SPL?
I am currently getting all the peices together on my new setup. I will be running 3 12" Memphis pr's in a ported box. I believe the box is tuned in the low 30's. Stock alternator, and a ed Nine.1, giving each around 400 watts a peice. it's going into an extended cab truck.... anyone have a guess at around how loud this setup is going to be? i'm just curious at what you guys think.

got my amp!
yea, i finally got all my parts, just got my box built, subs, and amp i'm going to be running 3 memphis power reference 12"s in a ported box with about 2 cubes for each sub, and each'll be getting around 400 watts a peice. once i get it all hooked up i'll definitely throw a couple pics on here... so has anyone heard bad things about the ed's?

got my amp!

quick amplifier question
Ok. yea i've heard great things about the other lines of hifonice, but the brutus series tend to get a lot of negative feedback, which is why i was looking at getting a better rated amp. the memphis amp would be used, which is why i'll probably go with the orion, mainly just because it's got a 3 month warranty and there doesnt seem to be many great amps stable at one ohm in the 200-300 price range for the power I need.

quick amplifier question
....or a memphis power reference rated at 1000 watt rms @ 1 ohm so many amps, yet just so confused!! ooh, and by the way, i was really looking forward to running the rl-ps, but for less space usage, wattage usage, and $$$, i've decided to go with 3 power reference 12's from memphis in a ported box... i've got everything sitting in my room, now i just need to rerun bigger wires in my truck and buy the amp and i'll be the loudest on the road within 100 miles lol! just throwing out the choices i've got to work with hoping someone can put me in the right direction. thanks!

quick amplifier question
what about an orion xtr pro? they're rated at 1000 watts at 1 ohm. I could get a refurb. for $250 w/ a 90 day full repair warranty.. snach it while I can or not a great amp... i'm not all that hip yet on subs and amps mainly because i live practically in the middle of nowear (southern louisiana haha) and there arent too many bass enthusiasts, but any help in setting up a great system would be appreciated.

quick amplifier question
yea, i'm not in a huge rush, but i'd like to have a solid amp that doesnt crap out on me after a few months. even if the brutus is overrated, i've heard a lot of bad comments as well as good so i'm kinda in the middle on whether getting it or not. even a solid 900 watt amp would be sweet, i'm just kinda looking for an amp around that power range that's bridgable down to one ohm.

quick amplifier question
anyone ever had experience with hifonics? i've heard a lot of trash talking and underrating, but still even if it's underrated, it would be only pushing around 1000 or so... that's still a good deal for only 180$ but if these amps just absolutely suck, is there any amp someone could suggest in the 250$ range that would produce about 1000 watts rms? thanks a lot

box question
just wondering, but i always used to fill the box with pillow stuffing because (from what i was told) helps out the sound. is this true? and if it is, i'm getting the rl-p's in a ported box. it's gunna be one chamber with two ports. would the pillow stuffing do any good in a ported box? thanks

Finally got the funds!
i've looked at the new poles that everyone's been submiting, and it seems to be getting more about "vs." and i know everyone hates those poles, but since i'm really looking into these subs, i just really want to know what to expect and no b.s.... I used to have a 12" punch hx2 (the old ones), i've had solo-baric 12's, and kicker comp 12's, and as far as i know, none of these subs compare to the sq from ss, but i'm wondering if theres a box tuned or built to make these subwoofers absolutely PUND! i know they have good sq, but i'm thinking w/ a 3" voice coil, these things should be louder than any of the speakers listed above my favorite subwoofer owned was that punch 12. i think that if i would have had 2 it would have been louder than the solo's... any comments on what to expect once i buy the rlp 12's? thanks

What do you think?
- What do you think?
really? sweet, but i'm looking at the 12's i think if i get a (ported) box built to specs, then i should be alrite huuh? the setup's gunna be in a silverado extended cab.- What do you think?
p.s. they were in a sealed box at about 400 watts rms each- What do you think?
I know the rl-p's are solid LSQ drivers, but just how much is the split between sq and spl? I used to have a pair of L7 12's and was happy with the spl, but not as happy with the sq. I liked those subs and since both are around the same price range, i was wondering how the rlp's would compare to the L7's spl-wise thanks- using ss subs, how many dbs have you hit
I know it's a stupid questiion, but i've never been in a competition and i know 151's and 155's must be loud just by the reactions those #'s are, but how loud is that really? it sounds like you couldnt even sit in the car (which is a good thing! haha) and has anyone been rated with the 2 12's?- WOW
Chit... a little early for me... but that's fine another thing i'd like to know about is the price range. it seems fairly reasonable for a good LSQ woofer, but a big chip of income from a local lifeguard haha. $7/h isn't going to get me the cash untill probably late july. i'm hoping the price won't shoot up in the summer like the local audio shops do...- WOW
lol, sweet! yea i've been keeping up with all of the forums here and just reading up on what other people had to say on them, I noticed mike likes to keep up in the forums himself, which I think is pretty cool! but yea, that's exactly what i'm looking for - "bass so loud it rattles my nutts!" (on the main page) and if Mike's 2 12's can make my dream come true, then i'd be happy to rep SS!! lol I also looked up the group buy.. has that ended yet?- WOW
Yeah, that's something else i've heard, the customer service is really good too! that's also really important. I'm just a little scared to spend the cash on these "mystery" subs, though. All i'm going by is what other people have to say, and i don't know if it's what i'm looking for yet. I used to have two l7's in a sealed box in my xtended cab silverado and i was happy with that.. i was thinking L7 12's ported would be nice, but i've seen some ss pron that just blew me away!! those subs poke pretty far out there... these subs would be the cheaper buy from the l7's, but i'd really like to know more about the ss's performance you know- WOW
I have been shopping around for new subs for a long time now, switching back and fourth from all kinds of speakers, but in this forum, EVERYONE seems to be happy with soundsplinter. i can't believe it noone has NOTHING bad to say about these subs, which say a lot about the product. i'm looking for decent sq, but really high spl, and from what i've read on the forums on both here and on sounddomain.com, these sound like the speakers that would match my wants. i still want to know a little more, though... to me it sounds almost too good to be true. the subs were compared to re xxx's on sounddomain and a few people said that these subs are about what and what (the 15's), but the xxx's are w a y more expensive! this sub seems almost too good to be true.... is it a good daily driver? if i would get anything it'd be 2 12's in a ported box with a brutus 1500. i know it's long, but there isnt anyone here that seems snobby or won't be happy to help a newbie out! thanks - What do you think?
