  1. Honestly, I think you'll be just fine on stock electrical, go ahead and try it, and if it doesn't workout, then get another battery.
  2. oh I knew they were being massively overpowered.. I just didn't care lol. I hooked it up to .5 ohms which is about 7k on my amp and they are rated for 1k each.. go figure any vids of this episode? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he has 2 videos on Youtube, 2 12" RE Audio SE's on a Stetsom 7KD. Sorry if it's not the same person, but here's the videos.
  3. What are those called that you put around the cutouts to seal it better? I can't think of the name of them right now.
  4. Any updates??
  5. What song are you playing in the videos?
  6. How much did that alternator cost you?
  7. Email Nick at Fi Car Audio. [email protected]
  8. Eh, not yet.
  9. Yep. Oh well, time for some trial and error, maybe fire and explosion too. Shoot vids plz!! then post on Youtube and become famous. IF I live.
  10. Doesn't matter that much, I'm only 16 (17 in May), not in school, no job yet, just went to 21 places the other day looking for one, I'm a very quick learner though, I may seem like a total noob in this thread, but believe me, I'm not, I just have a hard time explaining things the way I see them in my mind. Thanks for all the help everyone. And, as a reply to blue fury, when I do get a job, I will be getting my own car and doing everything right, and as clean as possible.

  12. Ok, then I guess I'm stuck running a bunch of 12 gauge for now, unless 01 S 10 actually has some 4 gauge he can send me.:bigclap:
  13. So a cap and 12 gauge wire is going to make the alternator put out more power? No, but a capacitor is supposed to give you some of that extra power that you need and help with voltage problems. And enough 12 gauge should equal 4 gauge or more, we've already figured that one out, I'm just trying to plan ahead in case that doesn't help with some of the voltage problems.
  14. Something by Pioneer or Alpine, look on www.sonicelectronix.com or www.onlinecarstereo.com Sonic has better prices and better descriptions, but everything is around $15 for shipping, and Online Car Stereo has most the stuff Sonic has for around $5 more and any order over $100 is free shipping. So look around on Sonic for one you like, then buy it from OCS, or eBay...
  15. Yeah but I've already figured out that a bunch of 12 gauge will equal 4 gauge, if not more, so if I still have voltage problems after that, I'll just get a cheap cap, but I'm not sure what size cap to get. I'm thinking around 2 farad, the manual on Rockford's site says 1.5 farad, but I wanna get a cheap off brand one, like Boss or something. NO Ok ok, jeez... lol sorry it's so blunt but the lasagna finished cooking. Really, you'd be wasting your money to go this route. In the money it takes to buy a cheap cap, you could get all the used 4g you need. Yeah, but would it really be worth it to buy 4 gauge when the alternator probably can't handle it? It's only a 75 amp alternator, the amplifier draws around 100 amps on music according to the manual.
  16. I live in Portland Oregon, and I'm not sure how much I would need, enough to get from the battery to the 2nd row seat in a 93 suburban.
  17. It might of just been the one he had, and besides, I was only playing a MP3 CD, it might respond faster on other functions. But while it was playing the CD, it took forever to turn the volume up or down, or do anything for that matter.
  18. Someone I knew had that head unit, I don't know if it works with an iPod, but the one thing I remember about it was it had really slow response time when pressing buttons.
  19. I don't know anyone, or I would. I've already decided to go ahead and take the risk of just using 4-6 runs of 12 gauge since it equals about the same, and like someone said previously, electricity is stupid, it's not gonna know the difference between a crap load of 12 gauge and a single 4 gauge.
  20. I'm thinking around 2 farad, the manual on Rockford's site says 1.5 farad, but I wanna get a cheap off brand one, like Boss or something. Buy the 4guage and reuse it later? You're missing the fact that I don't have money for 4 gauge. Then again, I don't have money for a capacitor either.

  22. Well, it's already hooked up right now with 1 run of 12 gauge, and it works fine at 4 ohms with the gain about half way, but once I turn the gain up a bit more, the voltage drops into lower 12, sometimes 11 on really low notes, and when I max the gain (don't worry, the subs can handle it...maybe) the voltage is constantly around 11, and lower 10 on low notes. So, I really don't wanna get 4 gauge for a crappy install, I'd rather just get a capacitor and add some more 12 gauge, as long as I take a little time and do it good enough, I won't run into any problems. Hey, it's better than last time when I had a single run of 16 gauge that caught on fire under the hood, the wire I'm using now doesn't even warm up. Where is your volt meter? I just have a digital multimeter I use, and of course there's the analog voltage display on the dash, and then there's the famous way of telling your voltage is dropping too low when your lights don't even seem like they're on anymore. I had the DMM directly on the positive and negative terminals on the amp.
  23. Gahhh, every time I'm done with one reply, there's 2+ more. Ok, replying to everyone, I don't want to buy more wire, I have no money, no job, sad, I know, I'm just trying to make this work out of what I have, which is 500 feet of 600V 12 gauge wire, this is just a temporary install. If I had the money to do it right, I would, but sadly, I don't.
