  1. A single piece would be fine cause it is a shot distance so a small wire can handle alot more power. i have a single piece of 12 Awg on my and it is fine. How much power are u giving the sub and what AWG do u plan on using??
  2. It is all up to the users preference and the specs on the sub. The lowest you could go is 30hz. Alpine says 33hz at 1.7ft for each sub. The problem with that calculator is that is doesnt take into account the displacement of the sub. So 3.4cuft would be internal area before port area tuned to 33 hz.
  3. What are u trying to wire to it?? I was in the archive of rockford and all i seen for manuals were for the Punch, power, and prime.

The loaded BTL Would be louder and it would have a smaller box than the two SSDs.

Please dont use all caps!!!! Are going to port it or have it sealed?? Aswell are u after a powerful musical sub or and all out power sub for SPL purposes??
  6. The battery you have under the hood roughly how old is it??
  7. I see in your sig u have only listed equipment for a sub stage. So what im wondering is do you have another amp powering your front stage??
  8. I don't think its the headunit ground but it wouldn't hurt to try it to see if it stops. Also like SSaudio said how and where do u have ur amps grounded??
  9. The old school Soundstream amp were known for this problem. Now I dont know if they ever fixed the problem or not. The only way i know how to fix it is by wiring a toogle switch which would allow u to turn off the amps b4 you even turn off the vehicle. Even over at DIY they put a delay inline with the headunit so the amps power down before the headunit. This switch would do the trick Parts Express. Just take your remote wire going to that amp and put this inline with it. Hope this helps
  10. I really couldnt hear the pop in the video. So is it the front speakers or your sub??
  11. Like Adrian and KU40 said is the best way to tune But if you want to do it this way instead of using a 0db tone use a -10db tone. This tone is a lot closer to what actual music plays.
  12. First off those setting are part of the parametric EQ. The F is the Freq - the number you pick is the spot u cut or boost at The Q is the with the the boost or the cut Turn the extend off cause that acts as a bass boost You can mess with these to tailor your sound Hopw this helps
  13. Just so you know the pics are not showing up.
  14. I have heard a few stories about an amplifier getting grounded through the casing. Which is like blowing a fuse but not as easy to fix. Maybe this could be your case. Unfortunely I'm not an amp guru.
  15. Now u know that all your electrical is a ok. So jus for laughs I would hook up the sony again to see if it works. Now also when u rehook up the sony I would wire it to 2 ohms. At least that way you are going to give them more power. If it still doesn't then the problem is the amp.
  16. with the rockford u got the volume past 14 without going into protect?? also was the rockford a two channel amp?? if everything wotked well with the rockford i would rehook up the sony to see if it works now, if it still has the same problem then ur sony amp done.
  17. by chance do u have another amp laying around u can try??
  18. I dont think it your amp cause if it was the amp it would be in protect all the time so im leading it is something with wiring. Could u take a pic of the amp installed in your car??
  19. so u have one of the subs + and - match to channel ones + and - on the amp right?? The subs could handle 400 watts rms each, So that gives u 800 watts total but the amp u have is probably only giving about 180 watts to each speaker. So where do u have the gains set as well as do u have the the bass boost off??
  20. What focal comp is he getting??? Aswell what Alpine headunit is he getting?? And what is he going to use to power those speakers?? Also is there an opening leading into the cabin from the trunk??
  21. You also can look at Image Dynamic Q series subs which can handle up to 500 Watts. U can get these over at woofers etc. for 150 before shipping Aswell you can talk to nick over at FI to see if he has any of the X series subs left. These he is only selling for 80 dollars each before shipping and are rated at 300 RMS

Right now im keeping the subwoofer sealed. I just recently purchased a ESX 175.2 for the front stage and it sounds so much more alive. my next step is to purchase either an Alpine 9887 or the pioneer 800 PRS. And run the the font active with an ESX 60.4 on the tweets and the 175.2 on the woofers., and hopley down the line I can find and get either an ESX 475.1 or the ESX 120.4 to run the subwoofer. Once all this is all done I experiment with a ported box. It sounded better having the polyfill in the box aswell. Thanks BigCProductions99 i screwed that up buts its fixed now
  23. Check all the fuses that are inline with the amp. 1. the fuse under the hood on the power wire 2. the fuse at the distro block (if u have one) 3. the fuses on the amp. Also tell us your entire system aswell, also what size power and ground wire u are using??
