Is that amp 80x4? I don't wanna look it up I'll list manufacturers I've heard before and liked.... 1. Boston (I currently have the Ralley Comps. and would change em for something "new" but they work so well for me I can't bring myself to do it ) 2. Dynaudio. A little $$ for what you get but they do rock. 3. Diamond audio M6/D6 hex comps. Very "sweet" sounding. 4. DLS UR6 comps. These were a surprise to me, but they were quite nice. 5. Morel elates. Not as high volume (something you seem to want) but nice none the less. 6. Focal Utopia... mids don't like to be abused Of the "name" brands that I would avoid are CDT and MB Quart.... just not that great sounding to me.

I should have said Dynamic....... you might have preouts that have dynamic spikes higher than they should be.... or the song you are using might be poorly recorded? I was just taking a guess at the problem.

Something's instantaneous power output is higher than advertised? This is why I like to set my gains by ear and only use a DMM as a 2x check.
