Bummed by the loss
Sucks that Mach5Audio is leaving the forum. Im personally a little bummed that their products wont be so readily available and discussed on these forums. I am in the middle of an install using their speakers and think highly of them so far. Ive already sent an email to the addy from the notice thread but thought Id talk about it here as well. Just wondering if the MLI65s will still be available? Or any of the other products that were listed? Id love to use some in another install and always planned on buying them here.

bigrank916 MLI-65 project
Went to the garage for an audio christmas present and pulled the glass of the door. It came off pretty easily but I wouldnt recommend using the cheap, narrow masking tape. Blue painters tape would have been much better. Its looks pretty good but its a little thin in some spots around the edges. I used all the mat I had which was one package. The middle is very thick and solid so I will just add some aound the edges to finish off the back. Now that Ive done it, I kinda know what to expect and what not to do. Like dont stack up your torn pieces of mat. Instead, lay them one at a time right next to each other. They will be easier to pick up that way. I was flingin shnit off my fingers and Im sure it looked hilarious to my neighbors. This resin is some sticky ass stuff too. You can get in a giant mess in a hurry so its important to be organized before you start! Overall this is A LOT easier than I thought. I cant wait for the stores to open so I can get more supplies! I hooked!1st glass sheet off

bigrank916 MLI-65 project
I got started tonight and I must say I feel good about it. The first layer is a effing nightmare to get on but after that its a breeze. That and the constant stabbing motion with the brush to keep the mat sticking down. But it seems to be the best solution for application. I used a whole package of mat because I wasnt sure on when to stop. Once I pull it off, I'll get a better idea of whats going on and how much to apply to where for the next one. Its all a learning process and Im totally stoked so far. Im really into how this stuff works and thinking of all the possibilities. I usually have high expectations when making something with my hands so Im hoping it will look good on my first try. I like the idea of making your own shit from scratch. We'll see how it goes I guess. Stay tuned...pass door 1st layer

What is your favorite breakfast?
Its pretty old school and my family makes it still on occasion. Dont really know it by any other name then "shit on a shingle". Im sure you have heard of it. Tastes awesome but it has to be very hot. As soon as the gravy begins to cool, it tastes a little different to me. Maybe I'll make tomorrow. Thanks for the idea.

mli 6.5's
Have you heard them with 100 watts at 4 ohm? If so, was it not enough for you? They are pretty versatile to fit your individual needs but I dont think they make them custom though.

I almost forgot about posting pics
Wow, dude. You did a helluva job with all that deadener. That looks like a $1k worth too. I cant believe after all that, you still get that much vibration. Crazy. Good job though man. This looks really good.

A little update tonight. I decided to put the speakers on the bottom of the door. I think it will look much better than my first idea. I cut the pockets off and taped it off. The door panels are ready for glassing now. Here I go... mli65 link

Review on 18" BTL
Here is the one I made today with the SAZ1500D and my mli65s in their mock enclosures. The front stage is so much better now its pathetic. Its by no means done or anything. Ive got a long ways to go yet. The BTL is starting to jump now though. When I can, Id love the rip out all the interior and deaden the entire cab. The firewall and floorboard 4x4 lever needs some heat barrier like a mofo. In the summer, my feet are a cookin! The camera volume still blows. SAZ1500D w/ mli65 test run

Burning smell
Its never good to smell something burning. You were probably pushing them to far for too long. I know Fi can be a monster but every driver has its warning and failing points. Just got to be smart about it. An hour is a pretty long time at high volume too. I definately wouldnt do it again!

nightshade 12's
No matter the voice coil rating the rms will be the same on any subwoofer you buy out there. The rms is 1500, since you have to ask stick with 1500rms and you wont damage anything. for 2 12"inch nightshades would u suggest a 3500d or the new 4500d? and what voice coil would u get. the 2-ohm or the 1-ohm? For two nightshades, get the dual 1 ohm. A SAZ3500D would be plenty for those two.

RF POWER T30001BD
Im sure it will but for how long? Rf amps are uber power hungry anyway so doing that is a little overboard and you are asking for a problem imo.

Ok. I thought of it in a geometrical way to break down the odd shapes but had my doubts. Finally I get to use my geometry skills in a real life application! Who would have ever thunk it in high school? Of course I'll have to brush up on the formulas of volume and area for different shapes though. I sure as hell dont remember that stuff. So I guess Im ready to start making the pods now. Since I want to keep them sealed, it takes me back to a few questions I had earlier in the thread. Since the pods will be sealed, is there any reason to continue to deaden the passenger door with my leftover SS? After making the back of the enclosure and cutting a hole for wire terminal, how do I glass in a terminal mdf ring? Or should I drill a hole and run the wire out that way? This seems an easier route but dont know how to properly seal it up again after the wire goes through. Also, how do I attach the pods to the door securely when sealed?

anyone know the resonant freq of 2002 chevrolet suburban?
Your best bet is to build a small box and get a meter and find out for yourself playing tones. X2. Then you can get the answer straight from the horses mouth.

I still cant find what you just quoted but oh well. That is all I needed though, thank you. Dude, if Im asking, I already looked and couldnt find it. Hell, I still cant find it. Im not going to look through every page and every post to search for it though. I was originally going off of page three. Jackie Chan, Rollin. Thats what I needed.

I guess when it becomes too large and uncomfortable next to my leg. It also has to fit between the seat and the dash. I dont know an exact volume though. How would I go about figuring how much volume the pod will have when constructed? You calculate the volume based on the external size and material thickness. I thought you did that before building your boxes and chose a box size based on your pods. Changing the volume of the box could drastically affect the response which is why you went through the exercise... I chose the size roughly on what I thought would fit. It was only 1/4ft3 each so I think it wont be a big problem. Plus the 3/4 mdf takes up a lot of space that the fg wont. The fg shouldnt even be close to that thick, right? I didnt think it would be more than 1/4" thickness. What I meant was more of how to detemine the outside measurements on the abnormally sized enclosure. You know, its not just 12Wx8Hx8D because its not a perfect rectangle like my mock enclosure. Im not sure on how to calculate the pod when it has curves everywhere. How will I know when it is .25ft3?
