haha seems like I've missed a couple things while I was out today lol but I'm almost 100% sure I'll be heading up to Tewksbury this weekend so I'll be seeing you there Bill. there's still a couple odds and ends I still haven't tied up but I really have no time haha. but I'm pretty damn sure I'll be in the 40's this time. I wish I would hit a 145 but I'll be happy with a 141. with all the impedance rise and shit I don't think I'm seeing full potential out of my amp. and my electrical isn't set either. a high output alt would do me good but the prices are crazy. but all I can do now is prepare and hope for the best. -Marcus

yea its finally at 1ohm. the voltage is pretty good.. if i stop and keep it at full blast it dropes to the 12's.. but if i kepp moving i only see drops into the middle 13's. but thats at the front battery. i havent checked the back one yet. which i should and am going to do tomorrow. then i'll give you a better answer haha. but i have a funny feeling i'm not seeing 2,000 watts.. but i could be. gotta figure it all out soon. have a feeling it's the box.

So it's been a while... got in the Deka 9A31 and everything. and it's all in and i have a good amount of pics.. just don;t feel like uploading today. but between work. working on my setup. and football. its hard to find time to take pictures and post an do all that good stuff haha. anyways everything is about wrapped up FOR NOW . i dont know how much more i really want to put into this car.. seeing it's only my first.. and i want an SUV by next spring. i would go with one 4000 personally you'll match the RMS of the subs so it'll be safe - 2000 to each and i've heard two btl's off one RF 4000. and damn.. i think you'll be plenty happy with one RF4000 and so will your pocket

did the battery(ies) come charged? most places send them out charging around 12.7 or 12.8 so you should check them first before putting them in. hmm and i don't have a charger either... but what should it be at before i put it in

yea i just got an email from them.. i totalllllly forgot i made an account before hand since you need one to buy anything lol and maybe by friday if i'm lucky but any deka batteries in those orders perhaps?

Has anybody ordered a battery from remybattery.com before? If so, how did they alert you as to when your stuff ships? They didn't ask for an email or anything in the order form. Or do you get pleasantly surprised one day?

yea thank god it does.. really turned my stomach thinking about sending it back. still does but I think it'll be ok. anyways... I might buy a battery either tomorrow or the next day so once I get that-you know the deal! 1ohm. but I will be extra sensitive on the volume knob to be extra safe.

AFAIK running it at 4ohms won't cause more wear and tear. BUT Look at it this way, it gets less power at 4ohms than at 1ohm so in order to get the same output you have to turn it up (gains or headunit or loud or bass boost) more which may lead you to heading into clipping with incorrectly set gains in the quest for *MORE* bump. That being said I don't know if running it with more power (if you wire to 1ohm) may let it die faster due to the damage already received? If you can, go have a look at a good "setting the gains" tutorial online and set them properly. Once you've set them that IS as much output as it gets in the current setup (box, placement etc...)............. Any type of boost or loud or more gains may lead to damage (could be slow long term or bang pfffff gone) even if it sounds louder at the time. Glad to hear that it sounds fine though..... hopefully alot more faithful service is to be had from the beast. Jono running it with more power is worrying me but then if i goes then i know i should send it in i already know how to set the gain lol thanks.. i do it with a dmm thanks for helping! turned the loud button off. and reset the gain. and i won't go higher. i just wish i had a oscilloscope so i can pinpoint exactly where to stop. but i don't.. only a dmm.. know any where i can find an oscilloscope for a reasonable price? and if and when i wire it down to 1ohm.. will more power kill it since it's already damaged? or would it be the same? ok so i just tested out the sub and it sounds fine but i know i still damaged some coils. the coils that i can see still look brand new.. but idk about the ones that are deeper that aren't visible should i be alright using it? i will not abuse that thing ever again. this was a big notification to me that they aren't industructable would it be wired to 4ohms have to do with more wear and tear on the sub.. since there's more resistance and all? or am i wrong? thanks for the help guys.. i'm just nervous to go play it and have it get messed up even more! how long should it last me now with minor coil damage with?

but back to finding a battery.. im researching now and i decided i;ll just email xspower's support email and ask em if they have any dealers near me (not that i need the battery now anyways :/ but i mine as well pass the time)

yea it was still working just fine.. but do the coils smell that bad when they just get hot? or only when they start to burn? is there anyway of telling how bad the coil is? from how you describe it just hot is unlikely usually the smell of hot vc's is MUCH more sublte and dissapates fatser then your describing, if the smells as bad as you describe then i'm suprised you didnt see smoke. rem those jl's that blew at end of comp? they "played" sort of and were def. blown, his was a very bad blow but he didn't fuse any thing so it did'nt stop moving, however if you still heard notes from your sub you may be able to get a little use out of it... maybe, just pray to the bass gods! also be very happy you never wired down to 1 ohm with that monster of an amp you have, you'd probly would have seen flames from the sound of things. i think my mind is whats making the msell worse than it is. plus there's no window open in my house.. but still.. in the car it was intense.. but i wish it was wired to 1ohm lol.. then i wouldnt be using stupid loud features because it would already be louder! but i was playing it at full blast until i got home and then i decided to fix my trunk. then i put my nose in the port.. so it was still working fine.. but i did hear a funny sound but i beleive it was my deck plate rattling or something but who knows now

the shorter life expentancy is killing me.. if it works i could maybe run it.. but for how long.. i dont know if i just want to send it in now and get it over with.. meanwhile i build up my electrical.. just getting a battery or whatever.. then by the time i get it back it'll be ready to be ran at 1ohm. but it all depends on how bad it is.. which i still don't know :/ but yea definately not.. now my car reeks haha and so does my room a little. but that smells really burns ya throat

Yes. It will probably have a more limited life due to the damage already inflicted on the poor thing but if it still works............. Dude did I read earlier you set your gains at volume 20/36 then play the system daily at volume 22/36?? Why did you set them at 20? You were probably clipping the amp before it even got the shitty "loud" signal for 2hours or however long it was. Jono yea i should just orbably get it fixed. i set the gains at 20 and play it 22 only because it was louder and i've always done it like that.. but it could;ve been affecting it this whole time.. who knows.. i suck

he's got a good point, play it and pay close attention to how it performs, if it is blown just unhook it quickly so you don't faq up your amp. should i test it out in free air? i would'nt suggest that, free air subs, or infinite baffle subs, are designed specifically for that and if memory serves me correct you run the risk of causing damage to your sub if it wasn't designed for that, i'd put it back in the enclosure and play it at low volume while listening for bad sounds like distorion, scratching or poor response, things like that, also look for smoke and flames! i'm not joking either, i've seen it! alright i've heard that also. i'll put it back in tomorrow and test it out but haha i've had smoke come out of my ports before.. i fried a kicker a while back....... guess how.. adding bass boost. didn't know that it was similar to loud features. but i should have known better
