each. How would the output and SQ compare between those setups. I'm open to different sub suggestions. Just going with what I know and like right now.
  7. i definitely want more SQ than output. But every system I get I always yearn for some more BOOM!
  8. Alright scrappin the original plan. Just gonna do 2 RE SR 12s in sealed enclosures. I guess i'll push em a lil harder now. Options: Kicker ZX750.1 Alpine pdx1.600 What do yall think of JL Audio T1000.1 or Cadence ZRS-1502 or ZRS-7504 or Diamond Audio D3 800.1 Still lookin for something under $350 that will give me 600 - 800rms @ either 1 or 2 ohms
  9. I could probably squeeze 2 SR12"s sealed. How would the output of 2 12"s sealed compare to 1 12" ported?
  10. Well hell. I calculated a .88 ft^3 @35hz for a 10" driver w/ 18mm xmax and it gave me a minimum cross sectional area of 25.31" So then I entered a Square slot port with dimensions of 5" x 5" and it outputs a vent length of 55.87". chite! Any suggestions on that? or should I scrap this plan and pick 2 different woofers with less xmax or design a new larger box for one 10 or 12?
  11. Yeah I'm really leaning towards those the kicker or alpine. The kicker will save me loads of money but the Alpine will save room (and give me less power), but which do you think will run cooler?
  12. Yeah i'm lookin to buy new. But i'm not buying it myself. i'm buying with replacement company through my insurance cuz my last setup got stolen so they can get me equipment direct from a manufacturer. I just have to tell them what I want.
  13. Trying to decide on an amp for 2 RE audio SR10s. They're rated at about 350rms. Each will be going in a .88 ft^3 ported enclosure. Trying to stay under $350. Alpine pdx 1.600 Kicker zx750.1 Cadence DCA-1000 Haven't ordered subs yet so any wiring configuration is an options. And i'm open to any other options or suggestions.(except something directly available from the manufacturer. This is replacing stolen equipment so I'm dealing with AJRS, awesome company btw.) Thanks
  14. Oh and I really need to pick out an amp for these. They're rated at 350 rms. But i haven't purchased them yet so I could still do 1ohm or 2. Any suggestions?
  15. Well what's the best way to design a box around air displacement?
  16. ok. so using your info I tried 3"w x 3.25" tall. that gives a 9.75" crosssectional area. For a 35 hz tuning frequency, length says 20.3" which i should very easily be able to do. But thats all according to the calculator. Now what is the recommend 12-16 in^3 figure you speak of?
  17. According to this guy -http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 - With volume at .88 and vent sizes 1.5"w x 3.25"h and tuning frequency @35hz my port length should be 9.61" That sounds kinda short to me. How Should i pick my tuning frequency?
  18. Damn you had some bad luck with those fart boxes efx. I'm pretty sure i'm gonna go with my current plan. 2 upfiring boxes with the ports firing forward out over the tranny hump. Do you think putting an angle to the ports such as aiming them at the windshield or more towards the floor will make a big difference in sound quality. Or just shoot em straight out horizontally. Cuz I really want these to sound good.
  19. Oh ok. Guess i misread. But yes it is possible but it would take away airspace. How do you guys calculate your port dimensions?
  20. Thats what happens when you use the metric system. duh.
  21. Ouch. Yeah thats something I didn't take into consideration but I understand. But would that effect sound quality?
  22. Well thats the plan buddy. If i build just a regular wedge style box that fits underneath the seat it'll give me .88 ft^3 after sub displacement. And with the room over the tranny hump (that never sounds right) i'll build external ports that fire forward into the cab. But i talked to a shop the other day and they said they've done it before but with the port firing backwards so it would "load" off the back of the cab. Does that make any sense to you guys??
  23. Ok cool. Now i just need to figure out my port dimensions and pick out an amp. any suggestions?
  24. Yo chuck. Depends. do you want spl or SQ?
  25. I gotchya. So my question now would be should I go ahead and build the 2 seperate boxes for 2 speakers? or just buy one Sub and build a bigger box that will somehow still fit. Any yeah iml2001ser i found that after countless hours of internet browsing and I have many other sites for ext cab gm truck boxes so if you're interested pm me.
