audiobahn aw120q
okay check my math out here........... outside dimensions for the enclosure are ; 19"d X 17.5" W X 14" H (the mdf is 3/4")........so that is 2.02 cubic feet. the port measures 12.5" H X 10.875" D X .875"W so if i subtract this and the inner port wall displacement from the enclosures, it puts me at a volume of 1.89 f^3 ......... if i did the math right the port is tunned at 32hz. i am not sure of the displacement of the sub, but it looks like this box might be choking these subs some if i have done the math right... thanks for the help. chop

sub placement
x2, I know that the sub should be farthest away from port if it is sitting in the box so I assume the same thing for inverted (I just never been a fan of inverted subwoofers). Just my .02 right on, i have heard of folks having preferances on the look, however i have not been able to find a test to show pros and cons of the inverted style. I guess if there was some info pointing out any considerations that should be taken acoustically, then i would be most interested in seeing the results. I have seen the same info that you and ///M5 have provided suggesting that the sub should be far away from the port opening, so it is looking like that is a simple enough solution for the sub placement. If someone has something to add toward the inverted sub, i would be interested in hearing about it. I guess it is okay to address it here , even though that was not what the poll was......... if there is more input maybe i should start that poll. thanks chop

Tj's Audio
LOL I dont think he is worried about it dropping the lows.. This is a SPL build. i agree it is a spl build, but off the specs and build design, it suggest that it might very well be cable of doing well with handling the lower notes. I am gathering that i was correct on my assumption due to the response that "it will do 155db all day in street beat!"

sub placement
but five THE a** looks so good on that sub, is there a acoustical reason behind your choice? so furthe away from port. that is what i was thinking also. thanks chop.

sub placement
this setup is going into the Dakota (in sig) extended cab what is your vote? thanks chop

sub placement
I am not sure what is the right way here? the sub is inverted and firing up. the slot port uses the bottom of the enlosure and fires toward the driver side. not sure where the sub would do best at. thanks chop.

Chops subwoofer.
well, I don't know fellars, it is something that I will do at some point and time.......perhaps just not this point and time. I have heard alot of guys that love them, they own them. I have heard people very fond of sealed enclosures, they own them. and it goes on with ported, bandpass, 4th, 6th order..........seems that folks tend to lean toward what they have. I definetly see this amongst brand names. As it stands for now I am going to stick with what I have used and know, plain ol' ported box. let next year get here, and work pick up, then perhaps I will experiment. iputon326...........motions for him to come here and whispers< mikey has a secret!
