  1. A great place to get them used is right here from the owner. SAZ1500D used An even cheaper option that will still work great would be this. Only problem is you have to wait for it. SAE1200D Ah sweet. Thanks. Is there a better amp that you would recommend? Do you mean cheaper? The amps I listed are of high quality. No, not necessarily. Sundown is the brand I mentioned from the beginning. I was asking if there is another besides Sundown you would personally prefer. Ive bought nothing but sundown since Ive found them. I have steered away from mainstream brands and has worked out well. Cant beat the price vs quality.
  2. Much appreciated.
  3. This helps a lot if that formula works in general. Thank you.
  4. More like big two cause I didnt ground the alt to the chassis. There wasnt any dedicated ground post on the stock alt so I thought I would put it in later. Thought the other two were the most important anyway. Maybe when I get a new alt for her, I'll do the third. That will be expensive though! Should have done this a long time ago but I was off work due to the weather today. What better time to do it then now? Had to get some new battery post terminals as they wouldnt work with my 1/0 terminals. Put the black loom on there to make it look nice too. It was lying around so why not? Right off the batt I could tell the difference. The lights dont dim anymore and it even seems a little louder. The volume goes up a little more than it did before, without distorting at a comfortable listening level. I cant wait to put a bigger amp in here now. Maybe throw in some tweets that are lying around with the 50.4 now. Its alllll goooooooood!!!! I should add this went A LOT EASIER than last time. big two in geo metro
  5. Dont let it bother you that much. Besides, hes married with children and I dont think he swings that way!
  6. It's tuned to about 35 Hz, I've been playing it for about the past 2 weeks at half power (4000 watts) for break in and it sounds pretty damn good for a $200 sub. I've already made one guy bail out gagging for air . I should begin the panels here shortly. I'll get some vids up soon. Is that half the power of 4k or half power being 4k watts? Just curious as those drivers are only 1k rms. Looks really good though. Those Memphis amps are long as hell!
  7. Ive had the same problems on a steel ac stand. Just had to go through a couple different brands to see which one worked best. Nothing but diamond tipped to start for me.
  8. That would have been much funnier! Especially going to checkout.
  9. Curious as to why they would ever think that some RMS calculation is possible. Hell even clamp meters aren't very accurate. Just something that was thought to be true. Personally, I had been told this by many audio shops as well as car audio boards. Multiply the total of the fuses on the amp by the voltage it receives and you will get a figure for the rms wattage. Nobody with any understanding has ever thought it to be true. One of those myths perpetuated through the ignorant masses. Ok. Glad to know this. How would you go about debunking this myth in a science method? Just curious.
  10. If he's serious about competing and getting better numbers, a termlab is a necessity. Not only that, but it's essentially the cheapest to own, and the most consistent. An audiocontrol will run you into the thousands. Not too many other choices out there besides that splmeter.com one, but I'm not even sure if those are still around or made. Not at all necessary to figure out the acoustic resonance of his car which is what the thread is titled. Very true. If he is avid in competition though, it might prove to be a useful purchase.
  11. How would you kill the alt listening to the stereo with the car off? That doesnt make sense. The alt isnt even on. I would do the big three but do not replace any wires. Only add them and leave the stock ones in place. I would try and run the wire straight from the alt to the batt. I wouldnt be worried about decibles or hitting harder until you fix your problem.
  12. Have you bought the btl already ? You're sure it's what you want/need ? You could take a look at the xcons : they're more musical than the btl's. Never heard this before. Just curious to see how many think the same thing and why?
  13. Can you describe it? I can't go on Youtube til i get home. My school blocked Photobucket....Ridiculous.... Thats it. Pure and simple. A guy walking through walmart with a 12 volt stereo on his back. Mids and sub playng.
  14. Youve got to be kidding? Up der? Well, then hell has frozen over.

  16. I would if sundown offered something that put out at least 150w+ in 2 channels. What are the pros and cons of bridging a 4 channel amp? I've heard it results in more noise and less efficiency? It does. The 50.4 bridged puts out 160rms x 2 channels at a 4 ohm load. Ive never heard of that when bridging an amplifier.
  17. haha i know what u mean but if i walked outside right now and it was 70 degrees or something crazy i'd be astonished too Exactly!!!
  18. Damn. I know an assload of people that are thinking wrong then.
  19. I knew this wouldnt be anything new to you boys out east but here its a little odd. Usually have to drive up the hill to see this.
  20. Ive lived 28 years here in the Cali valley and have never, ever seen snow on the valley floor. I live in 0 elevation and awoke to snow on my lawn. Now it wasnt that much but the fact that Ive never seen it here before is blowing my mind. I love it!!!!! Glad I didnt put money on it last night. snow in my hood
  21. When I get the space for it, I plan to get one of those 10" ryobi table saws and build a longer and wider table around it. The saw itself is only $114 from the Depot so you could put it together real nice and sturdy for $200 which is very cheap considering how much the bigger ones are. Just a though J. A quality table saw is so much more than a large table. A cheapo bench top 'table saw' with a big table around it isn't much at all. I can not say this enough. On a table saw, save once, buy once. PERIOD Also, another necessary investment is a book, pamphlet, one on one time with a quality woodworker (not a neighborhood hack), or a class for learning how to properly use a table saw (or just woodshop). There is so much more one can do than cut a straight line with one. Im not trying to say this was a "quality" table saw. I know how much they cost and how precise they are. I was merely suggesting a cheap alternative to cutting large sheets of wood safely and accurately by table saw instead of a skillsaw. If everyone had the money, we can get the best of everything. But thats not always the case. The best alternative to cutting full sheets on a real table saw is a quality circ saw, a cutting table (read table to put wood on that you can run the blade through) and a saw guide like what I linked in a prior post. They make the guides in various lengths to accommodate different sized lumber. Or you can do that as well.

I wouldn't go with a table saw like that unless it's just for construction and small jobs. I went that rout and only found disapointment. What else would we be using them for when you can buy them so cheap?
  24. I dont think so. Thats wishful thinking though. It is the hollidays. Lots of companies make good three way comp sets. Try a local shop to hear some.
  25. J, the Depot also has a Ryobi 18 volt drill/skillsaw combo for $49. Awesome deal and I already got one. Love it.
