yeah, i might try 1.75 at 32 or so, and see how that works. Its just about 12 bucks to build a box, so it is worth a try! What is optimum port area for single 12 in 1.6 cubes tuned to 32

Just trying to get my power down. I know the MD2 are rated at 1500, but push closer to 1800. Do the MD1 push much more than 1200. I am trying to decide if MD1 is enough

For the money the Q would be a great choice, but I am not fond of the sealed sound personally. You could finad a used mag or a Soundsplinter as well and just watch the gains. My RLP was given 1200 daily sealed and never blinked.

It will shine with that kind of wattage, just be careful with the gains

Having owned a TC and a SS, I would say you cant go wrong with either. For you application I would do the SS. I had RLP 15 sealed and I would never hesitate to buy another product. I would stay away from Ebay for subs, I have been burned.

I'd say Memphis, just to keep Ben Milne from getting another dime, but that's just IMHO Check Ebay perhaps? I'm sure you can find a deal on a solid reliable kW for not much. Memphis hands down. More efficient and more reliable than ED, Check the claasifieds and Ebay. I bought my MCD 1000 for around 250.00 barely used and my Mag shines. I am not about being heard outside the car, but I get a lot of looks, with only a Mag 12

I had 600 on my Mag 12 before, and it sounded great, but it sounded a lot better with 1100 watts. It would be fine with 500, but in a sealed I would give it more to get it going. Have you looked at other amps besides JL? There are a lot out there that are just as good, for less money, like my Memphis MCD 1000.

I know there is probably no definitive answer, but I wanted to know where to start. I decided on a sealed box for new Mag 15 on the way to me. I figured 2.6 cubes and 2.45 after displacement. I want to know how many pounds to start with. I am looking for about the same output as my ported 12, with a flatter response. I know the site recommends 2.3. Is my box too big? Os there a way to get a little more output from a sealed box without losing a whole lot of SQ. This is my first sealed that I have had in this car. It will be getting around 1100 watts. I listen to about everything.

Not a basshead at all. I like my 12, but its just a little boomy for me on Rage, and some other metal. I love the ported output as well. My brother says we can tighten it up with a little have less port area and a little lower tune on the 15 so i may go that route. If not I will do 2.5 sealed. I had SS RLP 15 before in sealed and my 12 seems louder. I know they are different drivers. I have just been taught that ported output is always louder, even if you go up a size.

I have a mag 12 now in 2.0 cubes at 32. I am trading for a 15, but not sure if I want it ported due to the size requirements. I have heard both sealed and ported 12's and liked both. If I seal the 15 I know it will get lower, but will i lose a lot of output over the ported 12. Both getting 1100 watts from my memphis 1000d. Its in the trunk of a Grand Prix. Mine is about 2.1 Cubes at 32hz, great output for me. Sometimes I like to knock my head off, and sometimes I dont, but wanted the option. A little more SQ I would tune a little lower, closer to 28-30hz. I have heard both, sealed and ported, you cant go wrong with either.

I have Soundsplinter 15 in a 2.0 cu ft box. I would like to go to SI MAg 12. I would like to have output similar to a 15 so I want to go ported. How much SQ do u really lose. It goes in the trunk of Grand prix. I listen to some rap, but also some metal, reggae, and even techno. If u seal a Magnum do u hinder some of its marvelous attributes.
