want to push my 12's to the limit
oh no, i built the box into the hatch to get every last square inch of space. it wont even budge. its a chore to get it out with 2 people. kind of stuck there. and when i do the box for my 15's, i'll have to either make it higher or bring another section all the way up to the back of the seats to get the airspace i need.

want to push my 12's to the limit
i've actually got mine stuffed full of poly at 1.3 net per driver. think i should try taking it all out? i dont have any pics of the box outside the car, and its a pita to take out, but heres one of it in the car, with my old amps, the nine.1 and 8004. notice the orion just dwarfing the eD, was kind of embarrassing.

want to push my 12's to the limit
woot been running 950 to each for about a week now. i think i have a pretty good ear for distortion and i've been watching it, they seem to be holding up alright. needless to say, they freakin wang. sound different than my nine.1, i think i must have been clipping it because it just sounds a lot cleaner and more controlled. only thing i dont like though, is that it seems a lot punchier now. it seems like i could push the low bass further, but the punchy bass wants to start distorting sooner. i had my deck xover at 80 with the nine.1, i turned it down to 60 with the new amp, and it helped a bit, but still punchier than i like. my decks got a good eq, what else can i play with to try and get rid of the excessive punchiness?

songs that hit hard
yeah got some ok stuff, but i found a lot of good stuff checking into this torrent thing earlier. how safe is this as far as the riaa, like compared to limewire? by the way, if you just want songs that hit hard, and dont care about the lyrics or music, just get a bass mekanik cd. quad maximus is my favorite one. there is all sorts of test tones and sine sweeps on it too.

songs that hit hard

i think my new crossfire vr-2000d is junk
whew. turns out i had plugged in the wrong set of rcas lol. so instead of getting a sub signal from my deck at +10, it was getting my components signal at -3. brilliant huh? anyway, i hooked it up the right way and it pounds, to say the least. 520 isnt actually a huge amount for this amp, the cheapest i've heard of them going for new is 650, and a lot of places online list them for 1k. those are supposedly only 2 ohm stable, although a lot of people run them at 1 ohm. this one was modded to handle high voltage and be .5 ohm stable, probably even .35 if i pushed it. no need for all that though, i just wanted an uber amp for daily that wouldnt have to break a sweat to put 2kw on my 12's and looks like i got it

i think my new crossfire vr-2000d is junk
yes i measured 14.5 volts on both power supply inputs with the car running. the speaker outputs were measuring a bit lower than my nine.1 does, it usually will go to about 34 volts before it starts spiking, this was going to about 28. its got me a little worried because i just spent 520 bucks on a used amp with no warranty thats been modded

i think my new crossfire vr-2000d is junk
i just bought a crossfire vr-2000d that was apparently modded to handle high voltages and .5 ohm loads. well, today i hooked it up just to see if it worked, and to my dismay, it wasnt as loud turned up 2/3 of the way as my nine.1 was at 2/3. this amp should do more than twice the power of the nine.1 so im a little confused. it does play, bass sounds fine, its just not loud. i have both power supplies hooked up, a 1/0 gauge from my battery going back to a dist. block into 2 4 gauge wires, and just 2 4 gauges at the back grounding the power supplies. my electrical system is very solid, and both power supplies are getting 14.5 volts. the remote wires are both getting about 13.2 volts. i have just one remote wire from the deck back to the amp split into 2 now, havent gotten the relay yet, i was just testing out the amp to make sure it worked. the speakers are wired up to give a 1 ohm load, and they are plugged into the correct speaker terminals for mono operation, so it should be giving me like 2800x1, but i'd guess its doing about 800-900x1. is there anything else i can do to troubleshoot this thing? is it possible only one power supply is functional, and the amp still works but with only half the power?

do i need both power and grounds hooked up?
can i pick one up at radio shack or something? any specific kind i need, or any 12v relay? what if i just try splitting the one remote into 3 wires? can't have too low of a remote voltage right, its either on or off? im guessing i need 12v showing to each one to turn the amps on?

do i need both power and grounds hooked up?
i dont understand about the relays, could you explain?

do i need both power and grounds hooked up?
ok heres my (rather expensive and heavy) wiring setup. i've got a 1/0 wire from the positive battery terminal back to a fused splitter to 2 4 gauges. the fuse by the battery is 200 and 120 each at the dist. block. have a 4 gauge power wire from the battery terminal straight to the diamond amp, with an 80 amp fuse by the battery and 3 30's in the amp. a 1/0 gauge wire from the negative terminal to a 3 way 4 gauge splitter in the back, 2 to the crossfire and one to the diamond. i can just split my remote wire into 2 at the back by the amp right? have i got all my bases covered?

do i need both power and grounds hooked up?
i've got a crossfire vr2000d thats supposedly been modded to be .5 ohm stable and handle high voltage. it has 2 hookups each for power, remote, and ground. these all need to be hooked up right? how can i test the amp beforehand to see if i can run it daily at 1 ohm? it should do around 2800x1 @ 1 ohm, and i'll be using 1800-2kw of that for my 12's, so it wont be running full tilt but about 2/3. anything else i need to know before firing up this beast?

just now noticed the vr2000d in your sig. i've got a modded one on the way for my rl-ps

Underpowering My RL-ps
my nine.1 gets my 12's rolling. these speakers do really well with little power. if you already have a 1600 watt amp, i wouldnt go out and get another amp just to put another 100 watts or so on each one, unless you've just got some cash that needs spent. (hate when that happens)

want to push my 12's to the limit
i've already bought an amp, but out of curiosity what did that re amp set you back? whats it rated at?

want to push my 12's to the limit
i thought about it hard, but the 20.1 is just too expensive. 720 shipped. i am planning on building a ported box, but its quite a challenge with my car, haven't gotten around to it yet. probably going to deaden the car first, even with the sealed box a bunch of the bolts in my suspension rattled loose and i had to spend like 5 hours taking them all out, putting on thread locker and torquing them back down. dont really want to knock anything else loose.

want to push my 12's to the limit
i'm not competing with it, i just want more output. my nine.1 doesnt do it for me, and i figure i'd might as well buy a monster amp so i never have to say "man, i wish i'd have gotten that amp" again. i really dont think 900 rms daily is really pushing it. aren't they rated to 700? aren't sealed boxes better for power handling than ported?

want to push my 12's to the limit
well i got a crossfire vr2000d, thats been modded to handle high voltage and be .5 ohm stable. a mean, mean amp. should do around 2800x1 @ 1 ohm. im going to start out setting the gain with a dmm for 1600 watts, and turn it up just a hair every couple of days until i find the limit. then back it off a bit. im guessing they'll handle ~1200 and im probably going to run 900-1000 to each. now i do bump my system a lot, and sometimes stuff like three six and lil jon. is prolonged playing at ~1000 watts going to hurt them? i know i'll find out in a week or so, but what kind of an increase in output can i expect to see from going from ~600 each they're getting now to ~900 each? 2 db maybe? i think it hits around 138-140ish now.

What mono amps do you have?
so what happened to those old samples? cough em up!
