that would be 5.6 after the port do you think its really nessary for 1 inch thick mdf or do you think just the sheet that has the subs and the rest 3/4? also what kinda power handling will it have with say 5.7 ported compared to 5.7 sealed? like if you build the box to max specs how will the power handling be compared to the min specs?

fully loaded btl but i went there to ask about gettin an enclosure built for 2 fi 15" q's and of course i had to hear about how great the mtx 9500 is and how fi cant compete with RE im sure RE are good subs the diamond audio's they played knocked but even if i was gonna buy there brand of subs i would order it off the net tax free and like 300 cheaper

I'm gonna have a box built next month its gonna be ported at either 32 or 33hz with 1inch thick mdf and will be around 5.6 to 6.2 cubic feet i got the bp option at they are dual 1 ohm i'm running a JBL GTO 1400.1 amp which will be wired @ 4 ohms to push 1200 watts rms until i down the road get get a different amp my question is a. i kinda want to go with soundstream what model would you recommend and i would kinda like to run 4 ohms so i have very little distortion b. i might not be able to fit a box that is 5.6 cubic feet or above if it is 1" thick mdf should i go 3/4 thick with 1" for the front part and some braces or 1" thick all the way around and make the port a little bit smaller than 12 sq inch per cubic feet so i can meet the recommended volume or should i just go sealed? I really want a ported box though although i got a friend that has a couple kove audio 15s sealed and they sound really good also this is in a 04 mustang minus a backseat I got a soundstream taruntual 4 channel coming in the mail 2 infinity kappa 6x9s later on im gonna get some infinity componets up front and put a kinetik battery/ 240 amp altenator in

I went to a car audio place and they basically tried to discredit fi and say theres no way a sub of less than 600 can handle 5000 watts how does a fi Q w/ bp compare to a Re Mx and a MTX Thunder Square 750s

no 2000 watts total i dont want to have to get some crazy electrical system for my system

yea same power same enclosure size same tuned freq with 2000 watts powering two subs 1000 each do i really need the bl i mean the q w/the bp option is 1500 rms each that should easily handle the amp right?

what about 2 15s vs 1 18 i know the 15s have way more cone area but which will be louder?

bl vs q how different do you think it will sound for power im gonna be using at first my jbl gto 1400 which puts out 1400 rms at 2 ohms not sure what it puts out at 1 ohm then later im changing to a soundstream taruntula that puts out 2000 rms at 1 ohm

yea it's a double slant box like trapezoid shaped i want to make holes for 2 15s instead of 12s and redo the top so it has a monster port thats like 24" x 6" by whatever height it takes to make it tuned to 32hz and hopefully that will take the box volume down in the 5 cubic feet range i just blew 2 kicker cvx 12s that were in this box for about 2 months i know the box was way to big for those subs i specifically told the guy to make it 4.5 cubic feet and tuned to 32 hz when i checked out the deminsions i realized he had made it like 6.2 cubic feet and tuned to 27 hz which is so low most songs are a lot quiter than my old 3.0 cubic feet box the 3 cubic feet was tuned to 29hz

yea im thinking about having the front recut for 2 15s the box is something like (off the top of my head) 39w 24d and 19h something like that i know its 6.2 cubic feet if i cut the port and made it a inch shorter it would bring it up to like 30 hz

Im looking at which one to get my box is 6.3 cubic feet ported at 27 hz, according to recommendations the btl is the only choice but i only have a weak 1500 watts RMS at 2 ohms and don't want to get 4 batteries and 3 alternators I don't really care about sound quality as long as it sounds better than my kicker cvx 12's i got right now and I want it to hit all the notes right now it only hits low notes and pretty much doesnt even play high bass that you hear in most songs
