  1. I still need to find a place for the tweeters ! The Focal filters will take place near the amplifier.
  2. Today we'll hook everything, and instal the head unit. Power cable and rca's are already in place. The box will be done next week. I got the design from RAM.
  3. 15% tint. Rear windows were already dark, stock tint. in a hurry ...before the night, we just took out the stock plastic box to put that ring in. After 8 years, the Focal mid needed a little point of glue ;-) very bad picture, but you can guess the amplifiers mounted and the Chinese Group 31 battery I will use (it was relatively cheap, and available). 2 shops should receive XS batteries in a few weeks, but they will be 3 times more expensive, and I can't wait !
  4. I like your box. Good job on the kerf. I hope you'll enjoy it. What car do you drive ?
  5. I think I'll have it on the passenger side. Not the best for metering, but it will be louder to me on the driver seat !
  6. Voltmeter and a smart phone/tablet/computer running a function generator. Audacity is free and will do what you need. Instructions a few posts back, if you have questions ask. If you use the headunit for the sub, then you need a 2 way crossover. I'd personally get the 4 way advanced instead of the 4 way as it allows custom biquads. Same price as well. The 2 way is for a driver + sub. The 4 way splits one input into two outputs that you can configure anyway you want. It will NOT do summing for a sub though. For a front stage only 4 way is what you want. They email you those once you buy them. No need to worry about it up front. Voltmeter :ok computer/smartphone : ok Audacity : I will get it. This may be a fun experience. I know it will take some times to achieve a good sound, but I will try. First thing first : install everything and have some serious music in the car. Then, mini dsp install, after some studies... Thanks.
  7. Ok, port will stand up on the back panel, firing back. What do you think ? On the driver side, or on the passenger side ? I will meter the system, but it is made to listen to music everyday, not to win any competition.
  8. My head unit has a LPF for the sub : I may not need anything else. I don't know how to measure the passive crossovers, and what tool I need for that. I will start with the passive filters, and then (when I take them out, later), I'll add a mini dsp, with the DC isolator, the volume knob, but I need to find out what plug in to get.
  9. that is exactly what will be done : 2 wires in each front door. One for the tweeter and one for the mid.
  10. I talked to my installer : he will run 2 wires from the amp to each door. That will allow me to use the set passive until I buy a mini dsp. Best and cheapest solution for me. I took a look at their site, I don't even understand what I need to order !
  11. Thanks. Phonocar is an old Italian brand. They are the only one who sell adapters for each car we have, dash kit, wire, amps,..., and now those wood rings I found in a serious local car audio shop.
  12. Thanks guys. can't wait ! And I'm on vacations these days... The dash kit is coming. A friend is geting it from France for me in a few days.
  13. The stock head unit : and some old pics just for fun :
  14. the Zcon : I have a picture of the mids and highs speakers, but it's too ugly. I can't post it ! I'll take a better one assp. a little rca mess : I like those wood rings for the mids : they are well done. thanks to Phonocar (the only brand I know making EVERYTHING for car audio) :
  15. The head unit, still in its box : A set of rca's for the mids & highs : the fuse holder I will use near the front battery :
  16. Hi everyone ! I own a brand new MAzda CX-5 2.2 l Diesel. It's my first SUV, I've never had so much room in the cargo area ! I'm still waiting on a dash kit and an adaptor for the head unit. I sold a lot of things from my ex car, the Toyota : rca's, power and ground (cca) wires, box, a Kinetic 1200, a DD 9515 ;-) and more....It gave me some serious cash to buy a few items. Here what I have so far : head unit : Pioneer X5600BT I need a double DIN unit to keep the screen for the parking radar (how do you call that ?) Amplifiers : Incriminator Audio 20.1 for the bass and a 3.4 for the mids & highs. (thanks SSA for the Black&Blue sale). Sub : SSA Zcon 15" Mids & highs : my old set of Focal 165 KP still with its original passive filters. Box : design from RAM is coming... Wires : Knu and Phonocar rca's, Knu 0 gauge power set, and what I already had. I'm not a photographer, so here are some pics
  17. I will install and use the passive filters in the back, near the amplifier. When I chose a way to run my system active, I'll ditch the passive filters. I need to read seriously about the mini dsp before I order anything. Can someone give me some good choices on other processors, please ?
  18. Ooh ! I need a pc to use it ? Do you mean a computer or a pc with Windows ? I have an Apple laptop, I hope I could use it with the mini dsp. I'll check that with our friend Google ! Honnestly I'd rather use something I can adjust on the fly ! Without any more equipment. But I guess that leaves me with more expensive choices like the ms-8 ou the Audison bit-smthing.
  19. Happy birthday
