how big is too big for 2 rl-p12s sealed?
big sealed box = lots of low bass but less power handling, sounds like what you want!

My RL-p box sucked, now it's in a better home with
i had a bit of an accident today, mu hu plays mp3s and i was randoming thru a mixed cd with tons of different music on it,recorded at different levels??? one song finished..faded out and eminem kicked in so loud i thought i was getting rear ended by a semi(felt like the car had been rear ended and then the brakes on the semi had locked and we were 'skipping' down the road)! i reached for the volume but realised it was not distorting??? and sounded insane! i left it there 'just to see' what it would do, i was kind of expecting a fuse to pop or the sub to start complaining somehow??...NOTHING it just kept going? i got 600wrms and my rl-p plays phat bass lines from eminems encore cd at levels that make me wanna scream out loud!......just dont know what 1stpimp is doing wrong?

using only 100 watts in HT with rlp 15 ported?
i could be wrong but i don't find thats the case for home theater amps.. they're mostly 8 and 4 ohms... cheaper ones like partsexpress plate ones anyways... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> my bad.....thought we were talking cars?

can he have the bigger box made and if hes not happy add some mdf to make it smaller internally?- using only 100 watts in HT with rlp 15 ported?
yea but there are lots of amps out there that do max power @ 2 oms! m'nizzle.....- RL-p 15 in a too big box
in fact i bet it sounds awesome......- RL-p 15 in a too big box
had my rl-p 12 infinite baffle for a couple of weeks off 600 watts-sounded excellent.id say do the fudgeing........- rl-p infinite baffle works good
no read back a few posts, i built a box around it!- rl-p infinite baffle works good
had my first 'real crank' today...steve vai 'passion and warefare' not the best produced cd in the world but man does my car sound good... after the line driver and some poly fill installed today i dont think ill be doing anything to it for a while!..................so loud, so tight, so deep.......- using only 100 watts in HT with rlp 15 ported?
but if its not a clean 100 watts you could seriously damage your driver! as soon as you hear anything that sounds 'questionable' turn it down a bit.- rl-p infinite baffle works good
not into soundstage, just tunes! my fronts are 4.5 and rears are 5.5 gotta get a bit a midbass somewhere!- My RL-p box sucked, now it's in a better home with
i bet if he had a full compliment of tools he could screw nothing! which means he 's at the mercy of someone with a saw? 2 cubes tuned to 34 could become 1.7 tuned to 39 in no time ...and he'll be back posting neg things about this sweet driver again? someone trade him an audiobahn driver for pitys sake!- rl-p infinite baffle works good
mmmmmm?? welll my phoenix gold mono sub amp has a lowpass crossover variable from 300-30hz and my jvc head unit has a sub x over @ 60-80-100 and 120 so im guessing 'they' think we can get more from our subs than just 30-70? and the ss filter goes down to 5! i play a lot of hip hop / rap and jazz some rock / metal dance rnb soul err actuall depending on my mood i listen to everyhing?,some of the bass guitars have 5 and 6 strings, i dont know what the freqs are of a 6 string bass but its WAY low....... and some of the rap hip hop stuff has synths etc on them that are stupid low..........if your box/sub/amp can get there!- rl-p infinite baffle works good
interesting? when sealed in this box the rl-p is not remarkeably different than in the i.b. arrangement after first listen? sq is different -not better or worse just 'preference subjective'..... the rl-p, ib is, 1. effortlessly low, 2.'breathy' in delivery, 3.very musical and non fatigueing 4.gets a little confused at higher volumes (probably because my trunk area is not perfectly sealed) 2.in this box, 1.almost as low??????????? really close???? 2. more 'obvious'in its delivery 3.not confused at allat higher volumes. 4.a little 'boxy' (probably because its in a box) so im going to leave it like this as long as i can and report more when ive had more time with it.cant say for sure i didnt enjoy the ib arrangement so much i wont seal that trunk up perfect? (lots of wood and fibreglass and time)?? ill get back! the strap was just to hold it while i screwed it..... (like my wife)- new member...my RL-p 15 pics

well its been i.b. for over a week now and yesterday i tried a 2cube slotported box tuned to 32-34hz? (dimensions were a little off as the cutsheet and desighn were slightly different) ididnt like slot ported one bit? some of my music has real real lows and with the ssf at about 30 i was missing all of it! in the i.b set up i get all of it , also i dont know about where a ported box rools off up higher bit it seemed to me that it wasnt playing anything above about 70 hz? afterplaying with the ported box for an hour and tweaking i realized it was never going to give me what i want. the i.b sounds great - on everything. untill i start to play loud, then it freaks out a bit, im going to build a box 1.25-ish, around the sub and then ill have a sealed box fireing straight into the cabin. meanwhile if anyone wants a free 2 cubed tuned to 32-34 hz box and your near n cal, come ne get it, otherwise its going on the fire!- ahh I know I should of gone with soundsplinter
i added a bit but it got mixed up with yours...look carefully!- ahh I know I should of gone with soundsplinter
- Some pics of my rl-p
get it in a box n da car!......- its a disease
details neon!............... re-read the first sentence of my last post!- its a disease
i think part of the problem is the way music is recorded, some tracks sound great and others sound like cr@p, and on any given day i want to listen to different types of music, its trying to get EVERYTHING to sound good in acarthats is the root ofthe problem.i am going toresighn myself to the fact that some tracksare gonna sound cr@p and just stop the tweaking! pm me if you have anything for sale- its a disease
i got 3 subs,...in my house,kitchen,living and tv!- its a disease
music is a wonderful thing, and where can we enjoy it more than 'cranked' a bit in our cars?.....ill take the focals- its a disease
i swore to myself yesterday that i would 'leave the system alone' for a month,to fully appreciate and give it a chance. but less than 12 hours go by and im wonderin,if i threw a box on that baffle ???? new speakers in the doors? deadening material/hood/firewall liner?........i will not touch it for a month...i will not,no no no!!!!.........must sleep..... stop thinking bout the sounds......notice wife........perhaps just the door speakers?.... - Can you guys critique my projected box specs?
