A lot of those materials such as dynamat or deflex pads aren't just heavy though.... they are very efficient at changing the pressure waves comming in perpendicular to the material into waves that move parallel to it's surface and spread out once "absorbed".

I gotta work on my enclosure today too Mike2. What tools you gonna use? I gotta use the jig, the orbital sander, and a pencil. Might get the router out but I'm not sure if I'll get that far.
