  1. Some companies claim that their alternators are vastly superior to the competition claiming that adding an external rectifier and or regulator and adding diodes fixes everything. Well, there’s no doubt that taking the rectifier out of the alternator will help to some degree, it’s not a cure all fix. What about the windings? Are they up to being pushed to 200-300% of their rated output? Not likely. Are the stock internal cooling fans able to pull enough air to efficiently cool the alternator, again, not likely. What about the aftermarket voltage regulator? Again, not likely. The sad truth is that adding external anything to an alternator is generally a bandaid to fix a problem. The primary reason for externally rectifying an alternator is because the components used inside the alternator just aren’t up to the task and will fail without it. Remember, something is only as strong as it’s weakest link, just because you fix one problem, doesn’t mean another one isn’t ready to show it’s ugly head.

  6. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Between getting way to many quotes for a single person. Here is a little article we wrote up not too long ago: How many times have you heard one of our competition advertise you will get xxx output by 800 engine RPM’s and thought, WOW! That’s a lot of output! Well, what are they really telling you? Well, for one, they’re telling you that you’ll have xxx output at that engine RPM, but what does that MEAN to you? Well, for one they’re avoiding telling you what idle output really is on their alternator and telling you what it does *off* idle.. Let’s say they claim 165 amps by 800 engine RPM, but wait a minute you think, my car only idles at 550 RPM? Considering that with standard 3.5:1 pulley ratio, those 250 engine RPM’s equate to almost 900 alternator RPM’s, that could be a 100 amp difference between actual idle output and “output at 650 engine RPM’s” That can also mean the difference between being able to adequately supply your cars most basic needs, and a recipe for disaster. What DC quotes you is what it will do at YOUR vehicle idle without having to rev your engine to 800 RPMs to get xxx output. Hopefully that clarifies things
  7. Glad to hear you're satisfied! Please let me know if there is anything else we can do for you. I apologize for the mixups and if you haven't already called us about it please let us know.
