1/2 order x-over FTW?!

Not in home audio, the chassis is much larger and thus you can fit better amps into it. It depends on your goals/budget too. I would want separates JUST to have more gear A good Denon,Marantz, Onkyo 5.1/7.1 reciever would be MORE than enough for 95% of the world..... just not techno-freaks like myself.

Budget will play a huge roll here.... but since you're a student I'll take a stab and suggest some "bargains". Anything by (new or used, see www.audiogon.com or ebay): Rotel, Adcom, Outlaw audio, Onkyo, Denon, Carver , Aragon (hard to find these days), Parasound, plus many more. These are companies that would often be considered entries into the "high end". Of course your needs will depict exactly what kind of gear you want. Crown does make good amps but if your being all "audiophile" about it you would want one of their Studio Reference amps and they are crazy $$$$$.
