  1. Would be able to give a better recommendation with the size of box you're building and the size available in the vehicle. IIRC you need to measure the width of the port and make sure you have that much room between the port and the rear gate.
  2. I would just get the sundown, if you really want to switch it out when the new one comes out I'm sure you could figure something out. I'm not positive but Jacob may still take trades in for new equipment, don't quote me on that though. Especially since this isn't his own company.
  3. hmmm interesting, is it bad to put speakers in the rear deck? my rears are in the rear deck and id like to replace the stocks but now im not too sure, whats the reason for this If you're talking about the car in your avatar it's completely pointless to have speaker in the rear deck. The subs are going to tear the little cones up, as previously stated. There is a lot of pressure back there to compete with. I would take them out.
  4. Go for it, if you know what you're doing. I gave my cap. to my high school physics teacher
  5. Well the first time i talked to DC was about a month ago, told me possibly 2 weeks and the casings or whatever will be in. Called them about 2 weeks later and was told the 8th of this month to give them a call, haven't been able to get ahold of them. Left them a message yesterday, but saw that they had a phone outage (via facebook) a little before i called. Didn't know if they got my message so I just tried to call again but didn't get an answer and didn't really want to leave a second message in 2 days, ya know?
  6. Not able to get ahold of DC power to see if they have the alt i want available, and not getting replies to messages on here/phone. BUT Mechman answered the first time i tried calling them. I know they're both solid units, it's just the pricing/numbers that i'm worried about. So here is my situation. Mechman 150 amp alt. Does ~110 at idle, 150 max. Didn't specify if that was hot/cold so I'll assume it's cold. ~$400 after summer discount. Eric said he gets them out the door is about 3 days. DC 180 HP amp alt does ~130 at idle and 180 max (cold) and 120 idle 160 max (hot). ~400 normal price. Don't know if it's available and website says 1-2 weeks 'till it ships. DC 170 OEM alt does ~ 110 at idle, 170 max (cold) and 90 idle 150 max (hot). ~350, again 1-2 weeks to ship. Do you guys think i'll see any difference between these three units? The max power I think I'll ever run will be a 3500 and my 100.4. But who knows when that's going to happen. Mechman has quick return time and better CS from what i can tell so far from personal experience but I don't like their price, even with the summer discount. I really want DC's 180 HP, but can't seem to order it and who knows when it will get here. DC said i could run into some belt slip with the 180, and MM said that right around 150 is where i'm safe and shouldn't see much, if any slip. I want to have the alt installed before sept. for the first show i want to go to. I don't want to skimp on getting the best amp because another is more convenient to me. What would you guys do? HELP!
  7. I liked your post on facebook, something along the lines of, "you can get them in any color you want, as long as it's black."
  8. If it's new then this. Still nice to know the amp settings/box specs.
  9. Thank you. I really appreciate the kind words. Make it all worth it that much more.
  10. save the money you would spend on rear speakers and put it towards nicer fronts.
  11. cap

I would sell it then put that money towards a nice deep cycle battery.
  12. 8 ft^3 should be fine, should be efficient so you wont need as much power as a smaller box. You will be fine, just watch for stress, like always.
  13. 'sall good! Just keep your chin up. We already know that you do work, so there is quick turn around time. Sorry to hear about all the road bumps, but it will all get smoother in time and will be worth the effort when you're crusin' down the freeway and not breaking down
  14. I believe Big Will's old xcons were for sale in there a while ago. Just depends how often they have items that fit in the category I would assume.
  15. Very nice topic. 5 *s for you! Oh, and a beer too-
  16. Zip ties are easy to cut
  17. no reason you shouldn't be able to do it for less than the cost of the terminals you have now. Here is the first bit of copper i came across. May be able to find something local for cheaper. http://cgi.ebay.com/Copper-Bar-Stock-1-8-X-3-4-X-10-electrical-repairs-etc-/130557053746?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e65ce8b32
  18. Get these, then put a hole in a copper plate and clamp it down with the wing nut. Have a couple inches on either side for holes/bolts for other terminals. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/SS01/08507.oap?ck=Search_N0365_-1_2750&pt=N0365&ppt=C0005
  19. i believe i have 1/8" copper, should be fine. ** side note: i've cleaned up the electrical tape you see all over those terminals. Had to order some shrink wrap and that's the best i could do at the time. And added a couple grounds, which are all black cable **
  20. Get some aluminum or copper, drill a couple holes and bam. I have a plumber friend and he just took some 6" copper pipe he had laying around cut it in half and heated/bent it 'till it was flat, we measured out what size we wanted cut it and drilled holes where i wanted them. and bam, instant buss bar.
  21. Just get some metal and make your own. Infinite amount of space for terminals that way. Put the stock wires in the 4 gauge terminal, or put ring terminals on and put them on top. That frees up the 1/0 input, and you should still be able to keep the 1/0 on top.
  22. No need to bump your build log. How do you like those terminals? Hate mine... They're now sitting on the bottom of my tool box.
  23. That's perfect size for a 12".
