how should i set up a surround sound in my room?
dont know where i should place speakers in this situation...i promise i will listen to your ideas Jim and M5 LOL not looking to spend a ton, but i want a decent little system. never really watch movies much, just watch tv at night before going to bed, etc. never really going to play it very loud unless i happen to be watching a movie. anyways, this is where my tv is, and where my bed. how would i place the speakers? notice how the tv isnt on a flat wall, i have a ceiling mount and its mounted in the corner of my room angled towards my bed. the mount comes tomorow so ill get pics after i install it. but i know the L and R front speakers are supposed to be firing at you as the tv is correct? would i angle the speakers too? then how would i do the rear speakers? dont laugh at my diagram lol this is how i have the tv now until my mount gets in. my old tv, this is where the 42" will be (close to the ceiiling) when the mount gets in. notice i dont have much wall space to the right of the tv,,,,entrance to the bathroom...

glassing inside box?
so staple fleece over the gap, resin, let harden, then add mat? then do the screw thing (after a few layers harden, predrill and screw it to the box)? will this work... i thought about stretching the fleece, applying a layer or resin, and while its still wet, where the fleece is stapled to the box, screw a 2x4 or something to the box, over the fleece where it meets the box, to sort of sandwich the fleece+resin in between the actual box, and a 2x4 on top of it. would that help any?

screwed down front baffle with 2 screws just to hold it in place temporarily. port baffle...dont want to cut out the port opening yet, becuase i dont know how wide its going to be. height will be 5.75" though. its most likely gonna be 5.75 x 28-30", for around 161-172.5 sq inches of port...not as much as i wanted but its absolutely all i have room for. this is just sitting there by the way...not screwed in or anything yet...thats why theres gaps at the top, etc. inside

grinding off the tips of some screws that i had screwed in from the outside of the box. attached the 45, connecting the top and the back panels of the box. the corners will be glassed. its solid as hell (the 45 i just put on) and im happy with how it came out, especially since this whole box was built day by day, as i go, and not designed. glued the front baffles together. i want to put them on the box for good, but im scared to, until i get the port done.. if i put it on, then its gonna be hard to finish the port, so ill wait til the port is done.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
this is sorta how im sealing up the top piece to the rest of the box... the back was easy, the sides are sorta easy, the corners in the back i guess im gonna have to just glass. ideas?- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
thanks- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
the top of the box screws and is glued permanently to the wood over the rear sunroof. it doesnt move, very solid. gluing it up! put it on.. notice i covered the edge in suede and rounded the edge...ill explain why in the next pic the port will only come out to about here. so i extended the top of the box, and covered it in suede to cover the rear sunroof, or else the very edge of the sunroof would have been showing, becuase the port doesnt come past the sunroof.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
the top of the box, although it still needs to be trimmed up a little. trying to hold it where itll be mounted, while taking a pic at the same time the gaps on the sides/back will be sealed with birch, at a 45 degree angle, and of course, glassed a couple layers thick. sealed the rear "sunroof". the back one doesnt open, so theres no tracks for the roof to pop off of, like the front. only reason for sealing the back is becuase im going to screw and glue the top of the box to that, for extra support. its hard to explain, but you'll see as i progress. i got lazy and didnt feel like finishing the top piece tonight. but the back trim panel is 95% done, so ill move back to the actual box until its done, then finish the back trim panel and front trim panel. got glue?- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
it was a bed sheet lol now its got cuts and glue on it haha- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
covered in headliner fabric, for padding suede: its not pushed all the way down in this pic.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
ya, im using the same suede i covered the headliner in, to do the sunroof. i want it to blend in.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
i was thinking just covering it in suede to make it look like a closed door covering the sunroof. i could do vinyl though.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
the piping has like a 1/4" piece of flat plastic on the back of it, it tucks perfect in between the panels, im not even gonna glue it, unless it ends up falling out, which i dont think it will. im making 2 smaller pieces of trim panel for those 2 side gaps, covering in vinyl or suede. similar to the first wall- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
these pics do it more justice. i replaced the screws with some nicer ones, not exactly what i wanted, but theyre black, and look better than a drywall screw, so they're fine. once the amps and everything is in, it wont be as noticeable. also got some black leather piping, like the kind you sew into the edges of a seats upholstery. gonna run that around the boarder of my trim panel, to cover the few gaps that i do have. what you guys think? the piping, i got 10 yards, it was only .30 cents a yard lol- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
pics sorta make it look bad, yes theres a little gap at the top, but the flash makes it show alot more than it really does. its the best i could get it! the drywall screws will be replaced with screws with nicer heads on them tomorow, i just put those in now to hold it so the glue will dry. i really didnt want any glue at all. and i had to have the wood 2 pieces, thats why you see that seam, again the flash shows it more than it is. once all the amps are in there, you wont really see any of the imperfections, although there isnt many. this was the 2nd time covering the trim panel...attempt 1 failed. LOL.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
frame for the false floor cardboard template for the floor will be traced on 1/4" birch, and cut out tomorow after work, around 4pm EST.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
everything is gonna be black..dont want any other colors- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
been working on the back lately, i dont have much more left to do really as far as the trim panel in the rear goes. i love how its coming out. cut out the rear trim panel, although i knew it wouldnt fit, so i had to 2 piece it to get it in the car. drivers passenger all i gotta do is make a little triangular piece to cover over this mess, and im done with the rear trim panel. im thinkin since the headliner, side panels, are suede, im thinkin of black vinyl for the trim panel i just put?? ideas here please. raising the floor a little, this is where ill put things like excess wire, fuses, my 3 way crossover, etc etc. (under the floor) the floor will be suede as well, thats why i think suede top bottom and sides, then the center trim panel would look good accenting it in vinyl closed the sunroof, need to cover this in suede, and it wont look bad at all. this is what looks bad, but no one will ever see it, the sunroof DOES still open though, its just pointless since its sealed off. its very stiff, ive got the 3/4", then a layer of Peel n Seal, then 1/4", then another layer of peel n seal, then the final 1/4" which you see from the inside of the car, which will get sueded.- mini cooper wall thread, version 2
the ENTIRE inside will have at least 2 layers of mat + resin - mini cooper wall thread, version 2
