What to do, and how to do it
Well one was for 18 vs 15, kinda got out of hand so I tried to bring it back together. Another was about car electrical and that went elsewhere. Then another was about making strange looking boxes then it went elsewhere... I just like trying to kep the topic the same as everythign posted. Else you get to 5+, 6+, 7+ pages and the person reading the first post has no idea wtf the last post it about. I guess I could pm a op and ask them to combine everything...

What to do, and how to do it
I kind of started a post in the wrong area for BTL box questions. But I am looking at getting a 15" BTL sometime soon. I do have somewhat limited trunk space though (40x40x20). I would like maybe a little of extra room in the trunk for putting somethings (ie bags, books, backpacks, skating equipment etc). Can it be done to get the same boom / sound quality with a smaller box? I know on my other post, somebody said it was possible to make a little smaller box with biger ports to even the difference out. But how far can you take it? Like (I know you couldnt but...) making a box that only acted as a brace for the sub and maybe have some sort of diminishing cone around the sub. Like a silinder with one side a small opening and the other big enough to mount the sub into. So that way it would be able to build some pressure. Then have that silinder pointing towards the street at a 45 degree angle (sub inverted) kind of towards the driver. Then dont put on a left or right side (ports) but a bottom and top... The main reason why I went down to the 15" from the 18" is because I believe I dont have the space for it. Maybe once I get everything upgraded in my car I will sell my 15" and go for a 18" if I am not doing the umph I want. Thanks for all your guys help, I know I am not the best at things but thanks for working with me. I am not trying to argue with anybody but I am just throwing ideas tht pop into my mind out there. Maybe one of them is worth a shot?

15" BTL Woofer Box Question(s)
It is possible to build a box with large port holes (for example, dont put on a cover or sides, just build a brace for the sub). But it sounds ilke its not doable so that idea is thrown out the window. I am not trynig to cut corners, I was just curious. If I have to Ill fill my entire trunk, I dont care. My trunk is 40L, 40W, 20H.

15" BTL Woofer Box Question(s)
Just a quick question.... I wonder what if I made a small box but with killer ports? Like make a brace for the sub and give it like 1/4 the box size but like 4x or 5x the port size? (Just an idea that popped into my head. Probably wont do it...) EDIT: I would keep the raitos the same. Somehow I would figure out well I need X space for Y port and then flip them so Y space for X port...

18" BTL Response Time
The ratings on http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDAVX77/JV...=r&tp=20217 seem pretty good. I may choose that one if I dont find a better one at a local store (usually gives deals if you buy something else....they have lots of stuff there as well).

15" BTL Woofer Box Question(s)
Ah alright. So basically if I flip the sub upside down it will still need the same size box? (give or take a little from the sub itself)

Humm. according to the crutchfield website that deck will not fit into the car, but its a double decker cd player thing...so confused.

15" BTL Woofer Box Question(s)
Don't know. I was just reading on some other forums some should not be mounted upside down. Would mounting the woofer magnet out do anything to the sound?

15" BTL Woofer Box Question(s)
A simple question, maybe not a simple answer though. I am looking to (maybe) invert my 15" BTL when I get it. The whole reason why I want to do this is to give the woofer as much air as it wanted and to use the trunk as the entire box. Saving room would be a plus but isn't really needed. I know some subs simply cant be mounted this way. The more I think of it the more I actually think the BTL may not be able to. Dont think though that this will make or break me getting a sub, just an idea.... http://www.astinagt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5601 (some guy posted a program to help with box cubic feet calculations)

18" BTL Response Time
Even better. With a 15" BTL and that amp I still have about 1200 left. A second high powered batter is what? 150? Drops me down to a grand still give or take. Now I just need to find a equalizer and a good deck.... My mistake.

18" BTL Response Time
Alright so then a single 15" BTL, large box, lots of port, on a 850$ Sundown SAZ-2000D amp... I can do that. What about a second battery? Yes? No?

18" BTL Response Time
I don't know why I am stuck. I guess I just heard a lot that Fi is one of the best companies. And I know I need to do research. I want good power but I would prefer to not have to get another alternator. A battery is doable with a good system and a very good deck, but its still pushing my budget. I kept on calling around for little garages that install systems like this. I have pretty much decided I am doing it myself. Its going to probably take a day or two to get it correct though...
