im in the same situation, and im tuning mine to 32hz aswell. since were tuning to 32hz, is that "low"? in other words should we aim for 2.5cuft box?

im probably gonna hit you up in the future when i get some money doc i got a 12" q now, im gonna build a ported box this spring break and see how i like it ported. if it's not enough i'm gonna go up to a 15" q, or get another 12" q, or try out some SSA stuff. probably a Icon. i really don't know yet. but you HAVE to get vids up soon dude. cause i'll be making my decision quick. but i agree i love my Q i couldn't be happier with it's performance and it's not even broken in, or tuned all that well yet! my gains are all the way down cause i never knew how to do it untill recently. this weekend i'm getting it all tuned up. long live Fi! oh and on your story note, i've gotten amazing responses from mine too.. mine cute little 12 keeps my gf from driving with me, she always wants to take her car but yet she makes me drive it cause she doesn't like to drive. can't complain, its not my gas =]. and as far as friends, up here in alaska, atleast at HS, systems aren't a bigggggg thing, but i know pretty much all teh kids in town with something besides a walmart pos sony. and they got RF, Alpines, JL, and they never heard of mine (i'm the only person in south east alaska with this sub) and they all are amazed with how it hits sealed, i can't wait till it's ported and i kill my cousins 2 12 P2's. i just played White girl in his car today for the first time i've heard it on a system and his first time hearin the song. it sounds like it's wayyy to low for his setup and the higher note hit it pretty nicely. i checked the hz on audacity just now and i think the low note is 32hz? maybe i'm wrong and i didnt do it right.. i hope i did cause i'm tuning my box to 32hz. and it'll be amazing.

k, i got a couple more questions 1) when i'm setting my gains up. i watched a couple video's on youtube, and some used a DMM (how i will do it). some people went to 40volts, some went to 60volts.. which should i go to? or how can i figure out what i should go too? 2) test tones, when setting my gains, does that matter a whole lot? should i use what ever my box will be tuned too? on the demo video's everyone used 50hz. 3) enclosure size, i'm abotu to build a box for my 12" Q, and the recommendations on Fi website say 1.8-2.5 cuft. what will the different box size sound like between 1.8cuft and 2.5cuft? like a general rule of thumb would be nice

maybe its just me but i have a 15" Q and no one rreally gets out or anything. theyre like DAMMMM thats loud as **** and their expression is priceless but it doesnt really hurt unless i keep it loud for awhile.... should i turn my box around so it all fires into the cabin? it's all on personal preference more then anything. well besides a good box install. but if they all think it's loud as fuhh, thats all that matters right? i mean do you really want them to get out of the car? hahah

How low does "true" rap go? he sounds like a non mainstream rap kinda guy. they're the only ones i hear ever say "true" or "real" rap and they are reffering to everything outside of mainstream, except 90% of them all listen to lil wayne no matter how much crap they talk about him true story.

speakin of trucks, i figured i'll pipe in on my parents ol classics my moms truck - 1967 Chevrolet K1500, partially restored, don't know much about it. and my mom isn't home so i can't get details for ya my dads truck - 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne, in the process of being restored. new paint yadda yadda, same with details here. i'll get them later. my dads toy - 1982 Chevrolet El Camino, 504 big block, process of being restored. new (old) paint. won last years car show and it's not even restored yet. custom interior dash and new bucket seats, not done yet.. my mom can't decide if she wants to restore her K1500, she just got it this summer so she's not really attached to it yet. but if we were to restore it completely we could easily sell it for 35000. they're all sooooooooo sickk, i'll put picks up of the truck later, i won't be able to get the elcamino untill next week when i go down to the shop. what do ya all think?!

oh wow, so i think my whole perspective on what's higher and lower notes are backwards, i always thought that the first hit on "I put on" was lower and it went higher from there.. (if i remember right it's been 2 months since i've heard my subs due to medical surgeries ) my sub loves that 38hz tone.. maybe 29, i forget. but that's good to know. iw as thinking about tuning my box to 32hz, but now i'm not sure if i should go higher. in the near future i'm also thinking about selling my Q and pickin up a BL or something else more SPL oriented just to see if i like that more. and i know i want atleast a 15". so you think mine will hit a mid 30's with a decent install eh, what do you think my friends 2 RF P1 12's are getting in a ported box. i really don't know much about it, cause he doesn't either, nor does he care it just hits pretty hard that's all he cares about =/. if i remmeber right (he's only told me once) it's some sort of sub putting out i think 1600. thats all he said i know he didn't specify at what ohms it's rated or anything like that. im just lookin for a rough estimate, i'll know soon enough hopefully spring break how mine is comparing to that.

1) so i don't think there is a meter in my town, nor has there ever been one. (i live in teh capital of Alaska, but the only way in and out of town is by plane or boat either way it's 2/6 hours outta here.) so for someone just starting in car audio like me and all of my friends. we have no idea what 140+ or i'm sure 130+ db sounds like.. how can you explain it to some noobs so we can get a guess as to what were hitting with our subs? 2) how do i know about what htz my music is hitting, i mainly listen to hip-hop/rnb/rap. a very even mix of all. and i was just readin in another thread that pretty much rap and really heavy bass songs are higher bass hits.. well how high? and how low is a common low? basically my issue here is my 12" fi Q, its sealed now and i'm gonna go ported to try something knew. figure out what i like.. and idk where to tune it, and/or what it will handle and sound decent with. 3) i had more that kept coming up but when i try and think of them ig ot nothin.. ill post wheni can think of them. anyone feel free to ask random questions here.
