Some of you may know me from the forums or facebook. Long time bass head and have been into audio for 14 years.I do a little glass work and custom enclosures. I'm about to be in my 4th season of MECA, 2nd year with our own trunk classes(finally). I don't really post build logs as nothing stays the same long enough to be post worthy. But i figured id share a little of the last few years. Sbn 13 was the last show i ran the Maxima at, broke the first Trunk class 150 at 36hz. Was alot left in the build and car in general. Unfortunately it was instantly scrutinized due to the rear seat being non folding, a removable plate that sat behind the rear seat may or may not have become a issue at finals so i didnt want to risk it. Sold the car a few months later and bought a 03 impala to build from scratch. First build didnt go to well. Ran with zero deadner. Electrical consists of a Dc 275xp, one set of 4/0 runs, and 6 banks of caps. Lost one amp before the first burp,2nd time ever running them and it was a huge disappointment. Ran a single 500.1 and it clipped under load like crazy, was never able to get anything out of the single 12 setup so i started fresh 2nd go around i foamed out the trunk, and used 2 bulk packs of stinger roadkill expert. And decided to run a tried and true design. Used a single vfl-comp 15, on a pair of apk-3500s at 1 ohm each then dropped one down to .5. Did decently well, 48s at the headrest at 31hz Did alot of squeezing a few days before world finals to get everything fitted. Road to Alabama, wired up at the hotel parking lot and road over to the Von Center to start testing. With all the trimming and modding to make everything fit i suffered a huge loss and raise in peak frequency. We were able to slid the box back forward an inch and it dropped the peak back down 3 hz and started back gaining. Just to let you know how low we started out it was having trouble breaking a 46 We woke up the next day scoped the amps and dropped down to 1 wired to .5 and started in testing. we got her up to a 50.6. Strapped both amps wired down and had trouble keeping the amps on. After about 30 burps we thought we had it nailed. Let the care cool a few hours before our final runs and never took in account for a cold coil. Amps shut down with no time in the lanes to reset. Was a tough pill to swallow. Was aiming for high 52s but didnt pull it off. So here is the present. Shelling out the trunk for a 4th order now for a pair of Ethos 15s. If the space cant be pulled off ill build something simular to last seasons build. Not like it had any issues playing low. Tuned to 36hz, played down to 27hz and peaked at 31 and 49 relatively flat
